09/22/2013 - 3:15pm James Hilton

James Hilton would be an interesting choice.  He hails from Texas, received his PhD from Princeton, was a tenured professor of psych at Michigan for years (his area of specializaition is the psychology of suspicion, hmm), became interested in digital rights, was appointed associate vice provost of all things information, then left for UVA with Sullivan (and when one of his kids matriculated there), and is now back in Ann Arbor as Dean of the Libraries and several other administrative posts.  He is solid gold.

02/21/2012 - 4:45pm I do want to protest too

I do want to protest too much!  My UM BGS got me a free ride (tuition + stipend) for an Ivy-league PhD followed by a tenure-track gig at Princeton!

little brother understands that even with a win head-to-head, he will never measure up against michigan.

I say "yes" and if your scenario plays out, I'll eat my hat. It's all about the conference, for me.

I watched the UM-MSU game (shudder). We got beat by a better team. Just sayin'.

Moreover, Dantonio will personally escort him from the hoosegow to the team bus.

10/16/2011 - 5:16pm Somebody doesn't remember the

Somebody doesn't remember the 1979 Gator Bowl, when LT practically ripped Wangler's leg off at the end of a play, severely injuring him and ending his day. That was the dirtiest, foulest, most loathsome thing I have ever seen in a Michigan game. Yes, dirtier than Gholston.

10/16/2011 - 4:26pm Dirtier than Lawrence Taylor?

Dirtier than Lawrence Taylor? I respectfully disagree.

10/16/2011 - 4:18pm My daughter — the one shown

My daughter — the one shown in my photograph — was heavily recruited by State, and agreed to apply as a personal favor to one of the MSU faculty. We drove up from Ann Arbor and parked. A few minutes into our walk to the department office, she turned to me and announced in utter seriousness, "I can't go here, Dad".

"Why, honey?", I asked.

"Its all that green and white, all those S-es, the statues ... No, Dad, I can't."

That was such a "raised her right" moment for me.

Anyway, this is just to say that some would disagree with you about just how nice the MSU campus is.

P.S.: And then she broke my heart — and my wallet — by turning down a full tuition scholarship from Michigan and accepted a partial scholarship from Indiana. Kids today, sigh.

10/16/2011 - 3:50pm It stands to reason that

It stands to reason that Lewan shared his opinion of Gholson's character with him as he helped him up.

10/14/2011 - 10:24pm Links to streams are

Links to streams are mentioned on the live blog.

Honestly, watching an illegal stream, listening to the (legal!) WCBN streaming play-by-play, and keeping up on the live blog has become, for me, the ideal way to follow the game each week.

I have an old picture from when I was maybe three years old, wearing a Michigan cardigan sweater. Along the bottom of this photo my Mom wrote GO BIG M. I have always known I was a Michigan fan.

pyew! pyew! pyew!

10/14/2011 - 9:54pm I probably have a couple

I probably have a couple things jumbled up in my mind ... Wangler to Carter as time runs out ... Ufer HONK HONK HONK the replay they play all the time on the radio ... This was Indiana, away, right? 19 ... 89?

Anyway, just before that awesome pass, I-really-forget-who (dammit) intentionally fumbled the ball out of bounds to stop the clock. That was ... ugly.

10/14/2011 - 9:46pm That was ten minutes well

That was ten minutes well spent. Henne to Manningham with one second left, remember that?!? I plotzed. And the players up on the student section wall afterwards ... awesome. (No Lloyd Brady sighting.)

I figure it's the moral equivalent of "that team up north."

10/14/2011 - 4:44pm Just raising her right is all

Just raising her right is all you're doing. And she will repay you by terrorizing your grandchildren someday. The circle of life. It's a beautiful thing, man, it's a beautiful thing.

10/14/2011 - 4:40pm Not to put too fine a point

Not to put too fine a point on it, but I raised no wimpy kids, and you can find my spawn in major cities around the world screaming fits (with that 12-letter four-letter word in heavy rotation) at a nearby screen (which might be a streaming laptop) on any given game day.

02/04/2011 - 3:41pm if i recall correctly,

just stop.  Godwin's Law.

11/29/2010 - 7:37pm michigan man

i feel the same way.

if harbaugh were to come back for the '85 celebration and show even the slightest contrition, i might back off on the hatred, but it looks like that's not going to happen.

at this point, rodriguez is more of a Michigan Man than harbaugh, in my book.

11/18/2010 - 10:59am lewan concussion

RR is saying Lewan suffered a concussion some time in the first half, which might explain the fall-off in his performance.

11/12/2010 - 9:39am i meant floyd

i meant floyd, not kovacs.

this has been bugging me since the moment i posted it, but i only now figured out why.

11/11/2010 - 11:24pm on the goal line

every team needs a refrigerator in the playbook

11/08/2010 - 11:00am 1,800 points

my favorite moment was right after the first TD.

i looked at the game clock (14:46), got out a calculator and figured out that at that torrid scoring pace, michigan was on pace for an 1,800 point game!

11/07/2010 - 10:14pm avery is improving

the nice thing about avery's play yesterday is that there were nice things to say about avery's play yesterday.

last year, kovacs was in the same place, with lots of room for improvement, and that is working out.
