Wolverines need to be able…

Wolverines need to be able to disrupt the play while the ball still in Stroud's hands and do so with as few rushers as possible.   OSU receivers are too good for even a very good secondary to consistently blanket, although they could get Stroud to delay a bit if they are effective in disguising the coverages and giving Stroud unfamiliar looks.  It would help if Wolverines can get at least some pressure with the front-4 on D.  The Buckeye o-line is an outstanding unit, so I am not sure if they is a realistic expectation.  If they don't disrupt the timing and take care of the other fundamentals (not miss tackles, get off blocks. and grab a TO over two). It might be a long afternoon.

As I am sure you all are aware. Ohio State D was bad to start the season.  Now they are average and perhaps even above average.  They played their best game against Sparty.  But they are vulnerable none-the-less.  I do expect the Wolverines are going to have some success there.  They will need that success.  And when they are doing so they will need to control the clock to limit OSU's possessions and put the ball in the endzone at least 5 times.

I do think Wolverines have a decent shot at winning this game.  But they are going to have to do it from all sides of the ball. I was really impressed the last time I watched them and how they handled PSU.  So I do think this game is going to be a battle.

Michigan will be the best team Ohio State has faced all year no doubt.  Oregon was a very good team as well, but Michigan now has a season's worth of experience on top of it.  So perhaps the combination of huge expectations, being on the road, and a high caliber opponent will combine to throw off the Buckeyes.  Another thing that the Wolverine's might hope for is that Ohio State is a fairly young team and that the inexperience at a key position or two will tilt the game in the Wolverine's favor.

I'll be honest and say I am nervous for the Buckeyes.  And I think the credit goes to the Michigan team who is playing extremely well this year.  As good as the Buckeyes are, the gap this year feels much closer than in previous years.  So I look for a game that goes into the 4th quarter.

I think many Ohio State fans,

I think many Ohio State fans, including myself were very impressed with the heart and tenacity with which Michigan played.  I do think the better team won, but Michigan played a game that was worthy of the storied rivalry.  There's little shit-talking today because of repsect for what Buckeye fans saw from Michigan out on the field.

As for the decision to go for two, I think that it was a good one since not having a reliable PK in OT could have been a big handicap.  Normally, if it was a home game, I think the decision would have been a poor one.  I can't comment too much on the playcall itself.

Feeling your pain

I feel your pain, Michigan. I attended the 2007 Final 4 when Ohio State lost to Florida and it sucked.  But still congratulation on a great season and taking home a Final 4 banner for the rafters.  I'll not pretend I was rooting for you all, beacuse I wasn't.  But your basketball team has earned some respect from me, so congrats on an otherwise great season of hoops.  Michigan had a great team, but it was Louisville's year.

I for one, always try to make

I for one, always try to make opposing fans feel welcome and have occassionally admonished some of my Buckeye brethern for exhibitng behavior that was rude tot he opposing fans.  You do have to expect to be razed a little when you go on the road, but that is all part of the experience, in my opinion.  Not all of us are so hospitable to opposing fans, but things have gotten a lot better over the years.  Nowadays, there is a sort of unspoken agreement amongst our more evolved fans that while we can't really eliminate all the douch-baggery we can try to make up for it by being exceptionally acomdating and friendly.  Any of you are welcome anytime to watch The Game from my tailgate and enjoy all the food and libations available, so long as you don't mind watching the game on a b/w cathode-ray TV while locked in a porta-potty.  Kidding of course.  Most of us really do try and do a great job.  But it only takes a few bad ones to make things miserable for others.

Bronxblue, If you could be so

Bronxblue, If you could be so kind as to produce a handbook of proper fandom, the Buckeye Nation would be greatly appreciative.  We realize our shortcomings and look to you to instruct us.  We too want to be able to proudly display our school colors in as morally superior of a manner as you are able to.  That way when Michigan does beat Ohio State again one day, we can chase the chill of defeat from our sorry bones by wrapping ourselves in the virtue of our own moral fiber, just as you do.

I look for a very good game

I look for a very good game from your team on Saturday.  Ohio State is a very good team, but I would not call them great.  And the way Gardner has been playing, he could really give Ohio State fits.  I still like my Buckeyes to win the game, but it is going to be a fight to do so.

I don't think so.  Even if

I don't think so.  Even if all the chips fall that way, I think there would be voters who would not let that happen due to the bowl-ban and vote Ohio State down.  As it is, one voter dropped Ohio State 6 places this week from #8 to #14 for beating Wisconsin and having teams in front of them lose.
