I went to 3 games in person that season.  All 3 ended as ties.  Like I kissed my sister 3 times.

Michigan should have beaten ND.  Grbac threw a bad pick on the final drive that would have ended in a FG.

Illinois came back late in a game Michigan should have won.

Grbac was injured vs. OSU and Todd Collins played QB.  That was Herbstreits one shining moment in leading Ohio to the tie.

I remember the 3 ties may have not won all the games but didn't lose any games. Although I think it wasn't until a few years after until NCAA put OT for the games wasn't it 95 or 96 when OT began?

Was supposed to be one of the Best Days of my life -- Instead they tied Illinois!  I remember that sinking feeling to this day!  It was rough!

The season was kind of magical to me due to not actually "losing" a game. As a fan since the later 70s, it was something I had never seen. The 97 season was a whole other kind of special, but anywho.....

I have been subbed on your YT channel for a couple weeks now OP. Thanks for posting the games.

Went to every home game as a student. In that era a tie didn't necessarily destroy your season. But two ties did. And three ties was like dry humping your couch cushion. That season might have annoyed me more than any other BRR.

The ties.

Notre Dame: We were in ND territory at the end of the game. I don't know who Grbac was trying to throw to. Don't bother throwing. Just run Wheatley and kick the game winner. This was also the game where Ty Law got called for the phantom pass interference on 3rd & goal allowing ND back in the game.

Illinois: Over 350 yards of offense in the first half but only 7 points because they kept turning the damn ball over and that seemed to rattle the team at halftime. Moeller going for the game tying FG was the right move because it assured us the Rose Bowl birth.

OSU: The missed extra point was bizarre. We win the game if Grbac doesn't leave with an injury in the first quarter. But the silver lining was this extended John Cooper's contract.
