06/13/2018 - 2:11pm Assuming he's a one and done…

Assuming he's a one and done, I think Michigan, with the addition of him, would have an excellent chance at winning the national title in 2020.  And that would be another great selling point.

06/13/2018 - 2:09pm Yeah well, that's the way…

Yeah well, that's the way you become when you're Duke.  You assume every top prospect can't wait to enroll at Duke and you can cherry pick who you want.

06/12/2018 - 1:38pm That stinks.  I think I'd…

That stinks.  I think I'd not go swimming or boating in Ford Lake for a bit.  Too bad the women rowers practice on that lake.

06/08/2018 - 10:45am Well, it would continue our…

Well, it would continue our streak of 5* running backs who either wash out, transfer, or don't have productive careers.  Bummer.

06/08/2018 - 10:42am Well, the McCaffrey boys…

Well, the McCaffrey boys certainly didn't feel it necessary to go to the same school.  Maybe all of them want to chart their own courses football-wise.  Good luck to him.

06/07/2018 - 7:17am He meant Beilein and the…

He meant Beilein and the Pistons as the two groups.  Not U-M.

06/07/2018 - 7:15am I like the way you think. …

I like the way you think.  Beilein is so smart, I wouldn't put this past him.  Either way, I'm really pumped to "get him back".

I'm also glad the site is back up.  Looks like people are having issues with posting gifs/images.  I'll have to give it a try later.

06/01/2018 - 6:49pm I think you may be right

The question is why is it necessary for him to do this?  Hasn't this issue dawned on Warde Manuel?  Michigan basketball is on the cusp of a whole new era of  continued high level success.  Let's hope that the powers that be in the Athletic Department don't let it slip away.

06/01/2018 - 1:15pm Hell yes!

That play is etched in my memory.  I never let my wife forget how she left the stadium early to go back and study, while I stayed (we were dating at the time so I didn't start  bringing it up until after we were married).  She got to somewhere on State St. when she heard The Roar from the stadium and ran into some store that had a TV on.  Memories.

05/31/2018 - 1:05pm Obviously, if he did want to come here,

scholarship room on the roster would need to be found.

05/30/2018 - 5:34pm I could see Matthews being one of the top scorers in the

B10 next year if he works hard on his shooting in the off season.  Without a doubt the right decision for him.  Go Blue!

05/30/2018 - 4:11pm Hell yes!

Hopefully Jalen Wilson will Go Blue today to make the day complete!

05/30/2018 - 3:59pm The fact this decision has dragged on for

so long clearly indicates Matthews is really uncertain which way to go.  It's making me really nervous.  Hopefully, he will come around and realize that coming back will be the best thing for him at this time.

05/30/2018 - 10:22am Amen on needing Matthews next season

If he leaves for the NBA, Michigan's ceiling for next season definitely drops.  I can't see a grad transfer, even if we could find one, nearly picking up the slack.  And there probably aren't any good enough high school guys left in the 2018 class who have any interest in MIchigan.

05/29/2018 - 11:42am I was going to answer

no, but what's the point now?

05/28/2018 - 3:30pm Hot isn't the word for it

Here in Ann Arbor it has to be a record high for the day - probably around 95 right now.  Yesterday it was about the same.

Remembering my Great Uncle John who died in the Pacific in WWII.  On my bucket list is to visit his grave in the Punchbowl in Honolulu.  Have a great Memorial Day everyone!

05/24/2018 - 3:07pm He won't go unless he's stupid

In college, he can use his ability to con high level recruits to come there where he can cruise to an easy winning schedule every year and get into the NCAA tournament.  In the NBA, where there is much more talent parity, his mediocre coaching ability will be exposed and everyone will be able to see behind the curtain.

05/24/2018 - 3:03pm Seriously

You know as certain as sunrise and sunset is, Beilein will have a winning record against him eventually.  And the national media dipshits will still be raving about how great a coach Izzo is.

05/23/2018 - 8:17am It probably had nothing to do with his

decision, but I'm going to tell myself that the shitstorm going on at MSU over the last years soured him on East Lansing.  $500 million is way too cheap for them to get out off the hook.

05/21/2018 - 1:59pm 15 yards of mulch is a frickin HUGE amount

for someone's yard.  Fine for a commercial building  I guess.  Beilein must have a big property.  I agree though with the large snow shovel as the best way to move it - at least shredded mulch and not the big chips.  I prefer cedar - the smell is the best of all of them.  Some mulch plain stinks like shit.

05/17/2018 - 4:16pm Except that it takes an absolute eternity to

get there.  Like a 13 hour flight to Seoul, then another 6 hour flight to Bali.  And then you do it again coming back.  With only 5 days, I'd look closer.

05/17/2018 - 4:13pm "I know that Eddie"

"I know that Eddie"

05/17/2018 - 1:13pm If we get 2 Top 50 guys for 2019

I'll be ecstatic.  That would be 3 strong classes in a row, which will give Beilein all the talent he needs I'd think.

05/16/2018 - 2:27pm Don't they have an endowment fund?

They should take it out of there, although there is probably some restriction on using donations to pay for lawsuit settlements.

05/15/2018 - 11:23am When JB wins a national title here, it will be

one of the happiest days of my life.  I just love to see the good people in life finally get the rewards of their hard work, sacrifice, and loyalty.  Every time I see one of these cheating snakes win the national title it just gauls me.  We need to appreciate every day JB is our coach, because when he retires, he will be impossible to replace.

05/14/2018 - 11:45am With that comment, you must be

the 'bag who negged the OP.  Good grief.

