No mention of stock down Nebraska?

On that 3rd and 24 it looks like the WR at the top of the screen was super open.

09/04/2018 - 1:41pm In retrospect, the Jedd…

In retrospect, the Jedd Fisch loss looks like a huge deal.  When he was here, the offense included a good amount of well-timed, intelligent creativity.  New wrinkles each week that felt well thought out and like a product of smart coaching, for the most part.  We had none of that last year and none in the ND game.

Brian's emo stuff is never as good or as interesting as he thinks it is.  Just sayin.

Umm, yes it is

05/23/2018 - 2:58pm Co-signed

Co-signed 100%.  To be honest, if there was another Michigan blog actually worth a damn I likely would have switched over there arleady for reasons along these lines.

02/16/2018 - 10:29am WHY IS BRIAN SO TERRIBLE AT PRONUNCIATION?

If part of your job is to talk, you should learn to pronounce what you are saying.

02/09/2018 - 12:35pm JayBaugh

I also think it's more than fair at this point to direct some of the torch & pitchfork sentiment towards the fact that Jay Harbaugh is on this staff.  A little nepotism can go overlooked when things are going well, but not now.

01/31/2018 - 10:11am Not a "transfer"

Use of the word "transfer" in these circumstances drives me nuts.  He is not transferring.  He is going somewhere else for grad school.

01/05/2018 - 2:44pm Doesn't say OC

I don't think it says anywhere he will be the OC here, does it?  Just describes him as a former Arkansas OC.

01/05/2018 - 11:58am Ira

On the subject of Ira, I find him very difficult to listen to.  If I turn on WTKA and he's doing any sort of extended talking I always switch it off.  It often feels like he is just talking for the sake of talking, and usually about something petty.  I get that filling dead air is part of the job, but he isn't very good at it.

11/24/2017 - 12:54pm He is very probably right

The end.

10/31/2017 - 2:48pm Agreed

Listened to the first few, then unsubscribed.  Listening to Jack Harbaugh tell old stories is an ok shtick for a bit, but it isn't really a sustainable basis for an ongoing, interesting podcast.

09/15/2017 - 11:01pm Agreed 100%

UFR is, far and away, the best thing this blog does.  Drop current somewhat lame offseason content (**cough cough Draftageddon cough cough**) and do this.

09/10/2017 - 9:52am Why does Brian always call Speight a sophomore???

?

07/10/2017 - 8:45pm Agreed

I also dislike the blog's approach of trying to turn "we know our readers hate this but we do it anyway" into some sort of running joke.  That doesn't make it clever.

06/01/2017 - 9:38pm Worth every penny

We got them for the first time last season and they are worth every penny.  They are more comfortable, but above all else they are worth it because they define your space.

04/26/2017 - 1:11pm Aaaaaaaaaannnnnnd Kanell just got canned

Posted on twitter.  Hate to see anybody get laid off, but I can't say I am going to miss this guy on tv/radio.

03/03/2017 - 1:23pm Two points

First, I strongly dislike the term "grad transfer" or any suggestion that guys leaving after four years are considered transfers.  Those kids did not transfer; they went somewhere else for grad school.  Practically everyone who attends grad school does so at a different institution.  This is not news and there is nothing even remotely sketchy about a kid leaving after he got a degree.

Second, Stewart Mandel is a well-documented Michigan/Harbaugh hater.  He has been called out for it on his own podcast with Bruce Feldman, and more or less admitted it (while trying to save face).  It is a shame because I otherwise enjoyed the podcast, but couldn't bear it anymore after several of his uninformed "hot takes" on Michigan/Harbaugh.

Most of it is fluff, but I think the direct quote at the end of the article all but gives it away.

Suffice it to say that the article ends with a quote from Solomon himself that, if you read between the lines, points very strongly in Alabama's direction.  Sounds like a done deal to 'Bama.

Pretty well known that Webb and Wheatley are close. Sooooo, Webb's source likely is Wheatley himself

"Exit" does not seem appropriate for recruits, as they never joined the team in the first place. I suggest reserving "Exit" for current players/coaches and something to the effect of "We Hardly Knew Ye" for recruits.

12/13/2016 - 11:30am Report was that the UM visit

Report was that the UM visit was rescheduled because he took the ACT last weekend. So it was a scheduling conflict rather than an instruction that he can't visit Ann Arbor yet. It's all related, but it's an important distinction.

