247 releases 2022 recruiting rankings
Extremely early but both of Michigan’s commits are ranked - Myles Rowser at 138, Alex VanSumeran at 193.
Michigan also looks to have a decent in state class - not as good as 2021, but some names to watch out are CB Will Johnson, ATH Antonio Gates Jr (yes son of TE Antonio Gates), RB Dillon Tatum and LB Michael Williams.
Jeeze Squirrel you think this is a sports blog?
Ya know, just because we're dating, doesn't mean that I actually have to like you.
Oooh, burn!
Eat fewer paint chips.
Leaded or unleaded?
He’s clearly had his fill of lead.
I'm perfectly normal. My Sparty crush knows that I would make a perfectly good suitor for whoever wants me.
She sent me your picture.
Honestly, I'm a little surprised that VanSumeren is in there.
Also, there's a kid named Christian Rapley from Belleville who's a WR/DB. He's #175 and he's pretty good.
Magnus: if you get a chance check out Cole Barker's highlights on Huddle. He is a 16 year old sophomore from Coldwater, who is just starting to hit the camp circuit. They moved him up this past year to varsity. He aquitted himself very well. He was a 185 pound 15 year old during the season. He is now about 6 ft and 205. Two sport athlete who has the grades and mind set to compete.
Good luck with your recruitment, Cole.
Yup--it is that obvious.
Hudl.
Where did you find this C.Barker fellow, BarkerC?
His mothers womb. Came out right before his twin brother.....havnt been the same since.
Hint: You gotta get your son's/grandson's/nephew's highlights more visibility. A Google search turned up his JV account with no videos. I looked up the Colwater varsity team, and he's not listed. I did a Twitter search for a Cole Barker and that turned up nothing that looked like a football recruit.
So hit me up with a link, and maybe I can take a look. Otherwise...*shrug*...I got nothin'.
Magnus, kinda new to all the apps/technical stuff. We dont do social media as far as twitter, Facebook etc. I have logged into his huddle account to create the highlights. He was a two way starter / player last season. Do you have to get permission from the varsity coach to log in to Coldwater high schools huddle? I can try to send them as an email attachment. If your a coach cant you just log in to view? It took me a few tries to figure out how to create the highlights on huddle. Lol this is what happens when old school meets new school.
If you don't do social media now, I would suggest trying it, even if it's strictly for football/recruitment purposes. That's how coaches do a lot of their recruiting, vetting, etc.
I do have one former player who did not have Twitter, and a couple coaches told me that they appreciated the fact he was staying off social media. HOWEVER, it provides a lot of opportunities, too. We had a kid who wasn't signed late in the process this year, and by putting his film out there on social media in a final push, we got him signed by a really good school that couldn't understand why he wasn't taken yet.
I don't need permission to view Coldwater's team/player highlights. Those things are public if the coach makes them public.
I did get your email but haven't had a chance to take a look yet.
anyone know how heavily michigan targets the st louis area? they usually have some talented players. i know hoke pulled a few kids in his time. just watched highlights of kevin coleman and hes pretty darn athletic. hopefully they pursue that kid, if theyre not already in the process
Michigan has made some offers in St. Louis, but they don't usually go after them hard. It seems like it's been hard to get much traction there. There's some SEC pull and Big 12 pull there, not to mention Illinois, Notre Dame, etc.
I'm more worried about 2021. While OSU's continues to land guy after guy even with no recruiting visits, MI's best players like Payne, Spindler, Dellinger, & Edwards continue to wait and see. UM needs some signature wins in 2020.
It sucks, but it's best not to compare recruiting to OSU right now. They're hitting Alabama levels that just aren't realistic for Michigan until we scratch out a win against them and get a title of some sort.
Michigan is looking good for a lot of really good players, for example Brice Marich of Michigan's 247 site just put in a CB for David Davidkov to Michigan. That would give Michigan two Top 100 offensive tackles in the class. That's excellent. Commits are light, but it's looking like a very good class that can win a lot of games.

While OSU has generally been the better recruiter of the two schools for quite some time, there's no reason UM can't compete with OSU in recruiting without beating them, particularly for MI kids. UM has beaten OSU once since 2004 yet there have been a number of years in that span that UM has had the higher ranked class or have been within several spots in the rankings to OSU. I think with the right recruiting strategy and organization there's no reason UM should ever be outside the top 10 in recruiting rankings unless they have a small class.

That's great, but 2022 is a ways away. I'm still hopeful for Spindler & Dellinger.

Even MI kids don't like getting embarrassed in the biggest game of the season, and then following that up with bowl loss. If winning meaningful games matters to a HS kid, there's zero comparison between OSU and Michigan.

I agree, but that's a different argument. I don't think UM has to beat OSU. I do however think think they can't get blown out by them. They can lose close-ish games and still be fine, but if they keep doing what they've done the last two years that's a different story.
Michigan is playing second fiddle to Ohio State. There's no getting around it. That's been the case most years. If you always compare Michigan's recruiting to OSU's, you're going to feel disappointed most of the time.
Probably why most UM fans are disappointed most of the time.
Call me pessimistic but how can we beat Ohio when they are recruiting at the level they are?
