Indiana defeated Michigan 5-3 to qualify for the NCAAs.

Oddly enough the State of Oddly enough the State of Michigan has vibrant and large high school water polo participation. I believe around 60 high schools have teams. Contrast this with Indiana, the other Big Ten polo program, the State of Indiana has no high school polo.
As good as it is, the water As good as it is, the water polo team has virtually no chance of winning the national championship. Stanford has already beaten them 15-6 at Ann Arbor. The difference between being ranked 6 and being ranked 1 is vast in women's water polo.
You're right

Ohio State only has one rival.  The OSU program is historically defined by how it does against Michigan.  I believe this is because of UM's sucess early in the last century and OSU's efforts to emulate it.  Cooper never got it, he wore a blue suit with a yellow tie to his first press conference and later said that:  "I guess Michigan is the big game around here."  Tressel of course wore a gray suit with red tie and later made his half time speech about being proud of the team in x number of days in Ann Arbor. If you asked Tressel right now how many days to the Michigam game he could tell you.  There is a count down clock in the lobby of the football center and another one in the weight room.  Ohio State only has one rival.

You're right they played a You're right they played a fall scrimmage with some other NCAA programs and UM's club team (which was beaten badly by JHU). I was thinking in season, where the chances are pretty close to zero. Didn't consider fall ball, should have as it is often used to spread the gospel of LAX.
There are a lot of delusional There are a lot of delusional posts on this board. I don't think John Hopkins is planning on coming to Ann Arbor any time soon to play a club team. There is a vast difference between club and top end NCAA Lax. Hell there is a vast difference between the top of the NCAA and the middle. UM should play NCAA LAX, there are plenty of high schools in Michigan playing very good high school lacrosse. BTW the best NCAA program at UM may be the women's water polo team. LOL
