I think the distinction that the OP was trying to make was between what Michigan did prior to the BCS and what Michigan during the BCS. Not necessarily early Lloyd years vs later Lloyd years.
Maybe I should have said recent bowl track record. But lets not give them to much credit for beating ND and K State in the Fiesta Bowl. Also, did they really win the 2002 BCS championship, or did the refs fix that game for them with the phantom pass interference call.
Big Ten teams were favored in exactly one bowl game this year and that was the Iowa game. That will be the only bowl win we get this year unless tosu can pull off an upset - which is doubtful given their bowl track record.
Ferentz may be a good collegiate coach and an even better person, but does that make him ready to be a head coach in the NFL? Especially in Cleveland, where coaching careers go to die. Butch Davis had a ton of success while at Miami but he couldn't pull it off with the Browns. Even Nick Saban, who is a great college coach, didn't have to much success in the pros. Call me crazy, but I do not think the moderate success he has had at Iowa will transfer to the NFL.

I agree with the OP. And, after bragging that Hoke took the job without even knowing what it paid, he dodged the question regarding Hoke's salary.