05/10/2018 - 3:14pm This is at the core of the problem

It keeps happening because Wizzo and Mork aren't placing enough of an emphasis on character when vetting possible recruits.  Then, after they get to MSU and commit a crime, the system of victim-blaming, non-accountability, and looking the other way takes things from there.

05/09/2018 - 11:14am So he's the one who wears the

Water Buffalo Lodge hat?  I always laugh when I see that guy walking up the aisle.  I wonder if he made it or bought it somewhere?

05/08/2018 - 1:18pm That's part of it

I think the assistant coaches are also tearing it up on the recruiting trail as well.

05/08/2018 - 1:17pm I had to log in to upvote this

Other than the great Michigan sports information, the Monkey Rodeo is one of my favorite MGoBlog features.

05/07/2018 - 7:14pm He looks damned good in that #10

Let's hope he makes the right decison and Goes Blue soon!

05/07/2018 - 8:22am Great looking prospect

This kid would be a huge get for Michigan.  I love the fact Coach B and the staff are shooting for some really talented, highly rated players that fit Michigan's system.  An NCAA Finals appearance and 2 B10 tournament titles in the last two years opens some doors I'd think.

05/04/2018 - 12:46pm The shorts

That's why I logged on - to comment how much I hated those uniforms.  Looked like maize and blue treadmarks across the pants.  Ugh.  If Warde Manuel ever agrees to anything like that, he'll going to need to get an unlisted number and delete his online accounts.

05/04/2018 - 11:38am Obviously all this depends a lot on the player,

how skilled he is, what kind of offense the team runs, and his level of physical development coming in.  Some players are ready to play their first year and others need time to develop.  I think the pressure to win and money involved has a bearing on it too with coaches feeling like they need to do whatever it takes to win.

05/04/2018 - 11:35am Yes, strictly speaking we don't need them... BUT

we can certainly use one or two of them if the right ones come along.  If Beilein can find a 5* here or there who fits his system, is solid with academics, and wants to stay at least 2 years, it would give Michigan a big boost potentially.  It isn't going to happen very often, because most of these guys get snagged by the sleazy one-and-done snake oil factory programs where they don't have to go to class.

05/03/2018 - 12:50pm Recruiting at the OL has definitely

been a part of the problem.  There have been too many wiffs at the tackle position over the past 3 year.  I'm talking here about 4 and 5 star guys who are pure tackles - not some sort of tweener who falls in between somewhere.  Maybe Drevno was a large part of that problem.  But it will continue to effect us until Warriner cleans it up.  On the bright side, assuming Ruiz is what we all expect of him this year, him and the guards should mean Michigan is very strong in the middle of the OL.

05/02/2018 - 12:56pm ???????

05/02/2018 - 12:53pm At his height, Matthews will not succeed in the NBA

without much better outside shooting and FT shooting.  Case closed.  He needs another year of college to work on that.  Wallowing in the NBA's development league for 1-2 years will not help him nearly as much as one more year with Beilein.

04/30/2018 - 8:18am Ditto on the too far below ground level

If memory serves me right, there's an underground stream that runs underneath the stadium that will always create water issues with real grass fields.

04/26/2018 - 3:44pm Self is NOT a very good X's and O's

coach.  He wins with overwhelming talent due to being an excellent salesman (recruiter).

04/26/2018 - 8:17am I think we all could have done without

your post.

04/25/2018 - 7:35am I just read an article about this movie that

said none of Bill Murray's characters lines were scripted.  He just ad libbed everything.  Amazing.

04/24/2018 - 11:27am Dang it, I logged in just to

make this comment.  Why has she stuck with that d-bag anyway?

04/23/2018 - 8:29am Poor QB play definitely

cost us 2, maybe even 3 games last  year.  If we had even solid QB play last season, we wouldn't be talking nearly as negatively about the way the season went.  Yes, the OL needs to improve.   But the QB had more than enough time on many plays last season and still made bad throws.  If we fix that this year, Michigan will have a good year.

04/21/2018 - 3:05pm I don't really understand this

There has to be someone in either the 2019 or 2020 classes we have a higher chance with who has a bigger upside.

04/20/2018 - 8:36am Unlike some of their coaches

EB seemed to be a classy, good person.  He definitely got hosed by the school when he was fired.  I remember how Bob Ufer used to refer to him as Earle "Darth Vader" Bruce, but I don't where BU came up with that or why.  Probably just a good natured jab at a rival.  RIP Coach.

04/20/2018 - 8:31am You have to listen to the whole podcast to

get the gist of what Sam was saying.  He prefaced it by saying IF Patterson has any kind of good year as QB, he will be likely be out of here.  But I agree.  Let's take one step at a time and worry about things like that when we have to.

I also agree about Castleton.  Especially if he come in and provides some offense right away while Davis is struggling to find the basket.

04/19/2018 - 2:02pm It's not that people can't distinguish fantasy

from reality.  It's more that we're not doctors and don't hang around Grant all day to see what he's been going through to rehab.  Add to that how tight-lipped the football program is about injuries, and it breeds this kind of optimistic speculation.  Sort of the "no news is good news" effect.  I think until Grant himself comes out and says "it's over" people will hold out hope - whether that seems logical or not.

04/18/2018 - 8:17am "Tuesday tend to have the lowest prices...."

This.  Be aware that the airlines know when more people are looking at airline reservations (Sat/Sun) and will charge higher prices on those days.  They'll drop a cookie on your computer and know what you've been searching for.  So, if you see some weird price differences when checking the airline sites, clear your cookies and look at it on Tuesday.

04/17/2018 - 4:23pm Brent Spiner and the actress playing his wife

sound just like that hick couple from the Simpsons - can't remember their character names though.  Very funny.