Totally agree with this.  The argument of "yeah but Rudock got way better the second half of the season" has got to stop.

I was really hoping this was going to be a parody. Cool video but we do not need "beat Rutgers" hype material.

This is a non-story.  Much better off ignoring it than writing a whole post on it.

08/29/2016 - 1:58pm Totally agree

"QB will be fine because Harbaugh" is a security blanket reaction that I just can't get behind.

I expect the QB play to cost Michigan 1-2 games this year.  We're not exactly choosing between two blue chippers, and I don't see how this team gets through that schedule unscathed without high quality QB play.  "Because Harbaugh" probably does mean that we will have decent QB play from one of these two players (or both).  But you don't beat all of MSU, OSU, and Iowa on the road without something better than that.  At some point this year they are going to need the QB to pull one out of a hat and win the game.  I'm not seeing it.  And one throw against Minnesota does not mean it will all be ok, particularly where that one throw came in the wake of several very ugly throws.

Offering document is on the MSRB website.  It was 4.8%.

08/25/2016 - 2:53pm Harbaugh spoke at an event

Harbaugh spoke at an event today and said it will be Newsome.  He also talked a fair bit about how much he loves Evans.  He gave himself a "tip of the cap" because he is the one, as opposed to the other coaches, who identified Evans as "the guy" during the recruiting process.  He also listed the "top 3" freshmen as, in no order, Evans, Gary, and Bush Jr.

08/25/2016 - 1:30pm Bredeson

You can put the Bredeson as the starter thing to bed.  Straight from the horse's mouth today: Newsome is going to get the start.

06/23/2016 - 2:43pm Raiders

Wasn't there a period when Harbaugh was a QB coach for the Raiders?

06/21/2016 - 2:51pm Agreed

Instead of being tongue-and-cheek about the fact that these are a terrible read, maybe stop doing them and come up with something different?

That place was called Ann Arbor Sports Memorabilia shop. The website is still up and it has the owner's phone number listed. He is still in business; just no storefront anymore.

11/06/2015 - 3:00pm Something doesn't add up there

If the score is only 29-7, no way they're putting in the backup QB for the fourth quarter.

20-7 Michigan

05/13/2015 - 1:27pm Not a PR Crisis

In no way is this the "first real PR crisis of the Harbaugh administration."

A kid is having trouble with his academics.  The school and the team have said nothing, because they can't.

Where is the crisis?

Sports writers, including this here blog, reported some information that was incorrect.  This happened because a high school football coach turned out to be an unreliable source with a dog in the fight.  This all happened during a slow news period.

That is all.

03/27/2015 - 2:24pm MAAR

"MAAR" is terrible.  Especially when said out loud.

The team calls him Rahk.  Call him that.  Or just Rahkman.

03/23/2015 - 5:15pm Not sad to see them go

I'm not sad to see them go.  But let's not act like they were some sort of abhorrent brainchild of an evil money grubber designed to Destroy Tradition.

It was a thing they tried because they thought it would be neat.  It sort of was, but not enough to stick long term.  It is gone now and the only effect was on what number a couple of players wore on their shirts.  End.

01/30/2015 - 2:37pm Is this really a "transfer"?

These guys aren't really transferring, are they?  Aren't they just going to grad school somewhere else (like most people who go to grad school)?

01/20/2015 - 5:25pm This

Yes.  This is the correct interpretation.

12/30/2014 - 8:52pm UM win x 2, OSU loss, MSU loss...

11/29/2014 - 7:00am I see this a lot on here

I see this a lot on here ("going to walk into a great spot") and I don't get it. We have seen no evidence that there is a viable QB on this roster.

10/04/2014 - 12:48pm Most of those things simply

Most of those things simply don't bother me, or at least not very much. I will agree with two points: 1) the crisis management has been poor in two instances and 2) he did make a very bad coaching hire. Both can and should be addressed.

I don't love the guy, either. But I'm not going to pretend like water bottles and seat cushions and noodles are truly issues are worth getting worked up about, or firing anybody over. And calling a list of petty complaints a "pattern" or suggesting that they are indicative of some deeper bad intentions just doesn't fly in my mind. A list of petty complaints is just that.
