Split the rivals and drop a home game we shouldn't. Depending on that split, could be enough to win the division

05/08/2015 - 11:10am From personal experience (SEC-oriented)

Here's how I'd rank the overall stadium experiences just from the gamedays I've attended.

1. Camp Randall: Went for road games in '05 and '07. Place is just a nuthouse. Great student atmosphere. Home fans are jerks during the game but morph into delightfully helpful midwesterners immediately thereafter. Fantastic experience despite the two close losses.

2. Sanford: Top-tier SEC environment. Consistently loud. They're eventually going to expand over 100k like the others, but I like that they purposefully aren't going to fully enclose the bowl because they want to leave the view of campus open behind the scoreboard. Stadium is right in the middle of the campus- somewhat inconvenient for parking, fabulous for tailgating.

3a. Jordan-Hare: Another solid SEC fortress. Gets the tiebreaker nod over Clemson because the tailgating scene is so much more efficient- you'll almost certainly be in a random field somewhere, but they have a great bus system to run you right up to the stadium.

3b. Death Valley (Clemson): Stadium environment virtually identical to Auburn's, except that their upper deck seems much steeper and scarier. Good view of the lake though. Loses tiebreaker because like Auburn you will also be tailgating in a random field, but you'll be walking from there to the stadium. Their pregame schtick is way overrated. Team gets on a bus on one side of the stadium. Ride the bus to the other side of stadium. Touch rock, run down hill. I don't get the hype.

4. Michigan Stadium: Press boxes helped a bunch. Put the goddamn keys away.

5. Williams-Brice Stadium: SANDSTORM SANDSTORM SANDSTORM. Their pregame schtick (2001 theme + smoke tunnel) is way underrated- it's probably my favorite overall. Lower on the list because the stadium is a good ways away from their campus and the surrounding area sucks.

6. Neyland: Shadow of its former '90s self. Feels like you're in a giant erector set the entire time. Vol Navy is very cool though.

7. Spartan Stadium: Feels like a bland concrete 3rd-world Olympic stadium. Not much going for it. Worst fans, by far, on this list.

Have not been to games in Baton Rouge or Alabama, though I suspect LSU would slide in to at least 2nd if not 1st on this list based on what I've seen and heard.

07/23/2012 - 3:41pm woof.

Green tea. Makes the practice MBEs go by faster.

06/10/2012 - 4:01pm I would read them all.

Season 1 of the show was very faithful to book 1, but you definitely miss certain character aspects that the show couldn't or didn't illustrate. Example: the last episode of season 1 had an encounter between a character and his father that, in my opinion, really did not show the level of emotion that was a) present in the book and b) very important for later events.

Season 2 started out the same way but certain things ended up deviating completely. Some characters were markedly more humanized in the show, some never showed up, and at least two appear to have been killed off by the end of the season, while they're very much still around by the end of book 5.

Book 3 is the best, but it can wait. Start at the beginning!

09/05/2011 - 4:53pm As a current UGA grad student...

The issue for UGA fans isn't that they've had so much traditional success that they think national titles are their birthright. It's that for at least the past decade, Georgia has consistently been the most underachieving team in the counrty. They've watched Richt pull in top 5 recruiting classes year after year (see: his labeling this year's crop the "dream team") and watched Richt and/or inept coordinators squander that talent.

Oh, and if losing 7 straight to OSU drives us all completely insane... imagine how Georgia feels going 3-18 against Florida (their biggest rival) since 1990.

If they drop the game to Sakerlina this weekend, I don't think anything short of running the table will help Richt save his job.

05/18/2011 - 3:01am Grizz fan checking in

Gotta say so far, OKC and their 2-man game (3 if Harden shows up) have been incredible to watch. They outgunned us in the semis mostly because Westbrook limited himself to only 2 OMG I GOT THIS games out of the 7, and the great D on Durant just can't be done 4 games out of 7. KD is as pure a scorer as I've seen since Jordan a dozen years ago and it really doesn't matter who guards him.

I just know that if I had a rooting interest any more, Dirk's off-balance one-foot maybe-sometimes-fadeaway game would absolutely infuriate me. I'd take Dallas in 6 but this is gonna be a fun one to watch. If Nowitzki keeps this kind of shooting up, it'll be over sooner. At this point... anyone but Miami.

