That was an awesome game to watch.
To appreciate it, you had to have lived through some Michigan history. For us to win a big game in a shootout, in the Rose Bowl no less, was just an amazing thing at that time.
Indeed. The Rose Bowl continued their tradition of treating us like crap by allowing Washington a phantom TD just before the half but for once, a bad call wasn't the difference in the game.

Every time I think of this game, I think of the worst camera angle I've ever seen. For half of last Wheatley's breakaway touchdown run, they switched to a shot of just his head and shoulders while he sprinted down the field.
A lot of people forget that he broke 200 yards in this game in only three quarters, as he had back spasms in the fourth. He really was the most gifted tailback I've ever seen run for us and had he never had injury frustrations I'm sure he'd still hold many school records today.
