BBall Recruiting - New 2020 Target/Jalen Bridges (EM Top 150)

Submitted by Matt EM on April 18th, 2019 at 8:02 AM

I should have a lot of updates over the next month or so, as I'm hitting events on a weekly basis and talking with a lot of coaches, prospects and parents.

Anyway, I hit the Adidas Gauntlet in Indy last weekend. I watched Wildcat Select twice as they have two Michigan targets in Zach Loveday (top 50ish type Center) and Donovan Johnson (younger brother of Cam Johnson and top 150ish wing), but really came away impressed with 6'7 wing Jalen Bridges. Spoke with both him and his coaches and discovered Michigan has been in contact a lot recently........and I can see why. Like him considerably more than Johnson. He's going to enter my top 150, likely in the 75-100 range pending more live evals during the Spring. He's currently a 175-225 type prospect on the other sites, which if far too low.

Matt.  Just trying to figure out how these other sites haven't backed up a Brinks truck yet to get you on their payrolls.  You seem to be ahead of the curve on a lot of these prospects and are right way more than wrong on almost everything recruiting.  Have you been there, done that, or just took this up on your own.  At any rate, keep it up. I get excited for your posts and think you should be on the MgoTeam of professional contributors on this site.

Believe me when I tell you, I've had my share of misses in terms of evals. Scouting/evaluation is an inexact science and in order to put yourself in the best position for proper evals you must view players live.......at least that's my rule. Multiple times. I may not have the budget of the mainstream sites, but exclusive of Corey Evans, I'd like to think that I hit just as many live events, and likely more, than the mainstream sites. I'll continue to provide updates and film on Michigan targets in the coming weeks and months as recruiting really picks up during the live evaluation period next weekend.

I like this kid's game. The thing that stood out to me the most is that he's a pretty good athlete, but always seems to play very under control
