what a...

douche.

no offense but,

i thought the writing was cheesy. some of the content was good, but the rest of it was boring blather.

i'm already peeved

he was reared to be a quarterback. he spent his entire life preparing for this moment...starting quarterback for university of michigan as a true freshman. he got rocket ship hype after incredible comeback against notre dame. gets his snap shot on front cover of sports illustrated. and the ridiculously premature espn analysis of 'who's the better freshman quarterback barkley or this comeback kid forcier?' the kid's future looked gotta wear shades bright.

then he got dinged up. team started losing. he lost something on his fastball, lost some confidence; mental decisions became deliberations and his whole game slow downed. was on the bench watching denard take final drive of iowa game. his mojo vanished. the horror of the collapse of a season.

those are some polar extremes. how a kid reacts to something like that bears a reflection of his fortitude. i was hoping (expecting) that he was going to be focused. study film. exercise and strengthen his shoulder, bond with teammates, mentally prepare for redemption and a break out sophmore campaign.

instead...he seems to have fattened up over the winter. perhaps enjoyed his freshman laurels. i dunno...but by the time the spring game came around he was playing with the 2s. rather than working harder and embracing the challenge, he seems to have lost his competitive fire. he missed some voluntary summer workouts. a senior leader for the team called him out in an interview with the press...and coach not so subtlely nods in agreement. the no wings on his helmet during practice is another not so subtle reminder that he either needs to get his shit together or he's going to be third on the depth chart and yet another forcier might be transferring from the program. unable to cut it.

i hope the years of training, dedication, and dreaming ignite his competitve spirit, and he battles back, sucks it up, and contributes any way he can this season. kid needs to hang out with moundros more and learn how to be a man, team mate and then a player.

c'mon tate, i'm rooting for you....get yer head outta yer ass.

cazzie russell = humble, geniune guy

i've met cazzie a few times about seven or so years ago. played golf with him on a wednesday night blitz at bacon park gc in savannah. didnt know who he was until someone in our foursome told me. he was very friendly, unassuming, and genuinely nice guy. i also played pick up basketball with him at the ymca.

+1 for the good guys.

dont pull the shades...

its too obvious. just re-deadbolt the door, cut the lights and lets hang out in the bathroom for awhile...

now that we've cleared up the legality issue...

whats say we start an ethical divide. is it kosher to add link to your website like this?  i clicked on link lookin for story on ricardo, but it was direct link to main webpage. i enjoy this kid's ambition and some of his content, but doesn't the lower weblink suffice?

dunno...

who's right in this legal conundrum...be he said ergo...so i'm goin with this guy.

the jeff blauser bit

was fkn hilarious.

+1

i was thinkin the same thing.

umm...

offense to the OP, but he does sound delusionally stupid. mogoblowdiehardfans can make us look foolish too.

been awhile

since a ridiculous post received so many comments.

that headline

is hilarious. thanks for the laugh.

naw...

that's joHn voight's car.......+1 for seinfeldism.

it's disappointing

that he didnt score a goal. i watched their group stage games, and he played like one of the best players in the world. the title "best player" in the world is subjective and temporary. he had a lot of shots on goal, but not really many good scoring chances. longer-type shots. i think the asset that puts him the small group of "best players" in the world, is his foot work; the dribbling ability to break down defenses and set up scoring chances for his teammates. his passing is phenomenal, the touch he gets on the ball to fit it into gaps is fun to watch. most top players can finish a play, but the ability to set up that play takes more talent in most circumstances. i remember watching his as a sub in last world cup and was looking forward to his play in this world cup. its disappointing that he didnt score a goal, but i never felt disappointed while watching him.

silver lining...

i was pulling for argentina, and am disappointed in their effort today. they never looked like they were in the game as a team; disoriented- not marking, porous defense, mental lethargy in general. the header at 3' set the tone. germany played a great game with stout defense, touch possession, good runs and brilliant plays, but as important was that looked like a team. i mean who doesn't love to watch messi dance around the pitch with the ball glued to his foot? but i also love to watch teams like germany and the netherlands who play possesion, tactics and as a team.

