We’ve been spotted

05/17/2018 - 10:56am AD

The Michigan athletic department needs to be more aggressive in looking out for our own interests. See the SEC conference commissioner and how he goes about his business.

Hang a banner for the basketball team that went undefeated against eligible teams in the 2013 tournament and go full UCF

Refuse to play consecutive road games against MSU and the domers(too late for this one).

Donate enough money to Purdue to have naming rights to the Purdue visiting locker room and then host an auction amongst the season ticket holders for the rights to name it.

05/09/2018 - 11:34am Genius move by the Browns

They’ll probably win a game this year because of it. Maybe two. Poor Peppers. At least he’s rich.

05/09/2018 - 8:56am Alonzomourning.gif

Couldn’t comprehend how that would be the deal breaker for individuals but forgot about the corporate angle

05/08/2018 - 11:25am 20 years

This is my 20th year as a soccer ref. Prefer 9 years old or younger or 16-18 year olds. Avoid the men’s leagues. Pregame is crucial and sets the tone for the whole night. It’s tough to beat the pay if you can handle some inevitable drama.

04/30/2018 - 4:55pm Stars

I don’t care about stars when it comes to OL. Just regularly take a lot of them and let them develop under a quality coach for a few years.

04/19/2018 - 2:59pm Downvotes

So 17+ people still drinking the kool aid? It’s the same thing year after year. Unrealistic coach speak about a player or team gets everyone super excited, believing THIS IS THE YEAR. Win about 75% of the games if we’re lucky. Cosmiterate about that one play or one call that would have changed the season. Foam at the mouth about new coach speak and this up and coming player who is like [first round draft pick] except bigger, faster, and stronger....rinse and repeat...

I’m at the point in my fandom where I force myself to expect 8-4 and refuse to believe the hype so that I’m numb to the annual oct / nov soul dong punch. If you’re not there yet, I’m not sure whether to admire or pity you.

04/19/2018 - 1:17pm Dwumfour

Dwumfour is the new Mone. All-world hype team. Production doesn’t come close to expectations.

04/18/2018 - 4:37pm Just coach football

The last bit about the program in general and the refocus was by far the most encouring part of the preview. I hope it’s true.

04/12/2018 - 10:05am Purdue medical services strike again

Different kind of broken back experience than speight I know, but you’d think they’d at least take care of their own players

04/05/2018 - 9:46am Harbaugh

Harbaugh has some saying that I think I’ve seen on a poster near the locker room: “the hurt player, the ineligible player, and the unwilling player are all the same.” It’s something to the effect if you’re hurt I can’t use you. I don’t understand how it’s meant to inspire. Never met an athlete who wanted to be hurt.

04/04/2018 - 10:38am Yep

Moe’s Hello post lists him as 6’ 9” and projected him as a 4...

04/04/2018 - 10:35am Growth

Didn’t moe grow a few inches after his commitment?

04/04/2018 - 10:27am Miles Bridges

Except when they made a decision in 24 hours so bridges could keep playing. I wish they would let Patterson pay $40 and be done with all the non sense.

03/16/2018 - 12:26am Late

Can I stop drinking and go to bed yet?

03/07/2018 - 9:34am Report

“Verb 1. Give a spoken or written account of something that one has observed, heard, done, or INVESTIGATED.”

I’d put this up against anything that came out of a Medill alum yesterday.

03/06/2018 - 4:56pm Actual reporting

You should have used that tag here, Ace. Great piece.

03/05/2018 - 4:03pm Article

I truly truly truly do not mean this as a back handed compliment. Seems like about once a quarter Brian rolls out an absolute gem of an article. This was it IMO.

03/05/2018 - 10:36am Agree the media loves izzo

But in the past MSU has played a much harder non con schedule, and played well in feb and March. Hollis also no longer on the committee.

03/02/2018 - 4:40pm Kenpom

Id like to thank Tim miles for bringing the kenpom curse upon his team and sealing this win.

02/28/2018 - 10:02pm Best news I heard all night

Nebraska will finish the season with a loss on Friday and a loss in the tourney. The Kenpom curse is real.

02/15/2018 - 11:59pm Yes Brian

Please resume your sop and tell us things are better than they are. That we will be good someday. And explain all our losses away,

02/12/2018 - 4:54pm Hmmm

Midwestern school hires young high profile former star quarterback with lots of personality as head coach hoping for a return to the glory days of the 90’s and fan base goes crazy with unrealistic expectations. Where have we seen this before?

02/09/2018 - 12:06am Won’t matter

Doesn’t matter if they can play when they have no time to throw or get injured by week 4

02/09/2018 - 12:04am 3 years too late

It’ll be 2021 before those kids see the field.

02/07/2018 - 3:51pm Ol vs skill

If Harbaugh continues to bring in twice as many skill position players as offensive linemen, the offense will keep sputtering. Ask Barry Sanders.

01/24/2018 - 3:38pm Do something edgy for us, just once

Screw being the good guy worrying about perception. Invite the squad back, give them rings, and hang a freaking banner at the home opener next year. Other schools fiercely take what they can get and are ruthless for their own interests. Our turn.

01/24/2018 - 9:48am But the wrong depth...

Harbaugh has now brought in:14 OL, 21 WR's / RB's, 8 TE / FB's, and 17 DB's in his four classes.

