BBall Recruiting - 2021 EM4* Jaden Akins Upate/Interview
Probably one of, if not, the fastest rising 2021 prospect in the country right now. I've been high on Akins for a long time at this point and he's going to continue to rise on the national scene.

2021 isnt that far off, but we seem to be behind on this one and it's an instate kid. Without the visit first policy there is no reason to not offer the kid.

If positional size/athleticism seem to be priorities under the new staff, then Akins certainly fits the criteria. Would love to see an offer here. 3.7 GPA in the classroom as well.

I see he is visiting Michigan the weekend of the 31st. Best possible weekend with night football game and the rest of the opening weekend atmosphere!
He follows that the next weekend with Duke, then UNC and Gonzaga.
Would be nice if some in the Michigan media could write or talk about some things that would actually help with recruiting, but I know that's not their place.

Seems like the camp performance would've been a good occasion to offer. Did he camp at MSU as well? Or did something else lead to their offer?

MSU doesn't hold a formal elite camp. Basically MSU was at the College Basketball Academy and viewed the same thing I've seen for over a year now. An athletic 6'3 PG with three level scoring ability and outstanding playmaking skills. I wasn't at that particular event, so can't speak as to whether Coach Howard + staff were watching Jaden. I can tell you that he absolutely dominated the elite camp with Coach Howard front and center.

Confused what we’re doing in this recruitment. He’s right in our backyard and idk how we still haven’t offered him yet or how only Saddi has talked with him. Unless we’re going all in on Khristian Lander, idk what we’re doing

I'm in a wait and see approach to recruiting in hoops still. So far, we haven't landed a recruit that only Howard and his staff is solely responsible for. Hes fishing in some pretty deep ponds so I'm hopeful he lands some big fish. Time will tell though.

Kind of why I'm in a wait and see mode. I don't think all these kids need the *high priced* bait if you will, just some good ol reliable bait and some good tactics.

He certainly is an outstanding, dynamic player. I would love to see a backcourt duo of Nimari and Jaden at Michigan.
