Man, I really never allowed…

Man, I really never allowed myself to enjoy the championship victory like I should have because I was in such shock at the end of the game that it actually happened. Reading this, I unashamedly admit that I got a little emotional recollecting just how dominant this team was and how lucky us fans were to be able to watch these kids ball out for the entire year. Such a strange and unusual season with a deserved glorious ending. Business is finished.

No way Klopp would take the…

No way Klopp would take the Bayern job. He's a Dortmund legend as a manager. I think Tuchel is kind of a crap manager who just can't adapt/isn't very innovative or entertaining to watch anymore. Idk what went wrong with him but his Dortmund team was fun and exciting. His teams since have been overly defensive, slow, and pretty boring to watch.

This had the feel of a game…

This had the feel of a game that we should have probably won by at least a touchdown in regulation if the offense could have executed a bit better at some stages (won't mention the special teams' role in this in this thread). The drives that scored looked great. Some of the drives felt like missed opportunities. Thought Moore called a pretty good game.

Congrats for showing out when needed to on that final drive in regulation and OT. Go blue!

Can't disagree with anything…

Can't disagree with anything you said, but the team was basically handed 21 points by the special teams and defense. Offense really was responsible for about 6 points today.

Once again, it feels like…

Once again, it feels like the play calling has been holding this team back more than anything else.

I know the O line is beat up, but where is the play action? Where is the downfield passing? Get ready for another run up the middle on third and 2. No flea flicker? Nothing to scheme receivers open? A run on 2nd and 18?

Moore feels like the Cade McNamara of play callers. Safe and conservative, won't lost you the game but won't win it for you either most likely. Wow now I feel like a total bitch for even complaining after winning the BIG championship AGAIN!!! Go blue!

I would be surprised if McDaniel doesn't transfer if this season ends up the same as next season. Guy would be a stud for a contending team.

It's a shame man. Love me some Michigan basketball.

Dang that is dark and it…

Dang that is dark and it still cracked me up.

While it all seems obvious…

While it all seems obvious that this is a witch hunt to us Michigan fans who have been following the "scandal" religiously, the average OSU fan cannot read and therefore relies on ESPN talking heads to get their info.

So you're saying that an…

So you're saying that an unprecedented punishment handed down by the BIG without them doing an investigation over a very questionable rules violation, based on hearsay and false outrage from opposing coaches, is a win for Michigan?

I understand that Petitti's hands are sort of tied, but he let the cat out of the bag by even letting a mob mentality amongst the universities rule the day.

All that being said, no trend on Twitter will make a difference I'm afraid.

I mean, sure I guess one…

I mean, sure I guess one success counts for something once Penn State got desperate, but why limit yourself? I wouldn't call one successful drive in a half of football an achievement especially when one of the best QBs in the country is on the roster.

I'm happy for the win, but I feel it could have been the beat down I craved.

While I love the win, this…

While I love the win, this felt like a game Michigan should and could have scored at least 1 or two touchdowns if they threw it at least 8 times in the second half too?

People will say "as long as it worked..." but it really didn't. Michigan muscled out that field goal and got basically nothing outside that until the TD run. Offense looked better in the first half.

I think you're way…

I think you're way underestimating the price of windows, my dude.

Gas station milkshakes for…

Gas station milkshakes for the win! And God bless them for giving out the larger circumference straws too.

I agree with you that Jace…

I agree with you that Jace probably isn't much of an upgrade on TWill. OTOH, I would never suggest letting TWill "cook" is a good strategy for winning many games. Love the guy's hustle and I hope he takes another step in his development, but thus far he seems like a guy who should be the seventh or eighth man on a genuinely good basketball team.

As someone who was born in…

As someone who was born in Cincinnati against my will, I agree with that statement.

This team probably has a…

This team probably has a higher ceiling than last year's team, but also a lower floor.

PG: Depth, or lack thereof, goes without saying. Dug looked great last game, but he can be a bit of a loose cannon so there will be plenty of ups and downs, I think.

SG: Seems to be set up fairly well with Bukfin, Baker, Jett all able to contribute. Bufkin is the slashing type that this team needed, but he will also need to shoot better from outside to really unlock this offense.

