Taylor wasn't really even that good in HS, so not sure why he'd succeed here

He did an amazing job at M, no question. But as someone who is very familiar with Ford and what is happening there, I can tell you that there are many questions about him--particularly among Wall Street investors in Ford, which this article summarizes. It is not an unfair article.

Why? Why not post on the largest by far site with the most traffic by far to see your stuff?

it is in August, when we are starved for football

Yep. It has been the custom on the board since I've been here to do the headline and then a key quote or sentence from the article before the link.

I'm a tv snob, but TCL is getting some quite good reviews lately, especially on Cnet

Agree on Spieth since it's a major. He hasn't been the same golfer though to me since he blew that lead at the Masters.

Speaking of the PGA, this is my least favorite major by a long way. There really isn't anything special about it, it's like a regular tournament except all the top guys play. The Masters has Augusta, the US Open is different because it's usually a brutal test, and the British is links golf and well, British. The PGA has nothing unique about it.

While this may be true, we don;t know for sure it is

Two people on eleven warriors claim to know that Urban is resigning

08/01/2018 - 1:12pm Correct IMO. If he knew and…

Correct IMO. If he knew and said nothing, I wouldn't fire him since he has no ability to fire Smith--Meyer was the boss. and I'd say that if he coached any school

08/01/2018 - 11:28am Yes I also blame the coaches

Yes I also blame the coaches

07/30/2018 - 11:30am Honestly that's a fact free…

Honestly that's a fact free take. I've counted two political posts from Brian this year. And yes some threads get lots of politics, but that's always been the case since I've been here

07/26/2018 - 3:33pm Take those stats about the…

Take those stats about the explosion on growth of employment and salary at the Athletic department and apply them to the rest of Michigan and most colleges in the country, and you get a large part of the picture of why college costs are the way they are

Dantonio is already elite, I think that's pretty clear, especially after last year's rebound

07/21/2018 - 8:44am Agree with a lot but not…

Agree with a lot but not Shea--he's getting way too much hype for a guy that hasn't played in the offense, and who actually got outplayed by his replacement last year after his injury. Their offense is very QB friendly, so it reminds to be seen how Shea will do here. I do expect him to be much better than anyone here last year though, so that will be an improvement

07/21/2018 - 8:35am When we thought Harbaugh was…

When we thought Harbaugh was getting close to being hired I like everyone was happy. Not because I thought we were going to win NC's, but because I thought it would put us back in a consistent top 10/top 20 status, which to me is elite. If last year is an anomaly and we will 10-11 games every year, I will take that and run and be pleased for M football. I've seen the opposite and never want to be there again.

I can totally understand not liking the new site design or any sites design/layout. But what mystifies me is how anyone could visit a site who's content they love less, because of the design.

07/17/2018 - 10:11am Excuse me but it's a fact…

Excuse me but it's a fact that football athletes (which I'm discussing, not non-revenue sports) get spending money in addition to the scholarship, free food, free medical, etc that they have access to

07/16/2018 - 12:15pm that's cool and I get that…

that's cool and I get that. I see red when people state, with zero actual evidence, that athletes are taken advantage of and not compensated. And that is objectively untrue.
Until they stop doing that, I'll keep pointing out the facts that football athletes are treated as kings on campus, get tons of free benefits, and actual compensation.

Still totally on board with Rosen's proposal.

07/16/2018 - 9:03am Totally for this. With the…

Totally for this. With the provision (I'm picky like this) that we call it giving athletes more compensation, since they get quite a lot now, particularly any football player that isn't a giant star.

Curious--what exactly is better there?

07/02/2018 - 6:10pm 8-4 will cause some real…

8-4 will cause some real unhappiness and questioning of JH that will make this year look like nothing. Many fans will get off the boat. Like Connelly I was at 9-3 last year, so given the QB situation I was ok (though disappointed obvs) with the record. I'm going to say 9-3 again this year if only because of the horrible schedule (Dave Brandon should burn in hell for allowing the all rival games on road every other year). And one of those wins must be a rival game. 10-2 I think would be a success under that same qualification.

Sorry for threadjack--but how does a veteran guy post new content to the board on the new site?

