The Kraken inaugural season…

The Kraken inaugural season came right after my move to Seattle - and it's been the only local team I've fully embraced, so that's where my rooting interests lie.

Or you know - have a dad…

Or you know - have a dad that's a top agent in the NBA

Who?

Who?

I suspect there are more…

I suspect there are more that joined the team as walk-ons; Joey Burzynski is another guy I recall that worked his way into some playing time and did biomedical engineering.

And that was before the game…

And that was before the game started.

Hockey was great with NHL…

Hockey was great with NHL players participating - but most recent Olympics did not include them; will be interesting to see what happens in the future. Still watched a bunch of games, but much harder to get excited when you don't recognize many of the players.

EDIT: Looks like they will be back for the next 2 games, so a big win in my book. I also didn't realize NHL players had only been in the Olympics since 1998. Realize it wasn't always the case, but figured it was at least more similar timing-wise to basketball.  https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/30625255/nhlpa-boss-donald-fehr-expects-nhl-follow-plan-2022-olympics

It's the right to bear arms though....nothing about legs in there

Looks like PAC-12 isn't in the coaches' poll (Oregon also missing)

Cross country is interesting…

Cross country is interesting in that many of the same participants would also compete in Indoor/Outdoor track - not really seeing the logic behind that one

Hemingway was indeed an alum. Basketball-wise Iman Shumpert is probably the most notable.

I don't believe UCLA and Cal…

I don't believe UCLA and Cal are part of the CSU system - there is a separate UC system they fall under. That said - this impacts schools like San Diego State, San Jose State, etc. which have D1 programs

Not expecting a check here -…

Not expecting a check here - had I held off a couple of weeks with filing my 2019 taxes, would have been on the other side of the AGI based on 2018 numbers, though based on the phasing out from 75-100K, would not have expected much.

On the off chance that my 2019 return was not processed before they determined amounts which are being sent - I would likely donate the couple hundred dollars to one or two of the organizations I volunteer with. One of these organizations offers free tax preparation for low income families/individuals - and with tax deadlines pushed out they continue to evaluate how to support the communities we work with moving forward, which may need to be remote/require additional tools/resources - so figure they could use the help.

I'm fortunate that my job is likely to remain stable for the foreseeable future - and have a decent amount of savings to protect against unexpected changes to that.

It is based on Adjusted…

It is based on Adjusted Gross Income is my understanding - since deadline for tax filing has been extended to July 15th (from April) - the latest numbers IRS will have for some people is from 2018 tax filing.

Need to confirm - but if you've filed 2019 taxes - then it might be based on that number.

Yeah - definitely a bummer…

Yeah - definitely a bummer for the athletes who have been preparing. That being said - the sooner a decision is made, the sooner those same individuals can start laying out a plan for a postponed event, whether it is a year from now or at another point in time.

Exactly - and for sports…

Exactly - and for sports like track and field, not having the meets (collegiate, professional, etc.) which enable people to even qualify for the trials presents an additional challenge.

Imperialism Map is what it…

Imperialism Map is what it was called - latest can be found here.

Michigan gets back on the map with the win over ND - seeing Illinois on there this late in the season is just bizarre.

We also have a transitive…

We also have a transitive win over them...so 1-1 against EMU?

On a semi-related note - does anyone remember the map (somewhere on Reddit) which would get updated as teams beat opponents and took over their territory (plus that of any opponents that they had beaten)? Was that a basketball thing?

Upon closer look - I also…

Upon closer look - I also overestimated THJs scoring average, figured he would have had at least one season where he was averaging at least 20pts - but he hasn't done that at all. Figured he would have had at least one outlier season in there to get the deal he got from the Knicks, but just remembered the general reaction to the deal was fairly negative.

I would think THJ might be…

I would think THJ might be on the list higher than #60 - or at least would have been in recent years.

I think Caris will end up higher on the list in future years - especially if he can stay healthy.

I thin you mean ‘THE Cooler…

I think you mean ‘THE Cooler Pooper’

Perhaps the MGoLawyers can confirm - but I believe the $75K is a minimum for filing certain types of cases which dictates what jurisdiction/court will hear it

Much harder to follow when games aren't regularly televised live - though I do check scores/highlights, usually after games.

Hockey games were my favorite sporting event to attend while at Michigan - only regret was not getting season tickets before my senior year.

Talk about RB depth - that's…

Talk about RB depth - that's impressive

Ended up T-1 with 2 others,…

Ended up T-1 with 2 others, but get the 2 seed based on tiebreaker (head to head record) - primary lineup as follows:

QB Deshaun Watson

RB Todd Gurley - my first pick at #2, our draft was 1.5 weeks before the season so Bell was taken #1

RB Chris Carson - initially had Jay Ajayi as my #2

WR Brandin Cooks

WR Larry Fitzgerald

TE Travis Kelce

Flex Doug Martin down the stretch - Funchess earlier in the year

D/ST Texans

K Fairbairn - started season with Matt Bryant, Jason Myers when Bryant went down, and eventually Fairbairn

Subs : Frank Gore, Kenny Stills, Willie Snead, Blount (recent pick-up), David Njoku, also had Dez Bryant for a while

12 team league so not as much depth as I would like. Definitely relatively weak at WR but more than make up for it at RB1 and TE, solid D/ST and K as well. Only regret was probably dropping DJ Moore around week 4

My guess would be Texans or…

My guess would be Texans or Bears - Texans due to return of multiple key pieces coming off injuries (Watt and Watson) and Bears due to a pretty decent defense from last year getting better with the addition of Mack. Bears also lost something like 6 games last year by less than one possession - so it's not like they were being blown out.

Post-race assessment - not…

Post-race assessment - not thrilled about the course layout, mainly the stretch of the first and last mile which had people running in both directions on a relatively narrow stretch of the lakefront trail. My guess this was a non-issue for the start of the 10K - but became an issue when the 5K was starting and 10K finishing. Also the sharp turns  coming into the finish area weren't ideal.

That being said - I'm glad they did it on the lakefront. Last time they had it south of Soldier Field - they had us running stretches in the loading dock areas of McCormick place - which on a hot/humid day is no picnic.

I'm doing the 5K. Not sure…

I'm doing the 5K. Not sure if others have participated in past years, but for me this year's race seems much more disorganized (i.e. website has limited information,  packet pick-up wasn't particularly well organized). Hopefully race day goes smoothly though.
