Props for making me almost

Props for making me almost spit out a mouthful of Dr Pepper at work.  That was a very funny sentence.

Seconded

There is so much jumping around and craziness going on, then for a split second there is a hand on her stomach.  If a creep was really "feeling her up" I don't think it would take a few re-watches for her to realize it.

I'm not saying I'm 100% sure there were no ill intentions, but that's kind of the point.  I don't think anyone could get a 100% decision from watching that, so maybe toning back the "creep in the headband" comments would be appropriate?

Dubs, I have used your joke

Dubs, I have used your joke several times now since I saw it almost ten minutes ago.  Normally I would feel bad for stealing your material, but Mencia made it okay for all of us.  Plus I am razzing OSU fans, so I'm sure you won't mind.  Props to you, my friend.

Nice to hear about Fred Nice to hear about Fred Jackson kicking ass on the recruiting trail. I love his confident approach that stops short of arrogance. With all the fun we have with his hyperbole, I sometimes forget what a great recruiter he is.
Something I found interesting

Something I found interesting in the article was the fact that Kelly has succeeded at Oregon without "his own" staff-  most of the staff is made up of Belotti's guys.  Now it helps that Chip was a coordinator and knew them already, but still-  usually these super successful coaches bring in all their own people.

It just makes me think that Kelly is good at adapting to the situation, which I hope is the case.  I don't think anyone expects the Browns to run the exact same scheme as Oregon, but if he adapts his offense to the pro game and his personnel, there could be good things in store for Cleveland.

But probably not.

I hope we bust out the play

I hope we bust out the play from last year where you baited two Buckeye defenders into running into each other (cue the three stooges sound effect) then caught a TD pass.  It's easily my favorite play from last year's game and It obviously worked to perfection, just like you guys drew it up!

GO BLUE!! BEAT OHIO!!

Wait... that would indicate

Wait... that would indicate dishonesty, and we all know Urbie is a straight shooter.

Unfortunately, I have lived

Unfortunately, I have lived about 20 min away from Buckeye Ground Zero for the last 17 years.

There is kind of a weird vibe going on, the sanctions have hurt the hype machine that is usually going 100% during a week like this.  OSU fans are still as confident and obnoxious as ever, but it's kind of nice seeing how much the bowl ban has dampered things for certain individuals who would normally be going all-out.   I'm kind of glad it ended up this way, with them being undefeated.  We get a shot to ruin the ONLY "prize" to their season.

It seems like our defense is the key to this particular game.  If we can defend Braxton similar to how Wiscy did the other night, we'll win.  The Buckeye defense has been suspect all season and the only reason they snuck away with a victory last weekend is the Badgers QB situation.  Devin will have chances to complete throws down the field, our defense just has to keep Braxton under control.

I know that terrible I know that terrible announcers seem to be the norm nowadays, but Dear Lord, Chris Martin has got to be the worst color guy that I've ever heard. I was doing double takes the whole game. My favorite line was when he was talking about one of our defensive players... "He's truly made himself into the player he's become." Well... yeah.
RIght...

Because Urban is obviously in charge of scheduling and it's totally feasible to change next year's schedule if you "have the balls" to do so.

I hate OSU but good lord, they've scheduled Texas, Miami, USC, and more to come.  I think they're doing okay as far as scheduling OOC opponents.

I'm pretty sure I'm straight...

...but Brady is looking pretty doggone sharp in that jersey.

I always dreamed about

I always dreamed about playing football in the Big Ten conference, and now I have my chance!  It's not like Iowa could turn me away just b/c I'm a 25 yr old slow white dude.. they pretty much have to take what they can get at this point.

EDIT:  My ACLs and I just had a talk and they nixed that whole idea... oh well.

Love the unis

These were by far my favorite road jerseys... the only away duds that even came close to rivaling our home blues.  Somehow the blurry, low resolution broadcast from 2000 makes them look even better.  Magical, somehow.

Ohhh that's right

I forgot how much everyone here likes reading the exact same opinion 100+ times in a row.

/drinks mgoblog kool-aid...   Only five years!?? Make it ten years, dammit!!!

I must have missed all this NCAA love when they handed down our sanctions for stretching too much.  M Wolverine probably pointed out that it was "completely within the NCAA's purview" to do so.

Thank you Dawggoblue

I was beginning to think I was the only one who felt this way.  I'm sure everyone here would just shut up and take their medicine if the NCAA obliterated the Michigan football program for criminal actions of 3-4 department officals.

Not currently listening to it, but...

"Take a Walk" by the Passion Pit has been on repeat in my head for what seems like a week.

Now I will!

He is very underrated as a singer, IMO.  I've always wished he would take a break from the goofball lyrics and mediocre movies and put out a serious album or two.  His range is huge and he has the perfect "raspiness" for rock vocals.  You would think Dave Grohl would've hit him up for another side project by now.

