MGoTarot Reading: Ohio St 2023

Submitted by MGoTarot on November 25th, 2023 at 3:16 AM

MGoTarot is a fun predictive tool that I started after the Covid season to see if the cards were more interesting than the football. Thus began one of the great runs of Michigan football. The tarot card readings turned out to be amazingly accurate and insightful in revealing the outcomes and energies of each game.

The approach is a standard 3 card spread showing elements of the past, the present, and the future outcome. Each card tells a story and together they form a larger story based on their positions. I do the reading within 24 hours of the game for accuracy. The method is to shuffle the cards while singing the Victors. I then lay out all the cards face down in a line and select 3 with my eyes closed using my off hand. This process helps to double randomize the deck so I am not selecting the same cards repeatedly like a poorly shuffled deck of Uno. I like to use the Salvador Dali Deck because it puts a chaotic-modernist/art-history twist on the traditional 78 card Rider-Waite Deck. Plus the cards have an oil-paint smell that is totally groovy.

"If you can dream it, you can do it. Now go on home and snuff her!"

Looking back on this season, the Magician Card fits this team the best. He is a force of will with perfect preparation, intentions, and timing. All season long we have watched Michigan force their will upon all opponents to the point where the Big Ten had to employ some creative means of slowing down these Wolverines. The Magician does not rely upon tricks or stolen signs, he can manifest victory from within himself. In removing Harbaugh what still remains is the talent, team work, and resilience that make up this collection of indivisible individuals that function as an amazing team. Like the number on the card, they are one. Bet.

"You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And now you can't get out of it"

Remember the Hanged Man? You should. This is the fourth time he has shown up this season. This is one of the biggest games in Michigan football history and we have to take the field with one arm tied behind our back because of the digital scouting taboo. The Michigan Collective is anxious going into The Game. They should be well practiced in the devotion and faith necessary to overcome these moments. Ohio State still looms big and no matter how great the last two years have been, it is hard to forget the last two decades. MGK10 had some insights when we saw the Hanged Man last week going into Maryland:

Went down the rabbit hole with the hanged man to look a little deeper for fun; lots of layers.  In this Dali deck he hangs in a swampy forest.  Spooky, but he looks calm and has the feel of a martyred figure and the leg posture gives away who it is: number 4.  He lets himself be hanged for what he believes in.  The vine next to him, an escape an arm length away, he makes no move to reach for it.  The hanged man has to do with paradoxes; winning by sacrifice, moving forward by standing still.

The Hebrew letter Lamed in the upper left corner of the card means to learn, but the learning implied is not merely intellectual.  To revolutionize one's life, it is not with the mind but with the heart.  Change comes through the heart.   Lamed is the only letter in the Hebrew alphabet that stands taller than all the others.  It is the 12th letter of the alphabet.

Regarding the number 12, it can be viewed as a 1 and 2 as well as 12. 12 represents Justice, 1 the Magician and 2 the High Priestess.  The Magician = Will, the High Priestess = Wisdom.  Together they teach the hanged man how to deal with unknown situations.

This team has been dealing with unknown situations all year and has answered masterfully. Whether we are referring to the suspension of Coach 4 or possibly a slow start, smile to yourself knowing we can handle the upheaval this 12th card brings. And what is 12 squared? It is Team 144.

Heavy is the head that wears the headset

For the outcome we are faced with the duality of the 2 of Wands. It is a combination of masculine and feminine energies, and an ability to plan and accomplish 2 things at once. But what does that tell us about the actual outcome? Sometimes I get readings that extend beyond the field of play. Could the duality refer to Sherrone Moore having to be both head coach and offensive coordinator? This does highlight the shift in his decision making within the coaching power structure. As offensive coordinator, he used to make calls for his boss. But now that he is first among equals, there would have to be extra weight to the decision to roll the dice and place your defensive colleagues in a bad position. It is reassuring that the cards have faith in his ability to juggle both positions with grace and wisdom. But what of The Game?

"But they'll pinch themselves and squeal and they'll know that it's for real
The hour that the ship comes in"

DECIDER CARD: Boom! The 3 of Wands, the next card in the deck! In Tarot, the Wands symbolize our zeal and passion. It makes sense these cards come out for the Buckeyes. We last saw the Michigan Merchant for the same exact game a year ago at Ohio State. This card is the good fortune of your ship safely returning from Maryland. The Butterflies of Change have rewarded the fortitude of this team. Even without Harbaugh, they all carry the flame of his enthusiasm within. The Nekkid Lady is symbolic of our deepest desire, beating Ohio. The card worked well last year. So let us make it a full repeat. Look for Michigan to win 45-23 and it will be another big game for Donovan Edwards.

