I read this book last night…

I read this book last night. Seth's review is right on.

I loved the personal details Bacon was able to weave into the text.  Living through the "Revenge Tour" last year was a blast; reading it and experiencing it through the players' perspective in the book was even better.

I learned so much more about Coach Harbaugh's background, and have an even deeper appreciation for how much more complex and amazing he is compared to the 2-dimensional picture we get from the media and TV pundits.  That man loves his players, his staff and his university without question - and everything he does is meant to express that love and drive all 3 to their peak performance.

The sacrifices the players, coaches and staff make to support each other and play this game are hard to fathom.  Part of me wanted to believe the success footballers have after graduation was due more to their network than how well they did in school.  This book disabused me of that misconception.  These men put in more work and struggle through more adversary than any of their peers, and as one mother says in the book, more than many 50 year old men leading companies.  These men earn their post-graduation success as much or more than anyone else.

I've read all of Bacon's books about UM Football.  Each is good in their own way; this one is just as great as the others and well worth the time and money.

Go Blue!

Yes, welcome back, Ace! …

Yes, welcome back, Ace!  Thanks for this highlight reel!

Man, I hope this is how it…

Man, I hope this is how it goes.  Our defense has shown some chinks in these first 3 games.  I am a huge Don Brown fan, and love the way these guys play.  I hope we avoid the busts and use this Nebraska O as practice against a seemingly mobile quarterback (assuming their starter is back).  My prediction: M: 35 N: 10

These write-ups are the reason I love this blog. Thank you for the details that make me smarter than the average fan and help me appreciate the beauty of this team.

Hard to take this seriously…

Hard to take this seriously when head coaches are millionaires and assistants make more than a University President.  Perhaps a redistribution of spending is needed to make this work in Madison, but I seriously doubt they (or any other major program) would stop.

+1 for Alber's! https://www.michigan.org/property/alber-s-orchard-cider-mill Absolutely worth the trip to Alber's. The folks running it now bought it from the Alber family and really care about the land and the product they are putting out. 104 varieties of apples on the property and the best cider, bar none. Donuts come from another local family and are fantastic!
X and O articles are the reason I come here I love this blog and often thank the friend that introduced me to this space. I have to say, the X and O articles are 90% of the reason I come here. Up to date and insightful M Sports news is the other 10%. But, I cannot think of another place that has taught me more about football than this blog (and I played for years as a kid, too!) Please keep it up!
Me Too I used to live in Westerville also. All my siblings graduated from high school there, though not South. Small world. I hope this kid keeps up the hard work! GO BLUE!
Congrats Coach! Hope all are happy and healthy and home soon!
Thank you, Jabrill What a great emissary for our program. I am proud of him as a person and his impact as a player. I loved watching him, my kids loved watching him. Good Luck Mr. Peppers!
Targeting? Is Targeting not a thing in the CFP? I've seen at least 4 easy targeting calls go unflagged. Pitiful.
I Agree I don't have enough points to upvote this, but I would if I could. Well articulated and well reasoned. Thank you for your thoughtful commentary.
Some of them are reasonable

I am related by birth to more than a few Buckeye fans.  At half time they each texted me that they thought the game was over and they were terribly dissappointed in their team (no props to Michigan for outstanding defense of course).

At the end of the game none of them were willing to agree the referees were terrible, only that UM lef tthe door open and OSU fell through it.

We never talked about "the spot."  And we haven't talked about the game since.

I was in the stadium, and I can say that when the first replay of "the spot" was shown on the jumbotron, the whole crowd gasped.  EVERYONE in that stadium knew they were short.  EVERYONE knew the game was over.

And then, the second angle was played and everyone knew they were going to be given 4 more tries...

I sncerely hope our year is not over and I sincerely hope we meet the on the field again with this defense intact.

In Harbaugh I trust.

Columbus Food I lived in Columbus for 2 years when I was a kid. I hated every moment of it. My folks still live on the North side, so I find myself there a few times every year. German Village is the "up and coming" part of town. There are trendy pubs/microbreweries, etc in that neck of the woods. (Tip: Google "Columbus German Village Restaurants" and work from there.) I will be in section 6C Saturday with my son for his first experience in "the shoe." I hope to see a ton of Maize and Blue! GO BLUE!
OSU subcontracts OSU subcontracts their helicopter flight service from (www.medflight.com). I think they subcontract the medical team (nurses and EMTs) on the flight as well. I flew with them for a few days as a part of a in internship when I was in college. UM leases 3 helicopters and has a service contract for maintenance and pilots. We train our own flight nurses and send physicians out on flights as well. I have also flown with Survival Flight. I would trust Survival Flight with my life in any circumstance. They are the best air medical team in the world! Another example of Michigan excellence! GO BLUE!