SF: Obviously, Jett has been the second best player on the team so far this year. He is what we all hoped Houston would be last year, with a little playmaking worked in. Obviously, Baker and Jace can rotate in as well.

PF: This is a tough spot. TWill hasn't really progressed much. He is a very inconsistent shooter, often times invisible for large chunks of the game offensively. He is an average defender at best and he is a below average rebounder. IMO this is clearly our weakest starting position on the team. There is some potential behind him in Barnes, Jace, and Khayat.

C: Dickinson is still a dude. He is a known entity and it appears he has nearly reached his ceiling as a college player. Reed will be really good, but his FT shooting alone can be a real killer.

Ace was a very good writer…

Ace was a very good writer for the site. Unfortunately, he had a lot of health problems that prevented him from writing on a consistent basic for chunks of the year. Then 2020 hit and the message board really struggled to keep politics out of everything and Ace was adding fuel to the fire by not only getting political himself, but had influence in getting certain longtime MgoBlog users, like Wolverine Devotee, banned for having differing political views, allegedly. Since then, I think Ace realized he needed to take a step away for a bit. Honestly, I know a lot of us took a break from the site for a while. It was a really challenging time for a lot of people mentally as well as physically.

I haven't seen many details…

I haven't seen many details on the situation. The concealed carry laws are a little confusing. Storing the gun in the same compartment as ammo, even if they are placed in the back of the car, is still considered illegal without a CPL. That being said, I don't know how a cop would notice this unless it was on Mazi or placed somewhere in plain view next to him.

As others have said, a gun is no joke. It can be a very useful tool, but also very dangerous (duh). You need to be aware of the situations you are in when carrying. This whole ordeal seems like a result of a lack of awareness. Is this just a stupid mistake? Probably. We all make stupid mistakes, but it definitely has significantly more weight to it if a gun is involved and therefore, no bueno.

I will always view Haskins…

I will always view Haskins dragging his massive nut sack across the back of that Buckeye's neck and back as the definitive turning point in this rivalry.

To be fair, there were a lot…

To be fair, there were a lot of similar complaints early on with last year's team and they ended up 7th in the big ten. Sure they got better, but there were clear, identifiable issues from the outset that never resolved themselves completely. Pointing out concerns with this team doesn't mean they won't improve on them, but it definitely does signal a lot of the red flags that are obvious to the average watcher.

Michigan's defense is…

Michigan's defense is probably going to have to improve a lot as the year goes along, and it might as the team has 4 new starters that need to learn to mesh together.

Also, Emoni Bates takes some absolutely horrible shots. Sometimes, like 4 times a year, he'll hit those shots for a game, like he did against us. Otherwise he is a high volume, low efficiency scorer. I didn't watch the EMU game vs Bradley, but my guess is Bates returned to his normal shooting ways and Bradley just forced everyone else to shoot.

Dickinson is who we thought…

Dickinson is who we thought he was: a dude.

Bufkin seems like a solid support piece, but won't take over offensively as some of us may have expected or hoped. Seems to lack the quickness to beat his man off the dribble so far.

I think Jett will be option #2 most nights. He seems the most well rounded offensively after Dickinson

Great game from TWill.

Defense was really really bad with a lot of communication issues. Eastern did hit some crazy shots, but usually sliced and diced their way to the rim.

Young team with a lot of room for improvement. Great to see the vets step up today when the young bloods were making some mistakes. Go blue!

Yeah I don't disagree with…

Yeah I don't disagree with that. but even against the lesser competition last year, McNamara had issues with missing open receivers and inaccuracy that we havent seen on the same scale with JJ.

The offense does need to find a way to send the ball downfield more often though.

While I'm with you that JJ…

While I'm with you that JJ is way overhyped at the moment, I do think he has a much higher ceiling than Cade. As far as JJ being Cade...not a great take considering JJ's completion percentage is 14 points higher than Cade's was last year.

