Yes, as a rule of thumb, or 10 percent of your yearly salary. If you make a 100K, look for a 10K ring. I would take the future wife ring shopping.

Me and the Wife split a bottle of '09 Syrah, from Solis winery near Gilroy, CA. We picked it up during our 2010 trip to CA.  This was a great syrah and paired well with our steak!

Do we get all of our lost points over the last month?  But nice to see the point total changing again.

Until the points get fixed, it's just like shooting blanks!

07/12/2018 - 9:30pm I really don't care about…

I really don't care about politics being inserted into threads. The thing that gets tiresome are the trolls who come on here an bash the program. There has been big increase in negative trolls who bash our recruits, bash our coaches and our fans. The trolls are a much bigger problem on the new mgoblog than politics.

07/12/2018 - 2:45pm I'm sure the MODs have…

I'm sure the MODs have political biases, so I'm not surprise some posts are deleted or modified while other political posts are allowed to stay. I just hope this site does not creep towards how my current face book account has become. I have friends on both sides of the political spectrum and every day they post political hit jobs on everything and everyone. It has gotten so bad, I really never look at my FB news feed any longer. For the most part this site remains sport orientated but I see more political posts popping up on sports threads. I just ignore the political posts but if the frequency increase and sport content decreases, then this site will start slipping for those who come here to read Michigan sport news and discuss Michigan sport topics.

07/09/2018 - 2:09am Harbaugh is building both…

Harbaugh is building both depth and talent. Eventually he will win the B1G and reach the playoffs than the 5 stars will be coming in droves. Face it the elite players want to win a national championship and is the reason they go to Alabama, Oklahoma, OSU and Clemson. One day Harbaugh will get us there. The program is back on track and the trajectory is in the right direction no matter what the trolls have to say.

Save the UFR xcel sheet into a delimited  file and write a perl script to parse out what you need. I wonder if Brian does this to create stats on everything.

07/08/2018 - 3:58pm I think QB sack stats go…

I think QB sack stats go back quite a few years. You may be able to find a relation between QB sacks and QB hurries and extrapolate that back before the qb hurry stats were kept. Yes, before Rick Leach's soph season, Michigan probably ran the ball 85 percent of the time, so much will need to be normalized before 1976. Though, I remember the '76 OL was quite good. The right side dominated defenses with Dufek and Donahue. Lytle and Huckleby got quite a few yards running right.

07/08/2018 - 12:37pm Early 90s along with '99 had…

Early 90s along with '99 had great OL. '06 line was good enough to give Henne some time to complete his passes. I thought the '86 OL played rather well, if not for that Gopher game the regular season would have had 0 losses. I can't believe Cooper beat us in the bowl game that season.

07/08/2018 - 12:18pm An OL efficiency parameter…

An OL efficiency parameter would be nice. I would say 2017 and 2008 probably had low scores. 2001-2002, '95-'97, '86 and '76 may have been our better OL?

07/08/2018 - 4:37am Yikes, hard to believe this…

Yikes, hard to believe this will be 12 years ago when we play ND! I wish we had our '06 OL but may be our current OL will be serviceable.  I still worry that Shea will throw some INTs and this game could be close. But ND offense will be having a tough time against our D. Harbaugh needs to start winning big games on the road.

I always get little bits ads? I kind of wish they were sexbits ads.

Winning 10 games this season will got a long way in keeping the kids we have so, far and getting those top recruits who have Michigan on their list.

I like hearing the news on JBB. I hope his pass blocking is improving! Sometimes if takes a kid with talent 4 years to get it.

07/06/2018 - 12:59am If we go 10-2, the only two…

If we go 10-2, the only two loses you would want would be against ND and WI, since winning the remainders of the games would allow us to win the B1G east and perhaps a rematch in the B1G championship game. Though, I would like to see this team win a big road game in South Bend. I think it is possible unless the OL is a total train wreck? But our D will be giving ND all sorts of problems.

