Oops. Looks like Lo Charles is there. But I still don't like it. Where's Bobby Knight and Isiah or Kent Benson or Quinn Buckner?

03/11/2018 - 12:03am I'm going to give them credit

I'm going to give them credit for including Elvin Hayes, but where are all the other notables that didn't play for Duke or North Carolina? Where's Danny Manning, Oscar Robertson and Glen Rice? The background images of the cover is national and it is terrible. If you're going to show Bryce Drew, Jimmer and Farokhmanesh, then you should also show U.S. Reed, Whittenburg/Lo Charles, and Tyus Edney.

It's fun to be on the other side of the bubble chatter, having teams like UCLA and Texas root for us so that we can drag them into the tournament with us.

I stand corrected. The Spartans punched North Carolina in the mouth in that game, and Bridges was still recovering from the ankle injury. That was a nice win in Portland. I hope you have the same great success against any ACC team you face in the tournament.

It will be interesting to see who the committee puts in Detroit.

Yes. I think any coach would survive 21 years with Bo’s record “in the age of Twitter.”

Based on end of regular season AP Poll rankings — and I understand this is not how teams are selected today — Bo’s teams would have played in six playoffs and would have been the next team out of five others.

01/28/2018 - 9:47pm Interesting question. If

Interesting question. If asked to singe out one season, it would be 1984 Tigers from 35-5 to the title. If asked to single out one moment, it would be 1997 Red Wings hoisting the cup. For era I have to go with the late 80s Pistons, starting with the gradual climb over the Celtics and then the Lakers and all the drama along the way. That Piston's era featured great players with fascinating personalities and a tremendous head coach.

And Michigan shut out Northwestern that day at Michigan Stadium.

I agree with this post. Let’s here about systemic cover ups by coaches and admins. It’s senseless to bring up an incident from 1982 and invokie the name of a former South Quad RA.

Do you know of a place nearby that has really good Sprites?

01/16/2018 - 1:39am Forgive?

I don't forgive you and others who doubted Beilein or wanted him gone. Beilein has been a fabulous coach at Michigan from the beginning. You and most of the others are great Michigan supporters, but you've been wrong about our coach, and your half-assed retractions and underhanded compliments do not wipe any of that away as far as I'm concerned.

Not every game goes according to the Vegas point spreads. Blowouts have always been a rule and not an exception. I'm not sure that all of the teams mentioned are top teams.

Good call on A&M. The 1985 game at South Carolina also comes to mind.

11/04/2017 - 11:29am Respect

Most fans of Oklahoma, Washington, Iowa and Oregon respect their in-state rival. Michigan fans should do the same instead of perpetuating one of the stupidest things ever said by a Michigan football player after a game.

11/01/2017 - 1:03am I care if Michigan is unranked

But your point is well-taken. I didn't remember who was ranked #19 last year. I had to look it up to learn that it was Virginia Tech. I also didn't remember who was ranked #4 last year.

11/01/2017 - 12:08am Here are some other items of

Here are some other items of note.

Florida State and Utah are absent from the CFP poll for the first time. Only three teams have been ranked in every CFP poll -- Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State.

Miami (YTM), Iowa State, Central Florida, NC State and Arizona are in the CFP Poll for the first time.

Jud Heathcote was an absolute class act and a tremendous coach. He was a great man who deserved all of the praise heaped upon him by Tom Izzo in that linked article. It's sad to see him go. May God rest his soul.

Yeah but if it comes down to Michigan and Kansas, I’m sure Beilein can tell Mohamed Bamba about that time in January 1985 when Kansas visited Michigan and got blown away 96-77. In fact, he can tell him that Kansas has never beat Michigan in basketball.

12/20/2016 - 12:57am It is unfortunate that you

It is unfortunate that you and others feel that way.

In my opinion a small NCAA Tournament -- let's say 16 teams (of 351), which is closer but not quite the equivalient of a 4-team (of 128) CFP -- would also take the suspense of the college basketball season away for a lot more fans earlier in the season.

Again, that's just how I feel. I'd like to hear how it would make things better and fill those seats for the early games against the likes of Kennesaw State.

12/20/2016 - 12:42am College football is the sport

College football is the sport that...

Rewards a team that schedules Rutgers, Idaho and Portland State.

Features unbalanced schedules that leads to conference championships which often fail to include championship caliber teams.

Is more concerned about conference championsip and bowl game sponsorships than creating a true championshp system where participants are determined on the field.

Relies on a committee influenced by polls and pundits to select its four playoff teams.

Makes sense to me.

12/07/2016 - 11:32am This is a good assessment. I

This is a good assessment. I also thought the team was tentative against Texas, throwing passes away and settling for jump shots when it should take the ball to the hoop. I saw a team that is either not very good or simply not gelling together yet. The recipe for beating that Texas team is to take it to the basket and draw fouls with the occasional kick to the outside for a jumper. Indeed, some future NBA talent would help.

12/06/2016 - 1:50am Here's a fact

The Stanford team from 2014 was worse. That team still made a bowl game — the memorable Foster Farms bowl in nearby Santa Clara, where it beat Maryland 45-21. If that didn’t already ruin CFB for you, nothing will.

12/03/2016 - 8:43am I hope your clairvoyance is

I hope your clairvoyance is legit. If you combine a second year of Speight (plus better backups) with everything you just stated, Michigan should be CFP bound next year.

Mike Kenn certainly deserves to be in the pro football hall of fame, and it's a shame that he is not in yet.

12/01/2016 - 12:01am Yes.

Yes.

11/30/2016 - 1:31am Strange happenings at the bottom

Pitt (8-4) moves into the CFP poll for the first time ever at #25 after beating lowly Syracuse 76-61. The basketball score may have confused the committee. Iowa (8-4) knocks off Nebraska (9-3) and does not crack the poll.

Nebraska (9-3) falls from #16 all the way out of the poll after the road loss. Not the case for Houston (9-3). It only drops four spots to #24 after losing to Memphis. Also not the case for Tennessee (8-4) which lost to Vandy and only dropped five spots to #22.

LSU (7-4) beats unranked Texas A&M and bolts to #21.

Utah (8-4) moved up two spots to #20 after losing to Colorado. Utah has lost three of its last four and was in danger of being unranked for the first time in CFP poll history.

11/25/2016 - 3:51pm This is an interesting

This is an interesting thought, but I actually believe that the chaos some seek will happen, and the winner of the Michigan-Ohio State game will make the playoffs regardless of B1G Championship game outcome.

During the Beilein era or before?

11/23/2016 - 10:37pm Wait. You just posted above

Wait. You just posted above that Michigan has finished in the Top 100 in FG percentage (Top 50 in eFG pct) in six of the last seven seasons, proving that what we saw today was an anomaly and not a sign of systemic problems. What's next? Are going to make a total fool of yourself and complain about Michigan's high rate of turnovers in this game?
