Conspiracy theory: Bluey is actually Brian. Website traffic is down so he's created an alter ego to say things to piss people off, driving more clicks and views on these posts when people come to argue with him and call him an asshole.

I got the joke now... It was early.
I just think our current impression of Rutgers and how bad they've been since joining the B10 is influencing our opinions. Indiana has the lowest all time win % of any P5 team, followed by Northwestern.
I think Northwestern is an incredibly hard place to build a program, but we don't see it that way because of how good of a job Pat Fitzgerald has done.
|06/22/2018 - 8:10am||Rutgers has some history, is…||
Rutgers has some history, is in a good recruiting footprint, and Rutgers was tied for 9th in the B10 standings last season.
Also, you really aren't sure how to spell Rutgers...?

If we were in different conferences yes. Being in the same conference and playing each other the last game of the season, they'll take the head-to-head winner or if someone goes on to the win B10 Championship.

Almost 700, and about 18% of us... Still could be valuable, but I'm guessing their participation is starting to diminish now that they are tied for being the weakest team in the game.

How does the Overall Star Rating work?
I am a 1-1-1-3-5 for the categories, which would average to 2.2, but am still a 1-star overall.
|06/18/2018 - 10:34am||Agreed, when alliances were…||
Agreed, when alliances were formed we should've made some sort of minimum stars/users agreement. If you fall below that we are allowed to attack you. Having 1 territory, I doubt many of their users are good about playing daily now. They are essentially hurting us because they have a valuable territory in our area that we cannot help defend.
|06/18/2018 - 10:28am||I mean, OSU and Alabama do…||
I mean, OSU and Alabama do have an scheduling advantage, but it's that they don't have to play the highest ranked team in their conference (themselves).
If your either of those teams, I personally don't see a difference if you schedule a Rutgers/Illinois/Kansas level opponent or and FCS team... Both games are going to be a blowout.
|06/15/2018 - 10:24am||It's not that similar to…||
It's not that similar to real risk IMO. You get the number of armies that you have users/stars each day, so there is not penalty for attacking a territory and losing, or benefit to waiting and building your army.

|06/14/2018 - 12:38pm||My reply was actually to Don…||
My reply was actually to Don, and I started writing it before yours was there. He would be a good choice, but would he come to Michigan? Would he leave a weak P5 conference to come coach in the hardest division in college football? To a school that would have had a coach not last more than 4 years since Carr? Who just fired the coach that was seen as being their savior?
If Stephen Ross is willing to pay Saban and Belichick $25 million each to come be co-HC, we should fire Harbaugh today. Personally, I don't think Michigan can do better than a HC that 1/2 of current NFL teams would fire their coach to have. No matter what his record is against rivals.
|06/14/2018 - 12:14pm||You don't just fire someone…||
You don't just fire someone based on wins/losses to spite them. You do it because you think a replacement could do better.
Name 1 person you think would actually come to Michigan and would do better than Harbaugh? I'll wait...

Definitely a motivational tactic, but I could also see it as a way to indirectly tell a scholarship player its time to transfer.
|06/13/2018 - 1:25pm||Might be a good reason to…||
Might be a good reason to try to schedule Rutgers, Illinois, Maryland, in November. Get the double benefit of having them available to help in case of an injury, and still have games they can get in to develop if there aren't injuries.
|06/13/2018 - 12:44pm||Like I said, I think the…||
Like I said, I think the better way would be for them to get posted on the board first, then pinned as a diary. Then I'd be fine with it being elsewhere.
But for example, there was a ton of work put into the 2017 punting diary, and yet its got 5 comments. For the work that guy put in to create that, it should be getting more exposure. A topic about the App being gone that was clearly stated with a reason why in the MGoBlog 3.0 post gets 50+ comments because it's on the board that people check,
|06/13/2018 - 11:56am||I kind of like that because…||
I kind of like that because I think it gives diaries more exposure they deserve. I think a better solution than the current setup though would be to have diaries be posted on the board when they are first posted, and then pinned as a diary.

Maybe this has already been covered in one of the other posts, but doesn't having the orders be on a public site allow other alliances to figure out what we're planning to do?
|06/08/2018 - 9:50am||I think it's clear Patterson…||
I think it's clear Patterson is going to be the starter, but I would bet money that Peters ends up the one who comes in for clean-up duty of if there's an injury. I think people are putting WAY too much emphasis on a bad bowl game after coming back from a concussion. He looked solid when playing leading up to the concussion.
Also, I find it hilarious how quickly people go from a player being our savior to not really caring if he transfers. Although I don't think it'll happen, I'm rooting for Peters to win the starting job for a few reasons:
1) If he does beat out Patterson, it means he is playing better than a relatively known quantity. That means we probably get B+ to A- QBing this year.
2) He doesn't just want to play 1 year and go to the NFL, and doesn't currently have any draft hype. If Peters plays and is the 1st/2nd best QB in the B10, it's likely he'll be back another year to improve.
3) Peters chose Michigan. Patterson chose Ole Miss.

