Can someone elaborate on 'highest bidding' city?

What happens if Anchorage, AK pools some money together and gets the national title game? I'm assuming there are some limitations on location. If not, we can all start donating for Ann Arbor 2020.

Does anyone think the playcalling had to do with our apparent backup being Kennedy? It seemed like denard never kept it after those first few drives and never had direct runs which allowed for Msu to gear towards the rbs. In his
Defense denard made some great throws at times but the difference in degree of difficulty from the td pass (when he was running) to the deep balls (when he wasnt running) was huge. It seemed like some of it predicated on keeping him healthy first and foremost so that we didn't have to find out how well jk could take a snap against an sec team.

This is not a sport, it's a hobby.
I'm sorry I'm not sorry.

It looks like we're playing

It looks like we're playing on the road. They're turning the ball over, freaking out, throwing up terrible shots, and just overall panicking. I understand this is a good Purdue team, but jesus, can we at least play like we're expecting to score a point or four?

They do a training trip every winter break. This year its the PR.

In my experience it's always

In my experience it's always helped. Sports as a whole give you something to talk about and give the interviewer a comfortable feeling with you as a person which is probably the most important aspect of an interview. Most people are very qualified, what seperates them is whether or not the would be good to work with.

I've seen some people respond to a good natured Michigan ribbing in a bad way, getting very defensive and upset. The key is to handle it and smile at the end.

Not all of the U of M

Not all of the U of M swimmers are at Nationals. They're not rested and it's 'just a meet.' I know to a non-swimmer seeing "US NATIONALS" implies that it's the biggest meet of the year but that isn't the case. Take a look at NCAA's and judge them off of that.

That being said, OSU does have a much improved team over the past couple of years. Michigan still has better head to head top end talent, however OSU has developed depth that a very young Michigan team doesn' t have yet, which is why OSU was able to beat Michigan at Big 10's last year but not in the head to head dual meet or NCAA's. Bottom is building a very good team, and this team would be great if Tyler Clary hadn't gone pro, but it is still one of the best in the nation. (This sound a lot like U of M football in hindsight)

However, one knock against Bottom is that he is a HUGE proponent of the '1 year scholarship,' with swimmers not having their scholarships renewed if they don't perform to the expected level. It goes unnoticed because it's a 'non-major' sport but it definitely happens and has caused a few issues so far in his tenure. It is very accurate to say that Bottom is a 'win an NCAA championship at any cost' coach. He stays within the official rules but some people view him as a snake because of the scholarship situation, among a few other small things. You can just took a look at his last two recruiting classes which have each individually accounted for over half of the swim team's members.

The one I'm looking for was

The one I'm looking for was video clips not pictures, and ended with the "helloooo heisman" call

I know that's the speech, I

I know that's the speech, I was looking for the video that was themed to Michigan beating Ohio State that came out last year before the game.

If they call BJ Daniels a

If they call BJ Daniels a true sophmore one more time I'm going to flip out. I remember him being the QB who tried to get a car out of us when we were recruiting him and as a result we were forced to take a flier on Feagin. Regardless, that would make this his THIRD year, which his profile on the USF website states despite also listing him as a Sophmore (No RS). How can ESPN be so ignorant about the "star player" of this USF team? Sorry, rant over.

I know a few people in the

I know a few people in the Athletic Department and they all said he was informed by DB that he would be retiring. He had taken on a lesser role in recent years but he still wanted to be coaching.

Can't really tell because of the poor lighting but people were throwing beer everywhere, it was quite literally raining beer. Amazing.

It's always has been for as

It's always has been for as long as I can remember. They host a lot of the big swim meets. When you're a not a high profile sport you take it anywhere you can get it. That being said, it's not the BP Nationals so moot point.

It's Australian Rules

It's Australian Rules Football. It's the same league that produced a punter for the Jets (I forget his name). It's actually a lot more exciting than Rugby, at least in my opinion, and when I was in Australia it's all we played. Unfortunately I was playing with a few members of the Pitt football team, including a Tight End (try tackling him) and a punter (could make a kick from anywhere).

Basically the way it works is you run around trying to kick it through the posts. The middle posts are worth six, the outer posts are worth one. The goofy guys that stand behind the posts give a little pistol shooting motion with their fingers when you score. The only ways you can pass are via a punch of the ball or via a kick. If you pass it via a punch you're fair game and anyone can tackle you, but if you catch it cleanly off of a kick pass (without it hitting the ground) you get a free kick and can back away from that position and step up and kick it without being attacked (much like a free kick in soccer). Now, just because you do catch it off of a kick doesn't mean that you have to take the free kick, for example if you're on a break you can keep running like it was a regular pass. If you do run at any time after getting the ball you're allowed five steps without dribbling (its more of a time thing not a steps thing0 before you have to take a dribble which is extremely hard standing still, and even harder while running full speed. After every one point score, the team that was scored on takes the ball in from their end, however for every six pointer there is a "face off" from the middle of the field which is the ref bouncing the ball nice and high into the air.

It's actually a shit ton of fun to watch if you're there and slightly drunk, and to play if you're down to wake up sore the next morning.

