LOL at the OP.

03/18/2019 - 10:49am Beilein's x and o's have…

Beilein's x and o's have taken a steep nosedive this year. They run absolutely no off ball action on offense which is mind boggling considering they have a PG who can't shoot and capable wings. They are exclusively a PnR team and that leads to heroball when teams switch everything on them for which they still have no answer for. They kept hard hedging the pick and roll with Tillman on the floor and got eaten up for 3rd straight time. Beilein made two big recruiting mistakes with Davis and Brooks so this team has no bench. I'm sorry but watching Izzo spank him this year was disheartening considering what everyone on this board was saying about him last year.

Unless Beilein starts running more off ball action on O, which has vanished from the offense for some reason the last few years, they have a ceiling on how far they can go.

All of this is spot on. All of it.

03/18/2019 - 10:36am When Michigan faces a…

When Michigan faces a switching defense they just freeze and take bad shots because their answers don't work: X isn't a stepback shooter, they don't have any Iso guys, Matthews is not a good offensive player, and they can't feed the post. Izzo admits he "couldn't play Ward" but also auto-benched Tillman and Michigan immediately swung out to a double-digit lead.

How about Beilein for once in his god damn life run some off the ball action on offense instead of relying exclusively on pick and roll. This is the main reason ISO ball happens late in the shot clock when teams switch 1-5 on us. Iggy and Poole take some really dumb shots sometimes. The lack of a bench is on Beilein as well. Livers needs to be way more aggressive taking 3's. And there is no excuse for not putting Matthews on McQuaid all game but instead they put him on Henry? LOL. Here's an idea, stop helping off the guy who's lighting you up for 27 fucking points John. Stop hard hedging every single ball screen. Switch on MSU like they do to us. Izzo pulled Beilein's pants down and spanked him. Three times. Just sad.

03/18/2019 - 12:52am Unless Beilein starts…

Unless Beilein starts running some off ball action on offense it won't matter. Our lulls are because all we do is pick n roll. Beilein has been a disaster x and o wise this year. So disapointing from a supposed offensive genius.

03/17/2019 - 7:48pm Beilein got owned. His…

Beilein got owned. His offense flat out sucks. Once again pivotal calls down the stretch went against UM, but anyone defending JB after this is out of their mind. He has no idea how to attack a team that switches everything. Runs nothing off the ball anymore, Just a bunch of pick and roll and hoisting 3's. He's been bad this year.

03/17/2019 - 7:28pm Shot selection is bad…

Shot selection is bad because Beilein runs no off ball action. When teams switch 1-5 it leads to SIo ball and bad shots late in the shot clock. We're exclusively a pick and roll team. Beilein has been terrible this year his x and o's leave a lot to be desired and losing 3 times to MSU in the manner that he did is indefensible.

03/17/2019 - 7:06pm Tactically this is the worst…

Tactically this is the worst Beilein has been on the offensive end in a long long long time. UM knew MSU was going to switch 1-5 and all they did was play iso ball and pick and roll. Very little off ball action. His offensive acumen has taken a nosedive these past two years and that's sad. Izzo took him behind the shed and whipped him, three times. Just another pitiful effort on offense.

03/14/2019 - 7:26pm Michigan is in a good spot…

Michigan is in a good spot with a number of other offensive linemen. Mike Zordich extended an offer to three-star FL OT Kobe Baynes, #1143 overall and 2020’s #106 OT, and immediately became one of Baynes’ top three schools, he told The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich.

Look out Bama.

Good post. I also recall MSU being in the double bonus extremely early in the game at Breslin last year and many of UM's FT's were attempted at the end of the game too just like in NYC.

No it's not my twitter handle smartass. And I suppose Matt D doesn't know what he's talking about either? Sit this one out bub.

False. All of it.

Second half keys to a Michigan victory:

Prevent second shot opportunities for MSU.

Continue to switch the ball screen

The End

Have no clue why Beilein is going back to hedge + recover. Did he not watch film from the first contest?

— LAbound (@LAbound2) March 10, 2019

John Beilein will be the cause of a 2nd straight loss to MSU because he went with hedge + recover for PnR coverage in the 2nd half rather than switching as he did in the first half.

