Hamilton My point was more that Pep may not be the best playcaller more so than Fisch is some savant and the greatest playcaller ever. During his time in Indy (2013-2015), Pep's offense finished no better than 29th in total offense each year. Yes, Luck went bonkers in 2014 and had an absurd 4700 yds and 40 TDs but he did that in spite of absolutely terrible running game featuring Trent Richardson. I haven't checked all the fancystats but my guess is they will come out the same way.... not very good. I watched that trainwreck, would prefer not to have to watch another one. I'm also not sure how much of this is really Pep's fault since I'm not sure how playcalling responsibilities are divided up. See my question in my original post. Presumably he has some responsibility for playcalling as Passing Game coordinator. I'm just pointing out that he is the most significant change on the coaching staff and that seems to be one of the areas where we are struggling. Maybe it's just the pains of breaking in a bunch of new starters (many of whom are underclassmen), maybe it's not.
Hamilton<Fisch As a fan of the Indianapolis Colts (don't judge me!), this is exactly what I was worried about when we announced Pep Hamilton's hiring. He sucked something fierce while he was a coordinator for the Colts and he was one of the worst play callers I've seen in a long time. Everyone knew exactly what he was going to call and the offense became highly predictable. I was hoping his return to college football and Harbaugh would prove that it was just the inferior talent he had to work with and the limiting nature of a 53 man roster. Does anyone know how playcalling responsibilities work for the offense between Drevno, Pep and Harbaugh? Seems to me we took a massive downgrade when Fisch left for UCLA.