07/06/2018 - 12:53am I would be nice to beat ND…

I would be nice to beat ND and we should, for pay back about the big blowout loss under Hoke. Plus, this game should be played in Ann Arbor.

I like using chicken breast strips instead of wings. Taste better and you don't have to chew through the rough skin and cartilage on wings.

In Kansas, I can light off anything. Growing up in MI, it was all illegal. All we got were sparklers and smoke snakes when I was a kid.

07/03/2018 - 5:13pm It will be important for…

It will be important for Harbaugh to win 10 games to keep these recruits in the fold. If we have a 7 or 8 win season, some of these recruits may jump ship. 11 wins and Harbaugh will have some of the late 5 stars  wanting in.

07/03/2018 - 5:09pm I think Gary is hungry for a…

I think Gary is hungry for a national championship. If we are close this season and 2019 looks like a good bet given a slightly favorable schedule I would not be surprised if Gary and Shea stay another year.

07/02/2018 - 2:11am How far are we away from a…

How far are we away from a full recruiting class. I thought we had only 18 spots for 2019. Attrition could open a few more. If Shea and the OL perform well, Michigan could win the B1G and make the playoffs. If this were to happen a lot more top ranked recruits will want to sign. Any ways Eric Gray is a great pickup at RB. Welcome aboard Eric!

06/30/2018 - 3:06pm As a walk on you had to know…

As a walk on you had to know you are in the 100-105 range, so any transfer or recruit will bump you off the team. I hope your friend does not develop a bad attitude. I would tell him to keep working out and stay in shape. As long as he stays enthusiastic, he may get back on the team during the season if there are injuries. I know a lot of friends who tried to walk on in the early 80s and they were all dismissed right away.

Overall the site looks spiffy. But my spell check does not give me the correct spelling like the old site. I can not edit my post, if you made a mistake, like you could on the old site. It seems more difficult tp post links, pictures and embed videos. I feel like I'm back in the 90s working with raw html code.

The 2018 class may end up being much better than what many fans along with pundits who have claimed Harbaugh has whiffed on recruiting in the 2018 cycle.

Yeah, when you are very young the grim reaper sits on a  park bench miles away, after 50 you look back and you can see him gaining on you. After a while he's on your heels ready to sickle your ass down. You are born to die, so enjoy the ride. A lot of times the riches people are the most unhappiest in life. Find something you enjoy doing and make a career out of it.  Role with the ups and down in life.

06/27/2018 - 8:46pm The last 10 years, Michigan…

The last 10 years, Michigan football has become the most stressful thing in my life. I love watching and attending Michigan games but growing up in the late 60s-70s you always expected Michigan football to be great and it was through about 2007. Having Harbaugh as our coach is like a dream come true, now I'm getting stressed out since I want Harbaugh to start winning big games and B1G championships and make it to the playoffs. I can wait, since I know it will take time but you never know, this could be the season where Harbaugh wins the B1G. No stress at my job, since I've been working at it so long and I'm so good at it, my job has become so fucking easy! Once I retire in 9 years, I'll need a bigger challenge.

06/25/2018 - 12:21am As far as OL coaching,…

As far as OL coaching, things can only improve. Last year there seem to be major confusion on assignments and techniques. I think Ed will do a good job coaching which will improve our OL, may be not up to pre 2007 Michigan standards but at least average B1G performance.

06/22/2018 - 1:16am Pay back from our only…

Pay back from our only blowout loss last year. I hope we shut them out 45-0. If we have any chance of winning the B1G we need to beat PSU at home. I'd like to beat WI at home as well but if there is a home game we can lose it would against WI.

Or that Mo had changed  his mind about the NBA and was heading back to Michigan for his senior season.