— LAbound (@LAbound2) March 10, 2019

John elected to revert to hedge + recover in the 2nd half as he did in the first matchup and was promptly destroyed much like the first matchup. Very bad coaching vs PnR. First half we switched and there was zero reason to change that philosophy https://t.co/05NSD7iLRv

If you think a 30-7 free throw disparity didn't have an enormous effect on the game you are just plain dumb. Not only did it affect how UM could play defense it affected their rotations in the game. Eli Brooks averages 2 minutes a game this year, on Saturday he played 20. Brandon Johns and Colin Castleton each played over 10. But that had no affect on the game according to you, MSU was just better. Gee I wonder why. Get fucking real.

03/11/2019 - 12:42pm It's not a foul in the…

It's not a foul in the context of what MSU was able to get away with compared to UM. It's like in football where you can call holding on every play if you want to. No difference in hoops. Simpson puts his hands on guys all the time. He does it every time down the court. To call that little touch a foul and not everything else is where the issue is. 30-7 FT disparity. Arguing this is stupid.

03/11/2019 - 12:37pm The guy had 5 days to…

The guy had 5 days to prepare and the previous game's worth of film to figure out MSU's swithces on defense and pick and rolls on offense and was lost. Absolutely lost. It has nothing to do with being an "in game" this or that. Also, you don't get to call someone the best coach in the country if they can't make in game adjustments, which Beilein has done in the past. Your post makes absolutely zero sense.

03/11/2019 - 12:35pm Bingo.

Not just you see my post below. Beilein and Yaklich got owned. Again. With 5 days to prepare.

03/11/2019 - 12:28pm You can literally slow down…

You can literally slow down every single play of the game and find a foul somewhere. 30-7 free throw advantage says it all stop effing defending it.

03/11/2019 - 12:27pm Beilein decided to hedge and…

Beilein decided to hedge and recover every ball screen in the 2nd half on defense (just like he did in the first game) and got thoroughly destroyed (again). It was a layup line to basket. Why he stopped switching everything like he did in the first half will be this season's biggest mystery. Couple that with the ref show and the pathetic effort rebounding the ball and another offensive lull and we blew a great shot at a title. Beilein better deliver in the tournament because this has not been his best year x and o's wise at all. It's not that damn hard to throw the ball into the post on switches. The idea we "never do it" so it makes it ok is wrong. It's like saying it's ok Michigan's football offense doesn't have a functional two minute drill because they never do it so ho hum. Beilein was badly outcoached by Izzo twice. Also, the guy needs to drop the nice guy act and start getting into the officials like Izzo. You know why Izzo acts like he does on the sideline? Because it works. But hey, guess we're the ones who are "defeated with dignity" because our coach is too virtuous to get up the ass of these horrible refs.

Whatever he saw resulted in MSU scoring 46 points in the 2nd half. Getting away from switching everything to the hedge and recover was moronic. No other way to say it.

His x and o's have taken a huge nosedive this season, and don't get me started on his substitution patterns and his teams inability to fucking rebound.

03/09/2019 - 10:52pm So no one wants to talk…

So no one wants to talk about how Beilein went to hedge and recover in the 2nd half on D and got shredded when switching everything was working in the first half Okey dokey.

03/09/2019 - 10:45pm Said the exact same thing…

Said the exact same thing earlier in this thread. Truly effing moronic. Beilein got his ass handed to him tonight. Bady outcoached. And the 41-18 rebounding edge MSU had is white collar UM being back. Add in the 24-2 run MSU had in the 2nd half and John Beilein had a horrendous day at the office.

03/09/2019 - 10:38pm No, Beilein electing to…

No, Beilein electing to revert to hedge and recover in the 2nd half to defend ball screens as he did in the first MSU game got destroyed, again. He switched everything in the first half and it worked. The reality is John Beilein got his ass handed to him on offense and defense tonight and that's why we lost. Yes, the refs were a fucking disgrace too, but there was no reason to change up the defense and it cost UM a ship. Pitiful.

That's Izzo's MO and everyone knows it, so not sure why it causes such consternation year after year. Just laugh and move on.

I mean, they are missing two starters. I heard a lot about injuries from UM fans when Caris LeVert and Derick Walton got hurt. You're right that MSU plays this card every year though. BTW what UM was able to do in 2014 without McGary was really impressive. If Mitch was healthy Michigan would have won the national title that year.

Brooks is not a B1G caliber player and the sooner people accept this the better, especially Beilein. He's 5/27 from the field in 2019 and gone scoreless 12 times. He needs to stop getting minutes.