I'm guessing it was designed by engineers

06/29/2018 - 10:28am They are dogmatic because…

They are dogmatic because they've read the conclusive data that proves that recruiting rankings are important to team success. They haven't read the rationale for why they aren't entirely predictive though

06/28/2018 - 12:47pm I say that because I believe…

I say that because I believe Belgium has better players and is a better team than England. Some of that may be influenced by England's past failures, past teams with better talent have flopped

06/28/2018 - 11:28am Belgium yes, but England has…

Belgium yes, but England has played bad teams to date--Panama was absolutely awful, embarrassing

06/28/2018 - 11:25am Yes but I think if you're an…

Yes but I think if you're an England fan as I am you kind of hope to lose today. They aren't beating Brazil for example in the next round, well unlikely anyway

06/26/2018 - 10:05am Someone smart should develop…

Someone smart should develop an offer metric score, quantifying how good a given prospects offers are, and I agree with a measure like that it might in fact be a better metric than a star.

06/24/2018 - 2:43pm Can't tell if you're…

Can't tell if you're adressing me due to this new board, but I'm not down on signing any individual 3 star at all, to the contrary. But I am getting a bit concerned at the large preponderance of 3 stars in our '19 class. I'm drawing no conclusions, just saying I'm nervous

06/24/2018 - 2:40pm Disagree, several point to…

Disagree, several point to winning percentages of the teams with better recruiting results. Bill Connelly factories this into his analysis.

06/24/2018 - 12:47pm Sorry, you are objectively…

Sorry, you are objectively wrong. All you have to do is read the many, many studies of this to conclude there is no real debate--recruiting stars overall do matter. It's not a matter of opinion. Don't cite the exceptions that prove the rule. Just google, that's all you need to so, and you'll read 5 studies within 20 minutes that show your position is wrong.

06/24/2018 - 12:43pm I agree but... I admit to be…

I agree but... I admit to be a little shaken in confidence at this point. Recruiting rankings do in fact matter, that is no longer a matter of debate with any serious person. And the predominance of three stars coming after what I thought was an expected recruiting off year is making me a bit squirrely

06/23/2018 - 2:59pm "McCartney was the best…

"McCartney was the best musician and it's not even close." You are correct, though this is seldom acknowledged because of the different camps of "John was best," or Paul was best, and generally speaking it's cooler to say John.

In fact one of the reasons John tired of the band was that Paul generally speaking ran the band and came up with the direction for each album--Sgt. Pepper was Paul's idea, as was Abbey Road, and other Beatles triumphs. In fact without Paul we would have had at least one fewer Beatles album, because the others the last couple years were far less interested in recording, and Paul pushed them.

Amazing, tears in my eyes the entire time. So positive, desperately needed in these times.

I wish they would scrap one and done--in favor of two and done, not just scrap it

I haven't heard an American announcer yet who compares to British announcers. If I turn on a game and hear an American I'm always disappointed.

I got a political science degree there, decided not to pursue law school, and made a career in marketing/advertising. Political science has "science" in the name but doesn't really require any :)

06/12/2018 - 3:37pm Why is it that all these old…

Why is it that all these old players look well, so much older and more mature than today's players? Friedman and Kramer look like MEN, our players today look like large powerful kids.

Most likely Samsung will make Dolby Vision available in a software update

06/06/2018 - 12:41pm Not according to almost any…

Not according to almost any review on the web of TV brands. Sony is good, but reviewers don't see any superiority for them

06/06/2018 - 12:40pm I have a Samsung and live it…

I have a Samsung and live it. Great video processing, HDR (you want this) and also one of the brightest TV's there is. TV's with high light output levels (there is a lot of different levels among brands) work especially well if like me, your main TV viewing is done in a fairly bright room. If it will be in a basement that's less important. But Samsung video processing is top notch

is that code?

Correct. since I can't upvote this I'm typing agreement

05/31/2018 - 9:23am Objectively speaking

this is not a great team, and it's really silly to call it great. That isn;t my opinion, it's a fact based upon last year's offense. Now, this year we may become a great team (fingers crossed) but we are definitively not great.

05/25/2018 - 3:43pm Your take on Izzo is silly

and could only be written by a fan of a rival school. The idea that he is a "rape enabler" is ludicrous on its face and really dumb besides.