They aren't scheduled in 2019 or 2020, so unless Dylan is still around as a 5th year senior or we meet them in the B10 championship, it's unlikely. Although it would be cool to watch.

I feel like naming something after someone who hasn't retired yet is tacky, but maybe that's just me.
I've never liked the Izzone because of that. Wait until someone finishes their career before you name something after them. Because what if they end up being involved in a sexual assault scandal and disgrace themselves... then you gotta make a public change of whatever you named.

|06/06/2018 - 12:51pm||2 other things I've noticed…||
2 other things I've noticed so far:
1) You can't change your profile anymore (easily). The changeover reset my username and picture to what it was a couple of months ago, so when I did the password reset I was able to change it back with the http://mgoblog.com/user/XXYYZZ/edit link, but I don't think there is a way to do it otherwise.
2) Michigan Bar Locator is under the MGoBoard tab, although this might cause more awareness that it exists and keep people from creating "Where to watch the game in Ethiopia" posts.

This is obviously just a ploy to increase his staff pay when he's coaching the Pistons.
|06/06/2018 - 11:22am||Very interesting analysis…||
Very interesting analysis. Looked up some quick other stats. Looks like the average team punts about 5 times per game, and scores 1 point every 14 yards.
Rough Estimates taking the average of your gross/net numbers:
2016: (5 punts)*(2 teams)*(-3.63 yards)*(1 point / 14 yards) ~ +2.6 pts/game
2017: (5 punts)*(2 teams)*(-1.63 yards)*(1 point / 14 yards) ~ -1.2 pts/game
On average we got 3.8 points per game worse from 2016 due to punts alone... That seems crazy, but I believe it. I think it really emphasizes the hidden benefit Peppers had fair catching everything.

I was thinking GameDay would probably be there, but I don't know what their relationship is with NBC. I know they've done FOX games in the past. Guessing they might go to Auburn/Washington or Alabama/Louisville instead, but neither are on a campus.
|05/29/2018 - 12:16pm||Agree with everything you||
Agree with everything you posted. I also think they're going to overwork Lewerke as a runner because of the RB depth, and there's a strong possibility he gets injured by that point in the season. Especially right after OSU's DL
|05/29/2018 - 11:58am||MSU always seems to play to||
MSU always seems to play to their competition, win or lose. Besides the 3 in-divsion games, Purdue and @ Nebraska will be tough for them.
I'd actually put my money on Nebraska right now. Away game, late in the season so Frost will have his team more familiar with his offense, and MSU has to play OSU the week before while Nebraska gets a tune-up game against Illinois.
|05/29/2018 - 10:51am||2019 is the only year they||
2019 is the only year they don't have a top 20 type opponent on their schedule until 2027 currently. Just wouldn't be the example of a team I'd choose considering they've play Oklahoma the last two years, TCU this year...
And yes, Alabama makes one of their cupcake gaves extra cupcake-y, and moves it to the end of the year. But they also always open against top opponents: USC, FSU, Wisconsin.
|05/29/2018 - 10:30am||Non-conference of Buffalo,||
Non-conference of Buffalo, Ball St, and Arkansas St... Yeah, no thanks.
Also, OSU and Alabama always have strong non-conference games, so not sure why you picked those as your examples... Alabama just trades out a game against a crappy G5 team for an FCS opponent, and puts it in November.
|05/29/2018 - 10:16am||2020?||
Seems too late for it to be happening this year... Wonder if it's a way of having a 3rd game in the series?
With rumors of the Washington series being cancelled, we do need to find a strong non-conference game that season.
|05/22/2018 - 9:04am||From everything I've read,||
From everything I've read, Shea sounds a lot like how I think of McSorley. Mobility and the ability to throw up a good 50/50 ball to WRs. But how many times over the last 2 years have we asked for that? We have good WRs, sometimes you just gotta put in up near them and let them make a play.
If Shea can "put it in a bucket", a 50/50 ball becomes a 75/25 ball, and then hopefully the athleticism of our WRs makes it a 90/10. Although if that becomes a big part of our offense, we should have our WRs practice defending balls too. Great WRs know when to give up on trying for a completion, and focus on avoiding the interception.