Love it

Those are the kind of plays that get me all warm and tingly.  Don't get me wrong, I love watching Denard in the spread offense... he's one of the most exciting players I can remember... but I definitely won't mind seeing some big ol' fullbacks lead the way for the Michigan power running game I've come to know and love.

The encouraging thing is that Borges seems to like to mix it up.  I doubt we stop recruiting athletic QBs and I could see a Brady/Henson situation down the road where we have different players with different strengths coming into the game to run a variety of formations.

Love it ixcuincle

Comments like these are why I love mgoblog.  I'm scrolling down, checking out what everyone has to say while thinking about the topic, then bam!  A hilarious comment out of left field that makes me bust out laughing.  Give yourselves a round of applause, everyone.

I hope that made sense.

Lin

Not sure if anyone was watching the j. Lin halftime piece, but how can you not like the guy after hearing that interview??  He's the anti-Bron.  It shouldn't be a surprise that he's so smart, going to Harvard and all, but it's shocking to hear a young rising star who is so heady about the whole situation.

A conundrum...

How can I tell if I cook better when I'm high?  If I cook it when I'm high, that mean I just partook in some recreational activities, which means I will also be eating it whilst high.  Anything and everything tastes better when I'm high so I will never be able to judge it impartially.

How is the play calling

How is the play calling killing Denard??  Borges called a lot of short passes, that's why Denard had a decent completion percentage.

Borges also calls some Denard keeps like everyone wants, but they aren't going for big plays like last year.  Our offense just scored 31 on one of the Big Ten's best defenses, and we were inches away from two more TDs.

And this the players' first year system... give it some time, even if it isn't perfect after 10 games.

42 points??

Going with Illinois isn't crazy, but there's no way that offense scores 42 on us.  They've only cracked double digits once in their last three games!  Our defense won't give up more than 20 to the Illini.

Gilbert Gottfried

Gilbert Gottfried used something very similar in his roast of Bob Saget a few years ago:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=f26tqqbvj3M

He's not really my cup of tea, but I thought his whole bit was pretty funny during that particular roast.

I love the guy's excuse for

I love the guy's excuse for wearing the OU shirt... he "got dressed in the dark"?  I guess he didn't look down the rest of the day and notice the big Oklahoma logo on his chest.  I agree w/ fhshockey-  he definitely did this on purpose.

I don't know if it justifies Gundy going off to the extent that he did, but that seems to be Gundy's thing.

It's okay

It's okay, I'm a rapper so I'm allowed to actually type the word out.

Yeah there was some dude who

Yeah there was some dude who kept trying to trick people into clicking on porn links... looks like the mods finally booted him.

Pumped Up

Watching this video got me all jakked up for September.. only a couple months away.  Some good editing, I enjoyed everything except the god awful music but that's obviously just personal preference.  The "turn up the lights" lyrics made sense but it's kind of distracting to hear some rapper drop a bunch of f-bombs and "nigga this nigga that" while I'm trying to watch Shoelace decimate ND's defense.

Obviously if the offense

Obviously if the offense becomes lousy enough to lose us football games, there will a legimate room for criticism.  I just don't understand the pessimism about Borges ability to "handle" Denard.  DR is obviously a huge talent, but Borges is a veteran OC and has proven he can adapt to different types of players.  No, it's not going to look exactly like RR's spread, but just b/c we're not running the shotgun spread n shred all the time doesn't mean DOOM for our offense.

I'm looking forward to seeing the RBs and TEs used more, but that's just me.  I guess my point is, I don't know why people seem to be so down on Borges-  his offenses have been pretty good at his last few stops.

I understand that a dynamic

I understand that a dynamic offense is an important factor, as well as other things we didn't have last year (do I need to even mention the obvious= FG kicking).  I am just dreading some of the comments that will come when we don't rack up the same numbers as last year.

Hoke and his staff are going to put together their own unique gameplan and as long as it is better as a whole, I will be one happy camper.

I am pretty sick of hearing

I am pretty sick of hearing the argument that goes "We put up a bunch of yards last year, and we're returning a bunch of starters on offense, so we should put up even more yards this year."

We returned a whole bunch of starters (future NFL starters) in 2007 and look what happened.  If we don't rack up a whole bunch of yards this year, it's not nessecarily because Hoke forced the offense to regress-  what matters are WINS and that's where I'll be looking for improvement.

A+ so far

Before Hoke was hired, all I read was how we need someone who's up to the job of repairing such a "fractured fan base" and how tough it was going to be for someone to come in and fix the "mess" that we were left with.

With all our returning starters, we were definitely set up for improvement this season, but Hoke has the positive vibes flowing around the program in a way that is truly amazing when you look back a few months ago.  Him and his staff have obviously been busting their tails and it shows.

I hope he sues the PANTS off I hope he sues the PANTS off US Air... Oh yeah.. I said it, and I don't regret it one bit
I think what people need to

I think what people need to realize is that anytime you do something different like this, there's never going to be total agreement...  the important thing is that our players love them (especially our star player) and it brings positive attention to the program.  I don't exactly love them but I love Michigan and this is going to bring attention and revenue to the program.. now let's go get the W and be 1-0 in the bumblebee jerseys!!

