01/29/2018 - 3:49pm I was reviewing the job board

I was reviewing the job board for the Univ of Michigan (i've applied for a position as a senior consultant and am waiting to hear back) and came across the offensive analyst position. I tried posting a link but you had to be logged into the systme so i thought it would save everyone some aggravation if i just posted it below (especially since it is set to expire tomorrow). I found it interesting that required qualifications include prior experience as Division I football program Coordinator at the FBS or FCS level. (Sorry for formatting - Drupal Blows)

My daughter was accepted to LS&A today so I am a very proud parent. Have the M flag hanging outside the house. She really wants to attend the music school which is an entirely different application all together. She had to submit a “pre-screen” via mpg file first and get invited to audition. she made it past that hurdle and found out on Monday that her audition is in February. She won’t find out until mid March if she got in. so the drama for my 17 daughter will continue for another 3 months. Acceptance rate is less than 10% so trying to temper expectations.

10/16/2017 - 2:59pm Running back by committee

Running back by committee isn't great for fantasy football or recruiting. Div 1 caliber kids all have dreams of the NFL and they want big stats in order to get noticed, drafted, etc.

Drove both the Charger and Challenger Hellcat at the Portland International Raceway during a Dodge event for press/journalists. 707 Horsepower.  it was big fun but, honestly, a little scary because it had rained and the track was wet.

I used to own a Magnum RT AWD.  Loved that car except when the rear hatch leaked and fried the wiring harness.  Moved on to a waterproof Charger RT.

@TheBigHouse - have you visited LXForums dot com? My site (sorry for shameless promotion)  w lots of Magnum owners.

02/21/2017 - 3:11pm I don't think the guys who

I don't think the guys who orignally invented Drupal even use Drupal anymore.  It is a very challenging content managment system on which to work.  I had a much easier time finding qualified developers to work on our Wordpress sites.

In our social media department we run an auto enthusiast site with around 105,000 members and 4.5 million posts and went through a similar revamp.  Members bitched and moaned about the changes but really appreciated the improvements.  It only got CRAZY when we messed with their reputation point system (similar to MGoPoints).

My 2 cents - if you mess with the MGoPoints system in any way make sure you keep people informed. I don't really care about the points b/c seriously who cares about points (esp. since i have very few) but members on our car site took a lot of pride in their internet reputation / micro-celebrity.  When we messed with the virtual caste system of their pretend world it freaked people out for real.

If your compnay is going to flip the bill i'd consider the Executive Education Program at Ross instead.  i think you can customize the coursework to match your interests. You should also get access to all of the networking and recruiting resources at Ross (if the goal is to further career).

If you have an MBA already the communications degree might be redundant.  Why get a squishy sounding "communications" degree when you can attend the "Transformational Leadership Program: Vision, Strategy and Manageing the Organizatin to Drive Results" at Ross.

No, i am not on the payroll at Ross School of Management but i am a graduate.

12/14/2016 - 11:51am Do you  think our running

Do you  think our running back by committee style this year impacts our RB recruitment?  I think it was more a function of our personnel rather than a commitment to a certain offensive philosophy but i'm sure recruits took note.  I know you can couch it as early playing time for the younger guys but i think most 17 yo recruits hope to be the feature back in college.

I'm sure Wheatley is telling young Mr. Harris - hey every starting spot is earned....come on and grab it.

10/27/2016 - 4:54pm With the academic record I

With the academic record I maintained in high school I am keenly aware that if I were applying to college today there is little chance I’d get accepted to Michigan.  I am proud of my 2 degrees from U of M but am humbled by the fact I was very fortunate to have had the opportunities that were afforded me.  I also appreciate the fact many people either didn’t have the same advantages that I did or simply chose a different path.

Just because we took different routes to the restaurant doesn’t mean we can’t all enjoy our meal together.  In fact, it makes for better dinner conversation.

06/21/2016 - 11:29am I was driving to San Miguel

I was driving to San Miguel de Allende Mexico with my two sisters in a tiny Renault that we rented at the airport.  We were traveling about 60 miles an hour on a very narrow two lane road with no shoulder...just a 3 foot drop off into empty fields.  All of a sudden the front latch on the hood broke lose and the hood of the car flew open and smashed thru the windshield.  Needless to say, driving with the hood open eliminates all visibility.  All three of us immediately started screaming as I swerved around and got the car under control.  it was like the scene in National Lampoon's Vacation when Clark Griswald wakes up after falling asleep behind the wheel.

We drank lots of Tequila when we got to our hotel.

I went to school in late 80's and I'm sure they had some sort of standard but the english proficiency of my science / math TAs was abysmal   Not sure passing the TOEFL exam was even a requirement back then because Mr. Kim, Calculus 115 TA, could not speak a lick of english.  He could say "hello" and that was it.  We had to write our questions down and submit to him on paper. He would then take them home, translate them and provide answers the next day in class.

My struggles also could've been due to my first semester way from home and a fake ID that worked at the liquor store at the corner of Sate and Williams.
