There might be more sources, but if not this is really bad reporting IMO.

This article references the article about Haskins going pro, where he offhandedly mentions Shea going pro. In that article he doesn’t say that’s based on any recent rumors/info, just that he is expected to. Like everyone thought all season until a couple weeks ago when insiders started hearing differently.

idk if he’ll go or not, but he probably should. He has the top QBR of any qb eligible for the draft.

Since rankings don't really matter until the final week... I would love to see the committee send a message and rank Alabama #2 after this week, and then move them back in front of Clemson after they beat Auburn. Send a message that scheduling stupid games at this point in the season could hurt your ranking.

McMurphy may have bad sources, but this comment from 3 months ago from reddit by a former player of his kind of suggests the story is true:

You should not be allowed a 5th year if you haven’t gotten a degree already... Most players now finish is 3 years because they take classes year round.

11/05/2018 - 3:02pm If we're expecting him to…

If we're expecting him to act like a pure pass-pro tackle, it's probably not going to go well. But he made a good choice to hold on Black's TD... The DE would've gotten an easy sack otherwise and we would've lost 6 yards.

1st and 20 > 2nd and 16

Herbstreit is usually one of the best announcers, but he really struggled this game.. He didn't know the rule about being where you start the slide (and if I know it yelling on the couch, he should know it). He also said a block in the back was a bad call on a PSU punt return. It was a bad call, because it should've been targeting...

11/05/2018 - 1:40pm Can and being likely to are…

Can and being likely to are completely different. I think OSU is a really bad matchup for MSU. MSU stops the run, not the pass. OSU this year tries to throw the ball 100 times a game and not run. Unless they get to Haskins a bunch, I don't see this game being close.

FPI gives them a 40% shot, which seems way too high to me.

11/05/2018 - 1:21pm I thought of a hypothetical…

I thought of a hypothetical this weekend, this seems like a good place to discuss....

If you could give MSU any number of points to start out with against OSU, but Rutgers would also get that many against us... How many points would you risk?

I think I'd go 24. Still a safe win for us, and probably an 80-85% chance MSU can pull it off with 24 free points.

11/05/2018 - 12:45pm I've seen similar called…

I've seen similar called before. I'm pretty sure returners are taught not to make any arm motions that could be even remotely mistaken for a fair catch.

The fair catch wave isn't for the refs, its for the players sprinting down the field fighting off blocks. You can't expect them to differentiate between a fair catch wave and pointing downfield. Especially when teams might be trying to replicate the fake fair catch we saw earlier in the year...

I heard the same as you on tv, thought it was funny as hell. “We own Penn State” is even better. Pretty impressed the crowd was able to sync that up to be honest.

Yeah, I kind of think we lucked out with his situation. Seems like he'll be happy finishing his career at UM. Hopefully he gets a well earned raise that pays him at the levels of a mid-P5 head coach.

It should go to the loser of PSU v Wisconsin next week, or whichever coach makes worse decisions.

Why do you think we'd hop ND or Bama? I think in the case you describe:

1) Clemson
2) ND
3) Bama
4) Michigan

Good catch, forgot about Oklahoma...

So then there isn't any precedent for them putting a 1-loss SEC team in over a 1-loss B10 champ.

11/01/2018 - 10:43am I wonder how close the OSU…

I wonder how close the OSU/Bama decision ended up being last year, since the worry is this being the same scenario just with Michigan replacing OSU.

I really don't think it's the same though... OSU's 1 loss was a 31 point rout from an 8-5 Iowa with a losing conference record. Our 1-loss would be a close road loss to an undefeated ND in week 1. I also think that Michigan brings more money to the CFP/ESPN if they make it than Bama going for the Xth time.

edit: Also, it's the first day of November... At least one of Clemson, ND, LSU, & OU will have a bad slip-up.

I'm wondering if it's one of those injuries you can play through until it swells/stiffens up and the adrenaline wears off. He was definitely trying to keep it loose on the sideline (staying on the bike), so I'm wondering how it'll have been during practice this week and will be for our game.

10/30/2018 - 7:21pm I predicted this earlier…

I predicted this earlier today. It makes absolutely no difference if they are 3/4 considering play Bama this week, except that this now gives ESPN something to talk about this week. Will an undefeated ND have a good enough schedule to get in?!?!

Might be a stretch, but I could see Dantonio sitting Lewerke this week to be like “See he was hurt! That’s why we lost to Michigan!”

He will probably try to lose the rest of his games this season so they can claim Michigan still hasn’t beaten a good MSU team.

10/26/2018 - 12:51pm I used to watch every…

I used to watch every PIstons game until about 2007/8 as well. Non-coincidently, that's when the B10 network started and it became reasonable to watch almost every Michigan basketball game.

Last NBA game I went to in person was because my dad had tickets to a suite at the Palace. Agreed to go to the game not knowing it would be on the day Michigan played Kansas in the sweet 16... Luckily they had TVs I could watch the game, with free food and booze. No idea who the Piston's played, never watched a minute of that game lol

According to the calculator, ND losing actually helps us significantly more than any other team losing. We go from 87% to 97% if we win out and they lose a game. OU losing only increases us to 91%.

10/23/2018 - 9:44am I think your point actually…

I think your point actually contradicts itself... If OSU loses to MSU or Nebraska, and UM beats PSU, we will have clinched the B10 East, barring a slip up against Rutgers or IU. Michigan fans will have multiple weeks to plan the trip, and having never been before, I think would travel in masses.

10/23/2018 - 9:38am Who are the "people that…

Who are the "people that count"? The B10? Unless we see suspensions then anything he reports is meaningless.

There is a reason some things need to play out in the press. So Dantonio gets the question "There is video of X trying to hurt Y after a play, do you plan on any discipline as a result?" If Dantonio is not called out by the media for it, it will never change. If the court of public opinion decides that Dantonio and his players are guilty, refs will be aware and looking out for it more next year.

10/23/2018 - 9:11am The right move honestly…

The right move honestly might be to bring in Martell... But benching a Heisman contender will not go well with the fan base if they don't end up winning every game afterwards.

10/22/2018 - 1:29pm I don't understand this…

I don't understand this complaint. I hope they never want to throw 50/50 balls in a game where the other team can't convert a 3rd down... Reduce high variance plays when you are playing a team clearly worse than you.

MSU should be 65 point favorites.

Although we do have to play MSU twice more in hockey in 2018.

So do we just do what our rival fans do..? If we win both of those games, this stat includes hockey. If we don't, obviously hockey doesn't matter and we won all the games in the sports that matter?

Why does it matter? Do you care that some walk-on gets his tuition paid for this season? It doesn't affect the number of recruits they'll sign, they were already expecting him to leave for the draft.

10/16/2018 - 12:11pm Why into the flat and not…

Why into the flat and not downfield? Making the route go into the flat seems to limit the upside of the play. If McKeon turns that route downfield, he is either open for a little lob pass with his momentum going downfield, or the CB runs with him and it opens up the run for Shea.

10/16/2018 - 11:27am MSU rush defense allows 2.34…

MSU rush defense allows 2.34 yrds/rush

UM rush offense gets 5.35 yrds/rush

Average = 3.8 yrds/rush

UM rush defense allows 3.07 yrds/rush

MSU rush offense gets 3.42 yrds/rush

Average = 3.25 yrds/rush

We should expect to have a pretty good advantage in the run game. Not to mention, restricting offenses to running usually means more punting, which we should net 10-15 yards per exchange.