It does sort of feel like JJ has been "managing" the game, like a lot of us complained about Cade last year (including me). Granted, so far, JJ has been a much better game manager in his starts than Cade typically was last year. Only halfway through the season though. It also seems like 80% of the plays that JJ ran last year have been taken out of the play book when he was given the starting job

So maybe this is just the…

So maybe this is just the backwoods Indiana hillbilly that is running through my veins, but I would be prepared to put that dog down myself if it steps foot on my property again. It is unfortunate that this dog may have to pay the price of its owner being subpar, but a dog that is willing to do that to you will be willing to do it to someone else. Next time it may not be an adult, but a kid.

Kind of agree. Morris is a known commodity and Pefok is money right now and having a camp with the team could provide some useful insight into how he could work with the team more than Morris I would think. I know Pefok has been called up before, but I feel this is a missed opportunity.

Pepi getting called over…

Pepi getting called over Pefok or Wright is a little weird. Both have been in great form. Meanwhile, Pepi hasn't done a whole lot. We are in a weird moment where all of our keepers are either underperforming or not starting a whole lot and the forwards are on fire.

I like that the US has enough depth now that there is no way to get all the good players on the field at the same time, especially in the midfield.

My WC lineup, assuming Ant Robinson is healthy and so is everyone else (knock on wood for Gio) is:

Goal - Turner

D - Dest, Richards, Zimmerman, Robinson

Mid - Adams, McKennie, Musah

Forwards - Aaronson, Ferreira, Pulisic

I think the 9 is up for grabs, but Berhalter will go with Ferreira because he has played a handful of games at that spot for the US at this point and he is in form. Gio and Weah are wildcards. Gio has been made up toothpicks up until this point, but he is the x factor if healthy. When he comes on for Dortmund, he is their most complete attacking player on their team at this stage. If Sargent is still in good form come the WC then that is just icing on the cake.

For those looking for the…

For those looking for the quote in question in response to being questioned about the QB situation with JJ starting the next game:

"I would definitely say it's pretty unusual," McNamara said. "It was kind of a thing I wasn't expecting by the end of camp. I thought I had my best camp. I thought I put myself in a good position and that was just the decision that coach went with."

...huh, I see someone already posted to quote in question. My bad. Nothing special to see here.

Meh, everything is earned…

Meh, everything is earned. Think of Jalen Hurts at Alabama. Dude led Bama to a championship and then another championship and was benched on the spot the next season.

I get that it is only natural to be upset if you're Cade, I'd be worried if he wasn't, but I don't think he has been hard done by the coaching staff based off of the game today.

I have my doubts that…

I have my doubts that McNamara will feature as much as everyone thinks he will if he gets demoted. Mccarthy has a skill that McNamara didn't have last year with his running ability, and if JJ isn't struggling in games, I don't see a reason to bring Cade in the same way that JJ was brought in.

The offense went next level…

The offense went next level when JJ opened up the run game.

Good to see Ronnie Bell get back on the Stat sheet.

Was at that game. My dad had gotten free tickets from someone. Arena was pretty empty. My father and I were wondering who this twiggy guy was that was torching Michigan. Curry looked like a 10 year old in those big baggy shorts and was SKINNY!

Some great websites are…

Some great websites are already posted by others here. Honestly, I would recommend watching as many highlights or games as possible to really get a feel for how the team will shape up. So much can change so quickly in soccer unlike any other sport I've watched. A player can be considered world class today and next week they're seen as a bum.

If you have an ESPN + account you can watch Bundesliga games where gio Reyna, Tyler Adams, Joe scally, John Brooks, Chris Richards, and a couple more play. Also, you can watch series A games where Weston Mckennie plays with this account.

If you have a Peacock subscription then you can stream premier league and watch pulisic, Josh Sargent and maybe Zack steffen (he's a backup).

Beyond that, players like Weah, Aaronson, Dest, Antonee Robinson, Musah and more are going to be harder to find games for on TV. The MLS players I'm sure will be not hard to find or watch.

I don't ever watch the…

I don't ever watch the Oscars or any award shows whether it be for movies for music. I did see this clip because it has gone viral. I generally see "Hollywood" and its stars as the poster children for hypocrisy. I don't understand how Will Smith could have no problem laughing at jokes about the other people and then the moment the jokes about someone close to him, he throws a fit...and the weird thing is that he seemed to be laughing at the joke himself for a few seconds before getting up. Alopecia isn't even an illness. It is like saying that someone going bald is sick. My wife has alopecia and it is incredibly common among women and men. Chris Rock was making a joke about a woman going bald. That is in no way out of line for a comedian. If people don't enjoy a lot of comedians, I understand it. Comedy can seem very insensitive and rude. This joke didn't seem to be near that line.

