We have a substantial lead on amount of users (+700), but what must be our weakness is we have less average star power than the other contenders. I am guessing this is because we got going a little later in the game?

My dad recently passed on a prized family possession to me-- the flag that draped my grandpop's casket for his service in WW2. He served in the navy and toured around Japan. He and his best friend both made it home safely with minor injuries and shared so many stories of their time with me, including my pop meeting my grandmom when he came back for treatment.

I could be wrong, but has a Michigan team had this little power in recent history? I would like to see how little home runs this team has compared to the past.
|05/20/2018 - 1:25pm||They can be really effective||
They can be really effective if they can consistently chop it really hard into the ground... but it takes a lot of skill. From my viewpoint as a bystander following the team, Michigan has forced previous power hitters into this role because of their speed and the need to fill this made up role.

We should try to get some midweek games in during the B1G season with Notre Dame. They were a bubble team as the 2nd best team in the ACC.... so it could help us both out. They can replace EMU. I'm pretty sure MSU and ND do it, so theres no reason we couldnt. We are really limited beyond that, though with options. Pitt/Louisville?

Like others have said, great regional draw. Making supers was always this teams ceiling without great pitching depth or reliable hitting, so the chance to get some experience, possibly in a super against #1 Oregon will be perfect for our young squad.
Also- who was it that said I was crazy that Michigan would be treated as the highest 2 seed and probably go to Kentucky?!?!?!? ;-)

12:00 #2 Minnesota vs #7 Wisconsin
2:30 #3 Indiana vs #6 Illinois
4:30 #1 Michigan vs #8 Michigan State
8:00 #4 Northwestern vs #12 Iowa
The Iowa-OSU game was crazy. It looks like our RPI will get no help, though. I was reading on another forum, most people believe that Michigan will be treated as one of the top #2 seeds by the committee no matter what happens here on out (A few still believe if Michigan wins the B1G Tournament, the committee would consider them for the 16 seed). They have done it in the past with teams that are known to be extremely dangerous with their ace pitcher but have a lower RPI.
I have a strong feeling we will get paired with a 3-seeded Notre Dame (The RPI match up almost perfectly for this) and go to whichever team is in the 10-16 range of #1 seeds close by. This sets up a Kentucky-Michigan-Notre Dame regional, which the committee has booked a million times.

Looks about right. Side note: I just noticed we are playing a nonconference game @MSU today at 3.
|05/09/2018 - 9:05am||This happened I believe 2||
This happened I believe 2 years ago also. IIRC, #2 seed Minnesota beat us in extra innings... I remember it being at Penn State's field. They should just start it Wednesday like the SEC and have the Championship alone on Sunday. Or either reduce the field or expand it to all 14 teams and give byes.
If the keys are completely in Beaubien's hands for the remainder of the season, as I suspect they will be, no break might be better. In softball, it might be better to just keep throwing straight through rather than have a break.
|05/08/2018 - 11:55am||Pray for Georgia's Regional.||
Pray for Georgia's Regional. They were on track for a possible top 5 seed before their Meghan Beaubien got injured. They will probably get an 8 or 9 seed. I saw a projection with #8UGA and #9FSU. Georgia is very vulnerable now and we shutout Florida State earlier this year. This would be a gift from above.
|05/07/2018 - 9:33pm||From an RPI standpoint, we||
From an RPI standpoint, we want to face #40 Nebraska, #27 OSU, and then #28 Minnesota... I would like revenge against Minnesota if we can get that far.
|05/07/2018 - 6:51pm||2 vs 3 seed doesnt really||
2 vs 3 seed doesnt really matter, as they play each other in the opening round. I think our regular season title would bump us up to a 2-seed, if it matters. At this point, it's all about the match up. If we can avoid the likes of Oregon, UCLA, Florida, and Oklahoma completely, I'd be happy. A perfect situation would be landing in the region of say, #10 South Carolina #11 Arizona or #12 LSU (hypothetical seedings) and having a much more managable upset. Then the Super Regional would potentially by @ #5 Arizona State, #6 Washington, or #7 Florida State. Landing in the #8/#9 regional wouldnt be bad either. So we hypothetically want to finish in the #22-25 range as far as the committee is concerned. That would mean probably the tournament championship, and I think they committee would then automatically put us ahead of any B1G teams that have a higher RPI in addition to whatever numerical bump that gives us with the wins. This is impossible to predict, though. After the top 16 is seeded, they take chunks of teams in close rpi ranges and weigh in location, too. The further away from the top 16 you fall, the more location is weighed in. The low 3-seeds and 4-seed auto-bids basically get sorted completely based on location.
|05/05/2018 - 9:32pm||I looked it up, we hosted||
I looked it up, we hosted last year for Purdue. Rutgers I think was ineligible due to insufficient facilities, so it has moved on to Wisconsin this year. Rutgers' softball field-- you cannot call it a stadium-- is literally a spruced up t-ball field with a folding table behind home plate for the scorekeepers.
|05/05/2018 - 9:27pm||ABC order. This year is @||
ABC order. This year is @ Wisconsin. I forget what happened, but Michigan got an extra shot hosting out of order recently because we filled in for, I believe, Purdue. They passed on their year at the last minute due to a coaching change and possibly other issues (???) and Ann Arbor/UM was the best last minute replacement. I believe it happens over a lot of other B1G schools graduation weekneds, so hotels were an issue (UM graduation is over, town is emptier) and of course we have great facilities. So I would imagine we will host again in a few years after the "i" schools and Maryland?

Right, my point is where were they yesterday against the Lions. They could have at least kept some pressure on us.
|05/05/2018 - 3:34pm||I forgot to include||
I forgot to include Softbal!!!!! Ahh. So that makes 7 B1G regular season tiles. Based on my math, that gives Michigan 7/21 regular season titles so far in the conference, with an additional 2 tournament titles in sports we did not win the regular season.
We will not be winning the men's/women's lacrosse titles being crowned in Ann Arbor this weekend.
Outdoor Track & Field, Rowing, and Baseball are still in play. This is a pretty dominant school year--claiming titles in roughly 1/3 of our sports-- considering we compete with 15 other schools (Notre Dame and Johns Hopkins are highly competitve in their single sports). Plus, our title in our non-B1G sport, Water Polo.