As I viewed your reading, my body tingled and vibrated… my senses have dulled recently.  They appeared to reverberate with your cards. Awakened, alignment, confirmation… GO BLUE!!!

Are you a freemason? I ask because it seems that Tarot is gaining popularity amongst younger and more esoteric minded masons. The artwork on the cards reminds me of the artwork found on the tracing boards, which like the cards are heavy with symbolism and allegories.

Ok, good cards; reassuring. Thank you as always for this reading. A little ambiguious, initially, reflecting the I believe the closeness that this Game will be.

I am so glad they took Roman Wilson out early last game.

The reappearances / patterns are uncanny. It is good you have a long memory. So glad to see a nekkid lady; they have boded well for us all season. Greetings, Lady. We want this win.

I started writing "vindication" at the end of that last sentence, but as the Hangman card reminds us, a victory would supercede vindication, and any hard-fought loss would, I believe, offer little shame: our Coach is Suspended.

The very words I texted someone earlier: they have shot us in the kneecap and tied one hand behind our back over the actions of a rogue employee (plus I understand a backer? May he get his just dues).

If we win, it shows an incredible resolve and ability to overcome ridiculous adversity. Pure grace and desire under pressure, and a supersonic growth spurt in a coach's ability to step into some mighty big shoes, as well as a team's ability to congeal and heal around the absence of yet another coach.

If we loose --it tells little about the full abilities of Team 144, but scores about the value of Coach Harbaugh: he is invaluable. So much so, they painted a target on his back, tried to divide us by inviting us to cut him loose, but only succeeded in suspending him...

just in time for the Game (plus a little earlier that it's not too too obvious).

All that is really proven --regardless of the final score-- is Day's utter cowardice and unwillingness to man up and face the greatest challenge of his professional life.

They have forfeited their honor, not ours.

The outcome cards are helpful. I still think it will take all of us pulling collectively for this team. I know I'll be meditating at half time, sending some steadiness to our slightly-rattled-last-two-game qb, and our growing-wings-as-he-flies Coach Moore.

*

Two and three of wands:

We need to win on the field and off; I like this reading, yes.

We need to change the narrative: a win proves everything about the valor of this team and its ability to adapt; a hard-fought loss says little except the lengths those nuts needed to go to satisfy their fragile egos.

Two & three. Low numbers. Initial ambiguity. I read the cards as foreshadowing a closer score, and/or a low-scoring affair.

Also, am not a numbers maestro but can not help seeing 23.

Look for 23 to figure in our final score, like before (as the Game-specific Wands tell us). Who's 23?

Or perhaps-- either we win by 23, OR could it be?!-- 23 is *our* winning score?

Aspersions have been cast on our defense. Perhaps it is our defense that takes it upon themselves to win us this game. Aspiration:

Get out there and crush some nuts, Shut Down this Mess--

Let's Go! 23-0...

BLUE!!!

Thank you, Wolverista. Synchronicities are like a wink that youre on the right path. These cards remind me of a sequel that may tell a different story but rhymes on many of the same beats that made the original a classic.

Playing with the numbers, we also have 2+3=5. Five is the number of the Hierophant of the deck, Jim Harbaugh. The Fives of all the suits represent a choice to wallow and give up or raise yourself to the next level and find greatness in overcoming adversity. Which seems more like Team 144?

Found this on the 2 of wands:

The Two of Wands taps the same energy as the Magician, but with one important difference.  The Magician represents the archetype of power - the impersonal energy of creativity and strength. Two of Wands stands for that power brought down to earth and made personal.  Personal power is an invigorating force that fills you up and lends you the courage to be great.

Thank you MGoTarot! An honor to be quoted by you.

Again, stand tall and Go Blue!

Thank YOU MGK10! It is depth like this that allows us to see a card 4 times, but still have something to say about it. Traditionally the Magician works in Wands, Cups, Coins, and Swords together. Dali leans more into the Christian imagery bringing divine energy into our existence through the Sacrament of the Eucharist. I like that the 2 does not stay cloistered in Sainte Chappelle, but takes that energy out into the world.