And then they still allow Will Smith to accept the award. They didn't even kick him out! I swear these actors and actresses are always stressing peace and loving and they don't do a damn thing when someone just straight up slaps somebody unprovoked right in front of them...worse than that, they still allow him to accept his award and give a speech. I will leave my soapbox now.

Donovan Edwards looks like…

Donovan Edwards looks like he is 45 years old.

So Psyched for next season! Go Blue!

Gosh, it really is a hard…

Gosh, it really is a hard spot to be put in. Certain people definitely have a very strong fight or flight response and the more you have been in situations where those are triggered, the stronger and more instinctual the reaction. At least, that has been my experience.

I really have no idea what kind of childhood he had to engrain that kind of attitude and also the kind of league the NBA was for so much of his career where scuffle like that were more common, but you would think that has to play a major role in these random blowups Juwan has occasionally. He seems so composed 95% of the time and then just randomly explodes.

Either way, while that behavior is explainable, it doesn't make it acceptable (duh). I would understand a suspension for at bare minimum the rest of the regular season, but I don't think this warrants firing.

I think there can be…

I think there can be rational, level-headed arguments for Juwan to be fired as well. That being said, I don't think this should end in him getting canned. He has had enough run-ins now that a pattern is emerging, but nothing has been Malice at the Palace level bad. He didn't throw a punch, but he definitely made forceful contact to the assistant's face while in the hand shake line of all places. Again, once everything cools off, I can see this being a suspension for a month/rest of the season, but firing him seems a bit harsh here.

I think his suspension should at least be longer than whatever Diabate gets. Juwan put that guy in a bad spot and we know a hard nose guy like Diabate isn't just going to back down from anyone.

That was REALLY bad. If a…

That was REALLY bad. If a player did that, I see a bad suspension. Coach? Bare minimum he's sitting for the rest of the season. Idk what the Wiscy assistant said or if Juwan took exception to him grabbing Twill, but it wasn't warranted. Worse yet, he put his players in a spot that could get them suspended too. I didn't watch the replay too many times, but Diabate seemed to be taking swings. He is probably going to have to pay some price for his coach putting him in a tough position.

I wouldn't object too strongly if Howard was canned. I feel that's the last thing Michigan basketball needs right now, but it just is hard to defend him. Juwan seems like such a good man, but he's had his moments where he loses his cool. I can relate, but he's in a high profile position. Tough moment for Michigan basketball. The team will bounce back.

That game was awesome!!!…

That game was awesome!!! Much needed victory for the team and way to do it in style! The team looked perfectly balanced between the inside-outside game. Great shooting will help with that.

It's crazy to think the team that just scraped  by Penn State in an UGLY game could do this to Purdue just a few days later. It's so hard to get any sort of gauge on this team and their realistic ceiling.

They'll be grateful for the…

They'll be grateful for the times Dickinson bought them oodles of space on offense.

Pretty much a zero downside…

Pretty much a zero downside trade here for the Pistons. Bagley has been stuck in Sactown and needed a new scene to improve much. He may be a long shot to get significantly better to ever justify his #2 draft pick, but he still has a lot of potential. I don't think he is going to improve Detroit enough this year to make them too much better and risk losing out on one of the top draft slots.

Considering how bad the…

Considering how bad the Hurricanes were last year, this is definitely a good upgrade for them. The fans should be excited because it at least seems like he will make them better on the offensive side of the ball. That being said....

I was never overly impressed with Gattis during his time here. Sure, some of that probably has to do with him learning to call plays during games and adjusting his gameplan, but we were halfway through the season this year before the offense hit any kind of stride at all. I think we can all agree that the last couple of years before this were either disappointing or outright bad on offense compared to the talent level. Gattis brought a different offense with him (sorta), but I can't say it was any better than the Fisch offenses and it definitely hasn't been consistently good in ways that the Fisch offense was either.