If you take out his first class that was mostly put together by Hoke, it's 12 OL, 18 WR / RB, 7 TE / FB's, and 14 DB's.

If you lump TE's and FBs in with RB's and WR's its more than a 1 OL : 2 skill position ratio on offense (not counting QB's). OL just seems underrecruited since you will always have 5 of them on the field.

01/21/2018 - 9:54pm Hopefully

I hope it's not Brandon Watson's scholarship...

01/21/2018 - 9:52pm Agree

Some stats:

Harbaugh has brought in:14 OL, 20 WR's / RB's, 8 TE / FB's, and 16 DB's in his four classes.  If you take out the first year it's 12 OL, 17 WR / RB, 7 TE / FB's, and 13 DB's.  If you lump TE's and FBs in with RB's and WR's its almost a 1 OL : 2 skill position ratio on offense (not counting QB's).  OL just seems underrecruited since you will always have 5 of them on the field.

12/20/2017 - 1:49pm Media

It’s just media personnel doing what they need to do to get those sweet Michigan and MSU clicks...

09/12/2017 - 5:44pm Ole skillet hands

He didn't pan out...

06/09/2017 - 7:23pm Tug of war

I wish they would have added tug of war instead

05/12/2017 - 12:10am Similar...

Went to an out-of-state private school for undergrad and was offered a full scholarship to MSU College of Law that I could not turn down.  I got season tickets to MSU while I was there and still have them because 50 yard line seats for law students and alumni are ridiculously cheap.  I only go to the Michigan games and wear my Tom Brady jersey every time.

I grew up rooting for Michigan and never felt the slightest temptation to switch allegiances in law school even though I had every reason to do so (my law school stint aligned with Rich Rod's tenure).  Every time I tell a Sparty their head does in fact explode.  Brian's piece a while back explaining why MSU fans don't get it was spot on.

04/06/2017 - 5:29pm Peppers video

Brian, do you really expect me to bring this video out next time I'm with my osu-loving in-law's? How do you really see that conversation playing out? "F Michigan. We've won 11 out of the last 12." But peppers is good. "But we won the game." "but peppers is a first round pick." The fact that he is so good and M had a ton of NFL talent makes me feel worse, not better. Dressing up a loss is something MSU does. Remember the losing with dignity headline?

04/01/2017 - 11:16pm Ncaa

‪Which of these things demonstrates the ncaa's incompetence more: 1) that unc is playing in this game, or 2) that tv teddy is officiating it?‬

04/01/2017 - 12:05pm Losing with dignity

Truly it was a dignified loss

03/13/2017 - 7:53pm Thread hijack...

Who had the better season, basketball or football?

03/13/2017 - 7:52pm Sad

I honestly feel sorry for you.

01/12/2017 - 4:29pm ???

Didn't they beat osu and win the b1g? When's the last time Michigan did that?

01/10/2017 - 5:02pm Ad hominem

You went to the personal attacks pretty quick. Did you even read what I wrote or just glance at the numbers and then go into keyboard warrior mode? I'm thrilled peppers will be able to cash in on his talent this spring. I feel awful for jake butt. He is exhibit a on why you should skip your senior year. But can we stop pretending the last year was a success and everything is great? The team came close but ultimately fell short this year. My point was, I think it took jabrill so long to make this decision because the team fell short of its goals. It's too bad for him and everyone else that his legacy isn't what everyone hoped it would be. That's sports I guess. Hopefully the next decade is better than the last one.

01/10/2017 - 4:26pm Correction

You're right. This legacy looks a lot better and is something everyone feels good about:
1-1 vs MSU
0-2 vs OSU
0 division titles
0 Big Ten Championships
0 postseason appearances

01/10/2017 - 4:12pm Unending

It's not going to get any better. He'll die without being able to say he beat osu.

01/10/2017 - 4:10pm Dream

Really? Which ones do you remember him playing in?

01/10/2017 - 3:49pm Legacy

So happy for him. He deserves every dollar he earns at the next level. I hope he lands on a good team that utilizes all of his many talents. It will be fun to watch him.

Interesting that he mentioned his legacy. He will no doubt remember his time at Michigan with a bitter sweet taste in his mouth. He is one of the most talented and classy men to ever play for Michigan. He deserves all the individual awards he received. But his accomplishments truly fall short of what he and everyone else hoped for. I bet that's why the decision was so hard for him.
1-2 vs MSU
0-3 vs OSU
0 division titles
0 Big Ten championships
0 postseason appearances

01/07/2017 - 12:05am Troll

This kid has gone from an all business no non sense type to the ultimate troll in 4 days.

01/05/2017 - 4:51pm Bagmen

He is probably feigning interest in Michigan at this point to get max dollar from the bagmen.

01/01/2017 - 3:35pm Refs

That would include never blaming the refs, right?

12/31/2016 - 12:50am Elite?

Really curious what your definition of elite is. Mine is beating osu and winning the b1g championship.

12/31/2016 - 12:39am Success?

Success is accomplishing what you set out to do. I promise you no one on that team set out to win 10 games and beat msu. You can't lose to Ohio state, fail to win the conference, fail to make the playoff, lose the bowl game and say this season was a success.
