Apart from some gaudy but mislideaing defensive stats, this team did nothing but break my heart.  How did UM lose to MSU, OSU, or UW?  PSU outplayed us, so ok, but in all of the other games including the bowl game we had the lead and should have won.

Against  MSU the offense was ineffective and the defense was worn down being on the field too long,. Against OSU, the offense had too many turnovers and the defense was worn down due to a lack of sustained drives by the offense. Wisconsin had too much on offense and the defense could not stop both the running and passing games. Once again, the offense did not sustain long drives that lead to touchdowns. The theme in losses has been the same-a lack of effective offense (not enough drives resuting in TD's.)  A Michigan running game would have been a great help. Hard to maintain a lead when you turn the ball over and do not have long drives.

Honestly, I felt worse after losing the Rose Bowl to Washington in the early 1990s, when their defense just clobbered us. I felt worse after losing to UCLA in the 1983 Rose Bowl, when our defense couldn't stop Terry Donahue's pass-first offense (and the refs ignored UCLA holding our DTs and Linebackers ALL F***ING DAY).

It is up to the coaching staff to get the team ready to play September 1, 2018.  I am confident but not certain they can do it.  I remain hopeful.