05/05/2011 - 8:52pm Keystone Light

Keystone... that's messican, right?

Any day that sucked for the French is a good enough excuse for me. Cheers.

04/13/2011 - 1:50pm All Black

Wearing all-black uniforms for home games in the hottest state in the country?

Well this won't end poorly at all.

Always liked McNair better.

03/21/2011 - 10:34pm I think at this point I would

I think at this point I would settle for not being absolutely certain of a missed field goal 25 yards before the ball crosses the plane of the uprights...

03/20/2011 - 8:09pm THIS

There must be some kind of massive amnesia on the boards, because two days ago Tennessee had 16 free throw attempts to Michigan's *1*... and no one complained about the refs in that game.

The refs didn't screw Michigan in this one. It wasn't perfect, but it was better than I expected for playing Duke in Charlotte. Traditionally people point to Duke players drawing offensive fouls/charges more than guys in other uniforms probably would in the same situation. Today the only two plays that came to mind were when Morris pushed off Smith while bringing the ball up court (questionable no-call that went our way) and the charge that Novak committed (definitely the right call; Duke guy had position).

Whining about the refs does a huge disservice to our team's performance. Duke had a size and talent advantage at virtually every position, but for the last 10 minutes of the game I saw All-Grit-tastics outplay All-Americans and Beilein completely outcoach TEH GRE4TEST COACH EVAR, BROUGHT TO YOU BY AMERICAN EXPRESS.

03/19/2011 - 9:56pm Dumb play, dumber coaching

If I had known Jamie Dixon could so massively blow a game like that at the end, I would never have picked them to win it all...

1.4 seconds left, no timeouts for either team. Your shooter just made his first free throw to tie the game. Now, one of two things can happen:

1) He makes the 2nd and Butler has 1.4 seconds to get off a halfcourt shot or Laettner heave

2) He misses, and Butler has to do the same thing but can't position themselves during an inbound and have to do it on the fly--> they aren't getting off a shot closer than halfcourt

Regardless of which one happens, why oh WHY do you have your players try to go for that rebound when you know Butler is in the double bonus? None of them should have been on that side of the court. Dixon had more than enough time to gather his team and explain all these things while the refs were checking the time on the first foul. Just plain dumb.

09/25/2010 - 10:51pm We scored more points than

We scored more points than any game in 24 years BUT WHY DID WE LET A 5TH BALLCARRIER GAIN 50+ YARDS WHEN WE DIDN'T HAVE TO LET HIM REALIZE HIS DREAMS THIS WEEK

...is what I'm hearing

09/25/2010 - 6:54pm False.

The only way strength of schedule really matters is if we were gunning for BCS consideration. I think we can all grudgingly agree that won't be happening. We won't drop in the rankings just because teams we beat start losing. To hell with Notre Dame.

09/25/2010 - 4:37pm Meteor Game

Mallett is a douche who referred to himself in the 3rd person on Gameday. But I grew up hatin' me some bama.

Ergo: ZE METEOR GAME

09/12/2010 - 10:51pm If Crist stays in the game

then ND walks away with it. Michael Floyd's lack of impact in the Michigan game was an aberration and I think they solve it on Saturday.

As far as rooting interests, it's pretty simple. I'll take the brothers-in-arrogance fanbase over Team Tribal Tatz any day.

09/01/2010 - 11:39pm BHGP

The BHGP readership seems to think the realignment was one giant HJ for OSU and ourselves, with most pointing to the fact that we have all our in-conference rivalries protected. They're also pissed about their guaranteed Purdue game, which is admirable since they value hate/tradition/etc over having an "empty" game they'll win 7 times out of 10. If I were Iowa's AD I would see what could be done about moving the Iowa State game to the last week of the regular season at some point in the future. They suck, but at least it's an actual rival.

08/31/2010 - 12:43am MTSU #25

"This ranking is based on [Dwight] Dasher's availability; without him, MTSU's ranking would drop 80 or so spots."

Last I checked Dasher is suspended indefinitely for cash money/gambling issues, so that means WOOOO WE'RE NUMBER 43
