2020 M Baseball schedule released

Michigan baseball released its 2020 schedule today.  Michigan will start with early-season trips to Arizona, Florida and California, including a televised opener against Vanderbilt on February 14 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Highlights include a very difficult Spring Break trip to California:

at Cal Poly (Fr-Su Feb 28-Mar 1)
at Stanford (Tu Mar 3)
at Cal (We Mar 4)
at Pepperdine (Fr-Su Mar 6-8)

Michigan's home conference series:

Purdue (March 20-21-22)
Ohio State (April 10-11-12)
Nebraska (April 24-25-26)
Iowa (May 14-15-16)

Michigan's road series this season are at Illinois, Penn State, Indiana and Minnesota.  Three of those 4 road opponents will be very tough next season, the fourth will be Penn State.

Michigan's only games against MSU will be non-conference games--one away on April 14 (the schedule on the Michigan website is wrong, I think) and one home on May 5.

Other weekend home series will be against Canisius on March 13-15--wear your parkas for that one--and against Nevada on March 27-29.

A little disappointing on how much the home schedule is front-loaded, and the fact that 2 of the 3 biggest conference series (Indiana, Minnesota) will be on the road.  Nebraska will be the most important home weekend of the year.

So far just one ranking is out--Michigan is #10 in the Collegiate Baseball rankings.

Vanderbilt is #2, Arizona State #5, Stanford #25, Minnesota #29, Connecticut #34, Central Michigan #38.  That's 11 games against top-40 teams, but only 1 at home (Tuesday 4/21 vs CMU).

Should be a top 5 team in the preseason with what we have coming back. Jeff Criswell one of the best pitchers in the country. Ben Dragani coming back from injury. Jordan Nwogu one of the best hitters in the country.