Yeah I'm on record as saying

Yeah I'm on record as saying they'll have new ownership by this time next year. There was so much excitement for it and within a week it was empty. If they had built up a following with these specials for the remainder of last semester they wouldn't have the problems they have now. $10 pitchers just don't fly with college students. Neither does shitty service.

Supposedly Packard Pub has been renovating their downstairs for the World Cup. It's a pretty good place to watch the games with tons of TV's there. I'm not sure what their hours will be during the world cup but currently they're only open nights. They do have $3 pitchers now and 1/2 off all appetizers as they attempt to gain some popularity.

Thanks for the help, I forgot Thanks for the help, I forgot about the details of Iowa so thanks for setting me straight, I've removed the note. As for the Minnesota/Indiana rivalry I agree, Indiana is starting to go down a little bit but overall I think everyone gets a little more fired up over Indiana (at least on the Men's side). On that note, Indiana may start to go down the tube slightly, a couple of their swimmers were caught by the police allegedly doing drugs with some of the recruits (I used to swim with and know a kid on the team who was involved). As a result they find themselves in a little trouble so it'll be interesting to see how that turns out. Thanks again for the help, I appreciate your input!
Yup, that's Madwed and Clary. Yup, that's Madwed and Clary. I just finished up a long long post for next week on the coaches that have made the program so successful, so now I'm starting to work on a piece on the current team. I'm going to look into the schedules but mgoblue hasn't officially released anything yet, but the season usually starts in October. Thanks for the help!
I totally agree with you, it I totally agree with you, it is a very under-appreciated aspect. However, I don't really have too much knowledge on diving in general, hopefully when I get a little access I'll be able to speak to the divers and get their take and hear their stories.
Yeah, I'm around the pool a Yeah, I'm around the pool a lot so I know a bit about the women's water polo team, but I don't know as much about the Men's team. If anyone from the Men's Water Polo team wants to give me any info or write small updates to put in my posts just email Brian and he'll get you my contact info. As of right now, I'm still on a probationary period, at least in terms of full fledged support among the athletic department. Brian has told me that after I compile a few posts he'll bring them to the right people and then hopefully get me a little more access than I have created for myself. Hopefully this continues to move in a positive direction and then I'd be more than happy to cover all aquatics. Again, if anyone with interest wants to help out just let me know.
I'm pretty sure we're looking I'm pretty sure we're looking ahead to our New Years day bowl game.

Novak can dunk! He said so Novak can dunk! He said so himself! Who cares if he's 0/1 on the season.
When they give the stuff out When they give the stuff out for free, it's usually not the department doing it. A company usually buys a shit ton and then gives them away for free all the while saying "isn't Dominoes pizza awesome!?" In that case money would still have been raised for charity.

I once had the pleasure of I once had the pleasure of watching Brent Petway "free-style" if you can call it that. It was terrible.
My sentiments exactly. I My sentiments exactly. I don't know if you know who Kenny Britt is, but he played WR for Rutgers got drafted by the Titans in the 1st. Well I was on a flight with him (about 20 people) and he was trying to talk on his cell phone while we were taking off. The attendant said shut it off and he said "don't you know who I am?" I'm glad Jake wasn't like that. One of my favorite players of all time.
This is a strange sequence of This is a strange sequence of events to do with Jake Long: Me and one of my friends were heading to Backroom after a fun night out our freshman year after watching the Notre Dame game(the 2006 season). When there we came upon 3 huge guys each with a pizza in hand and immediately struck up a conversation with them. My friend knew his shit and despite us being in school a few weeks, told me that he thought it was Jake Long. I wasn't sure but as he and his friends turned around to leave he saw his tattoos and we called out a very freshman-like "You're Jake Long!" He turned around and laughed and said no no no I'm just a tennis player and then Adam Kraus, who was with him, went off on a tangent about how he was a tennis player from NY (his Louisiana accent kind of sounded New Yorkish). We all had a good laugh and then talked to them for a while about the Notre Dame game telling them how great it was to watch and asking them questions (my friend asking about the zone blocking scheme.. only an MGoBlogger..). The whole exchange lasted around 45 minutes, the entirety of which they seemed to enjoy talking to us. We said our goodbyes and that was that. Until a couple weeks later we saw a guy lift someone up and begin shoulder pressing him on the corner where Magic Gate is. We were walking in that direction (had to get the bus back up to Bursley) and noticed that it was Jake doing the lifting. We couldn't believe our luck at seeing him again and were even more astounded that he recognized us as we gaped at him shoulder pressing a human. He said something along the lines of "hey I remember you guys!" and talked to us for a minute before we ran to catch the bus. During the freshman season we painted our bodies and painted numbers on us, and after these chance encounters I had been painting 77 on my back. Later in the season, I forget which game, I had been separated from my friends in the concourse of the stadium and was waiting to meet back up with them for a ticket swap. While waiting an old man and woman came up to me and one of my friends and said "ohh do you know my nephew?" and we were kind of confused. So responding, "who's your nephew?" got us the response "Well, Jake!" Turns out we had stumbled into his Aunt and Uncle who were there for the game (I think it was homecoming). We shared a good laugh and she gave me her thanks for supporting her nephew. Just a really small world, and in hindsight, looking at that year it's crazy to think how it all happened.