the only silver lining for me was watching maradona's ego and in his $3k melt into reality as germany scored goals 2,3 and 4. he was an incredibly special player in his day, but his arrogance is annoying. to use a german term and mgoblog fav...it feels like schadenfreude.

c'mon....

argentina!

go dutch!

i was born and raised in michigan, and like many people in michigan, i come from dutch lineage on my father's side. they usually field a top tier b team, below the brazils, argentinas, germanys, etc. that usually make up the a-list. they have wonderful possession and are enjoyable to watch imo. they looked very solid in round 1, and first knockout game, but despite lala's prediction (i can't stand lala btw) i gave them a very slim chance of knocking out brazil today, esp after brazil's early goal. i have it on dvd at home (i tried not to sneak peeks to save the suspense) and cant wait to go home and watch it this evening.

here's hoping they can continue their form. they have good shot to make it to world cup finals as they play either uruguay/gana in semis...go oranje!

i like edit alot...dvr, ghana.

and brad bosworth...

err, brian bosworth...was going to redefine the LB position...roids to riches to rags story.

sign that kid up...

check out the awareness...the zig, then zag sidestep...avoids the tackle with balance...the missed-me-biotch glare...then the nonchalant strut to the endzone.

and gotta love the adidas sweatsuit.

thanks for the light-hearted laugh this morning.

agree

the big ten sets the standard for class. i wouldnt trade any team for notre dame.

fkn thugs...

dude had warrant for something petty....took two lives...two husbands...two fathers. what a piece of shit.

flying under the radar?

magnus,

what big schools have offered him scholarships? is he flying under the radar or just not a big time recruit?

curious...

why the keanu reeves pic???

ouch...

irregardless hurts.

but he closed...

like tiger's back nine on saturday. cheers Fed, wimbledon definitely more enjoyable to watch with you in the draw.

yeah...i've been following his top 25

and the closer he gets to top 10, the less likely there will be a wolverine on the list. not sure how many years he's been doing this...but safe bet that there hasn't been top 25 list without a wolverine on it. i hope it gives incentive to the uofm players to bust out individually and as a team...can you imagine not having a player on the list and then finishing top 3 in big ten...would be credit to coaching staff for sure.

Fed's goin down...

he's lookin like Tiger on front nine yesterday...

are people drunk...

from this morning's soccer US soccer match?

quite a few less-than-intelligent posts today.

semi-agree

i like it when smyth calls the action...i think he has both humor and insightful analysis, i never thought of him as a know nothing.

lalas sounded 'over the top' with his comments about how pathetic greece looked.

not so fast...

ND's record against all BigTen schools in the past five years isn't that impressive. Easier path, relatively speaking, yes...but still a difficult path considering recent history.

is this officially official...

or scary quotes "officially official"?

no deja vu pls......

we started well last season.......

usc>ncaa

i watched kiffin's response on espn and he basically dismissed the penalties. usc is more powerful than the ncaa. i also listened to herbstreit's take on bush and the heisman....pti guys were saying that he earned it on the field and didn't think they should strip him of heisman.....but herbsteit's analysis changed my view- how would you feel if you were a teammate on the 04/05 team, did everything by the book, won a national championship, and now it's stripped away because a guy on the team was selfish and greedy. yeah.......i think bush should lose heisman.

i guess the question is......

should usc appeal the ncaa penalties?

if were usc, i don't believe i would. the ncaa did a thorough (and damn lengthly) investigation so an appeal likely wouldn't significantly reduce the penalties. and most importantly it would be a dark cloud hanging over their head during the appeal. i'd rather accept the penalties immediately so it would diminish its effects on this year's and next year's recruiting...with likely redshirts, they would only miss one postseason. even though the lose thirty scholarships, its not as severe as it would be for other schools considering they have four-star recruits on the bench. they will still get four- and five-star recruits on the field.

Demar...

we'll miss you. many threads about you have sustained mgoblog the past few months. good thing we have izzo to cavs, usc sanctions, conference expansion and world cup to keep us occupied for the next month.

chin up...wrists uncuffed.

unfortunately...

there weren't many teams that we beat the past two years.....

i think we owe thanks to big 12

for putting deadlines on their conference teams. that's what accelerated expansion from drafting table to signing table.