06/18/2018 - 4:53pm If Michigan beats OSU, of…

If Michigan beats OSU, of course Michigan will be B1G east division winners by any tie breakers. If OSU defeats Michigan, there's not a chance they will take Michigan over OSU, especially if OSU defeats the west division's team in the B1G championship game.  Now, if there are only few other one loss teams out there,  Michigan's strength of schedule will help possibly getting the 4th big over a weak conference champion in the PAC12 or Big 12.

I went with Hulu 3 years ago. As long as they keep the Big 10 network, I'll keep them. My wife likes having more cable TV options with Hulu.  For the sports package, I was paying close to $300/mo with my cable company. I still keep their high speed internet which is only $80.00 month, so I cut my bill in half.

I always though Kalamazoo was a nice town, at least 30 years ago when I lived in the state. Detroit and Flint does not surprise me.

06/13/2018 - 8:12am A MS degree at Michigan…

A MS degree at Michigan would be great for George, and if he wants to try out for QB more power to  him. Peters should not be threatening to leave the program if he is not the starter. That kind of talk is no way to win Harbaugh over. You have to earn the starting job and it is possible Peters has the talent to do so but if Shea beats him out then Peters can make his decision based on where he finishes in the roster against Dylan. If Shea has a great year he probably is NFL bound next spring. If Peters stays he could battle it out against Dylan and George. Though, Peters will probably transfer is he is the 3rd or 4th string QB this season.

06/11/2018 - 11:12am Given how great our Defense…

Given how great our Defense will be our floor will be 8-4. The five tough games on our schedule, @ND, WI, @MSU, PSU and @OSU. Out of these tough games I doubt we would lose all 5 of them that is why the floor this season is 8 wins, even if our offense sucks again. Odds are is that we will split the tough games and finish the season at 10 wins. However, if Shea turns into a good QB and our OL improves,  I think we could 11 or 12 games and win the B1G.  I think we may lose a tough opening game at ND and we may have a tough loss to WI but could win the rest of our games. We then would play WI again in the B1G championship game and I think we will beat WI.

06/10/2018 - 9:01pm George RR Martin new book…

George RR Martin new book has or will come out in the next month called fire and blood. I've been waiting for that 6th book but this one goes way back in time to when the Targaryen kings ruled. Kind of a disappointment, since I've been waiting for the Winds of Winter.

06/07/2018 - 1:32am Very true if we had an…

Very true if we had an average QB, the only loss would probably be @PSU.

All I had to do was change my password. Old password would not work on the new site.  But overall a thumbs up to the new site.

06/04/2018 - 3:12am Most of knew the awful recruting at the end of the Hoke era

was going to come up and bite us in 2017. I expect the team to improve this season. The younger talent will have more experience and getting a talented QB like Shea may be the break through piece of the puzzle. Michigan will be in the B1G race due to our great defense, and if Shea can score some points we may have a fantastic season. I still think position depth building will continue and our 2019 class we be dependent on  how well we do this season. Win the B1G and make the playoffs we will end up with a top 5 class. Win 9 games and a bowl game we will do well recruiting and the coaching staff will have to work hard to find those 3* prospect with high upsides. The trend will be for Harbaugh to turn Michigan back into a true contender for B1G championships as well as national championships. I can't believe there are fans already jumping ship. Don't worry we'll let you back on after we start winning a lot of the big games.

06/04/2018 - 2:55am Also having a starting QB

who could not hit open receivers 10 to 30 yards down field don't win you games as well.

06/04/2018 - 2:48am The defense let a freshmen QB

make big plays to take the lead. Our weakness on defense last season was in part our secondary, more so the safeties. The '97 team held the lead against OSU.  I hope our defense just creams them in Columbus. It would be great to see a repeat of the '76 game where we shut those bastards out in Columbus 22-0.

06/04/2018 - 2:35am One of my favorite commercials back when I was a kid

Also back in the 70s we could beat OSU at leas half the time. Hopefully Harbaugh will get our program back to winning 10 or more games and at having a .500 record against OSU.
