Are Chippewas the best college football team in Michigan?

Submitted by mjv on

I know that neither MSU or Michigan are highly ranked this year and CMU is playing as well as they ever have, but this is taking it a bit far, especially for a team that is 0-7 against BCS teams.  (The water in Midland must finally be affecting their judgement.)

I was pulling for CMU in the Motor City Bowl last year (I always root for any Michigan team). It was a pretty good game too. Obviously calling them the best team in the state is just to get a rise out of people, but after last year, with that one game that happened...yeah...you get the idea. LeFevour was actually only one rushing TD away from joining Tebow in the 20/20 club last year. I'd put money he does it before he leaves.

Yeah, Dex, I saw that "job title" as well, but I was confused because he says in his opening graph that he's a CMU alum. Otherwise, I put no stock in it obviously. The piece was meant to get a rise and be partisan in the process towards the Chips. Kinda gimmicky, but he did guarantee that CMU would beat Purdue or IU this year--if not both--but I dont see that happening unless they've made major improvements on the defensive side of the ball.

but the first line of the article is "(Disclaimer: I graduated from Central Michigan, but am trained as an unbiased reporter. Make your own judgment as to which one pulls me stronger.)" doesn't seem like those two concepts fit together... Either way, this was more on the humorous side, not the Drew Sharp "How the hell can someone of so little talent still be employed" variety.

It's written to draw attention to the fact that CMU is pretty decent, and LeFevour is the bomb.