I understand the analogy but

I understand the analogy but keep in mind that it's 2011 and there are a ton of websites that lead info, pics, news, etc... it's hard to keep a lid on anything these days.  The NCAA has been pretty weak sauce in the past (see Cam Newton) but there is just so much evidence floating around in the public eye.. they can't act like it doesn't exist and expect anyone to believe them.

Well he's doing his job so

Well he's doing his job so far- he talked Kalis into staying for now... but hopefully that changes

The dude obviously knows how to recruit though, probably a smart move to stick with him for awhile, seems like he knows how to calm these kids down.

Yeah those first couple picks

Yeah those first couple picks were a great example of how to "become the receiver."  Once the ball was in the air, he went after it like it was his.

Not trying to thread-jack or

Not trying to thread-jack or anything, but I can't start my own thread and thought some might enjoy this-  a great article on how this kind of stuff affects the fans of college football.  It mentions Michigan and the Fab 5 stuff.

World's Greatest Dad

I'm not sure if this is "indie" enough, but if you're into dark comedies, you need to check out "World's Greatest Dad" w/ Robin Williams... the writing is top notch and it is absolutely hysterical.

I don't think it ever came out in theatres b/c it isn't exactly a "mainstream" comedy

Hey I'm kind of new to

Hey I'm kind of new to mgoblog, just started reading last year... I have obviously noticed the Muppets posts when something good happens, funny stuff, but can someone explain where it began or how it started?

Turd Ferguson, it's a funny

Turd Ferguson, it's a funny name.. *chomps gum*

I don't care where he went to

I don't care where he went to school, that is some funny stuff.

If you look at the comments under his post, it looks like he already ruffled a few feathers.

I'm biased, b/c I think Norm

I'm biased, b/c I think Norm is the funniest guy in the world..

But I've seen a few critiques about his material on this show not being "current", and I don't think that is really the whole point of the show.  He uses a few current stories but also has funny bits using some older stuff too.. I don't think that is a detriment to the show b/c it's all funny for the most part, and even if he uses a clip/story you've seen before, his take on it is usually very different.

Tosh.0 does web redemptions for internet clips that are 5-10 years old and I haven't heard any similar criticism of that show.  Just my two cents.

Btw, if you get the chance to see Norm's stand up live, DO IT.  I saw him a few years ago and it is the hardest I have ever laughed in my life, by a wide margin.

The only reason that the

The only reason that the Sugar Bowl win is safe is b/c the NCAA specifially declared the five players eligible for the game-  there's some weird rule that lets them postpone the suspension if it's a championship game or bowl game.

If the NCAA had not ruled them eligible for the bowl game, that could be vacated as well

To each their own, but I

To each their own, but I would much rather see the pre-RR type of receiver we used to recruit- Avant, Manningham, Breaston, just to name some recent non-#1 WRs.  Of course, some Terrell, Walker, Edwards types would be nice too!  I just don't feel like any one of our current WRs is a "go to guy" who steps up every game, someone you can always go to on a big 3rd down.  Hopefully someone steps up this year.

Agreed

It's completely understandable, I just think that if you look at the first paragraph by itself (like in the original posting) it sounds a little more devisive and negative.  I liked the honesty by RVB, I just don't think it's as polarizing a comment as some people think.  Plus Hoke seems to be doing a great job at smoothing out some of those little dysfunctional wrinkles that have formed over the last 3-5 years... whether you like him or not, there is definitely more of a positive buzz around the program lately, but that will quickly disappear we don't produce on the field.

Hoke should call him and tell

Hoke should call him and tell him he forgot his wallet.. better come get it right way.  That way, Ann Arbor will be fresh in his mind all week long.

Good point

This is a great point... for intstance, Braylon's MNF introduction where he says "Lloyd Carr's University Of Michigan."  Yes, kind of a dick-ish thing to say and doesn't help at all, but how many players would go to that much trouble to publicly express how they feel regarding the situation at their alma mater.  Helpful/tactful/classy?  No.  Shows he cares?  Yes.

I just sincerely doubt that all these former players decided "Hmm the new coach is from West Virginia?  Screw it, I don't care about Michigan football anymore."

If you read the entire

If you read the entire article, he adds:

"It's good to have them back but at the same time, it's new all of a sudden, which is a good thing.  It's good to have alumni back supporting us."

It's definitely understandable to see where he's coming from but overall it sounds like the players are happy to see the the former players and alumni more involved, even if there's been an absence over the last few years.

Yes

Yes, just like in the pros.  I'm guessing the reason they put this rule in place is the ending of the UNC-Tenn bowl game-  UNC couldn't get all its players off the field in time but they hiked it anyways to spike the ball with :01 left.  They were flagged for illegal subsitution and penalized five yards, but the :01 remained on the clock so they could still kick a field goal.

I think this is a good rule change, it makes sure that a team isn't rewarded like UNC for committing a penalty.
