The timing strikes me as being a bit disrespectful. Crootin' I know, but announcing literally 24 hours after leaving Ann Arbor? Why even come?
It blows my mind that none of these high-profile quarterbacks want to play under Jim Harbaugh. I know that McCaffery, Milton and Peters are all well-regarded but I'm surprised none of the elite, 5-star guys have chosen to play for the best quarterbacks coach in the country.

The best post of the year is Brian's "The Story" post which kicks off preview week.
I loved picture pages when Seth and Brian were doing it--I hope it makes a comeback.
The monday game column and the UFR's are awesome as well.
|11/03/2016 - 8:33pm||re: Hill and Long||
Anyone else confused as to why David Long and/or Lavert Hill aren't seeing the field in 3 and 4 WR sets, especially since Clark went down and in light of Watson and now Metellus getting time? At least one of them has a great chance to start next year and I would think the coaching staff would like to bleed them a little since they played earlier in the year and the redshirts are gone. This game seemed like the perfect opportunity to do so given that Michigan had the game in hand.

Great story, thanks for sharing your perspective MichiganMan!
Sort of a small world, but I'm from the Tampa area myself and am familiar with "Sarasota Riverview High" as we called it. I attended Bloomingdale HS (east of Tampa) at at time when we were in the same district with you. Sarasota Riverview always had an impressive team.
Being from Florida but not a Michigan alum like yourself, I have an affinity and appreciation for your fanship of Michigan. It must be really cool to be able to have that "rub off" on kids you coach from time to time. I really look forward to watching this kid develop. I'll be rooting for him. Go Blue!

|05/29/2010 - 6:16pm||4-5-1 = 4 defenders, 5||
4-5-1 = 4 defenders, 5 midfielders and 1 forward correct? So your saying the US needs to keep 1 more person back against England?
|05/29/2010 - 5:47pm||I don't know much about||
I don't know much about soccer but I love watching the US soccer team during the World Cup. I thought the energy that Findley brought into the second half changed the whole complexion of the game and made the difference. I know he doesnt have any experience but I would seriously consider starting him. Why not? Dempsey played much more effectively at mid-field in the 2nd half and Findley's speed and aggressiveness really got the team going.
The other player I was really impressed with was Jose Torres. I got the feeling that Brian's not too high on Torres after his post on the Czech game but he looked like a stud out there. If the only thing preventing Torres from starting is a perception that he can't play like that the whole 90, I say start him and give him a chance to prove us wrong.
Onyewu looked a little better and the 2nd half.
Last comment---I disagree with the original poster regarding Spector being responsible for the first goal. He made a nice run and in that situation someone from the back or mid needs to slide over and cover for him. Even still, he ran all the way back and almost made the stop. I thought the goal was more due to Goodson's failure to slide over and help rather than Spector being out of position.
a couple questions from someone who doesn't know much about the USMNT: Other than Altidore who is still pretty raw, we have no experience up front. Would it have been completely ridiculous to give someone like Brian McBride a call? I understand he's 40 or something by now but wouldn't that experience help or is it more of a benefit to give the younger players the opportunity with an eye toward the future? Also, I get the feeling that losing Charlies Davies was big. Is it a lock that he would have made the 23-man roster had he not gotton injured? And who has taken his spot now that he's out?
The result was encouraging today....can't wait for England.

I picked Duke to win it all which is the reason I won as most people took Kansas. Another prediction re: The Masters this weekend for those that care----Tiger Woods won't make the cut. You heard it here first. Book it.

"as painful as tiny gremlins stretch your scrotum across 2 counties." Awesome. I LOL-ed.
Look, Zack Novak and Stu Douglass are role players at best in the Big Ten. Until they become role players at Michigan, we'll struggle. Love the hustle, love the grit, etc. but those kids can't play with the more athletic big ten 2,3 and 4s. It ain't happening and Michigan is probably a couple years away from making the tournament again. Michigan needs to get more athletic (please Trey Ziegler k thnks) and Michigan needs more size.

Really hope Cissoko's injury isn't serious or else we're in trouble vs. ND's pass offense. With Warren and Cissoko we match up well but if we just have Warren the other side is going to be exploited. JT Turner really needs to step up. Wish Adrian Witty had gotton in too..

If the goal was a couple safe,easy wins against a respectable opponent that I think we've met that goal. But at a time when our biggest rival has scheduled home and homes w/ USC, Virginia Tech, Texas and Tennessee this looks pretty pathetic. I personally would have liked to have seen a bigger opponent in this slot. Oklahoma State would have been fun.

Nuke every Wendy's?? Really?
They have pretty decent alternatives health-wise for a fast food joint w/ the salads, chili, oranges, etc. I always feel their food tastes fresh (for a fast-food place). I mean, if you're gonna nuke Wendy's what's your reaction to BK and MCD's?

I posted a similar comment regarding this new creation on facebook. Can it really get any worse than a "bacon, cheesy potato burrito?"
Maybe it can----I just saw an advertisement for Long John Silver's new "baja fish taco." What the hell does baja even mean?
And btw, Moe's > chipotle or Qdoba. They give you free chips and salsa brah.

Can't wait for the day when beating Ohio State becomes the norm again. Awesome footage, nice post. We really kicked their ass that day.
Since someone's already posted above about it, what is the deal with all those pieces of white in the NW corner of the end zone? Are they really marshmellows? Why did ppl throw marshmellows onto the field? I remember the same thing happening in the game against Michigan State in 2000 where we won 14-0 I believe and probably many other games I'm forgetting.

I think Minor's big run against Ohio State this past year that set up our only score was on the outside. But yeah....they were few and far between last year.

Can't believe noone's mentioned Papa John's. By far the best of the delivery chains. It's light on the grease relative to other delivery giants like Pizza Hut and Domino's. It also comes with the garlic/butter/lard sauce to dip your crust in. Amazing.

Look out for Andy Murrey not that Nadal is out. Obv. this becomes Fed's tourney to lose but Murrey is a great player and has had success against Fed. It's wide open now. I tend to root against Fed b/c I'm a big Sampras fan.
|05/31/2009 - 12:28am||Yeah the Djokovic loss was||
Yeah the Djokovic loss was pretty surprising given how he had played the last 2 months. I really thought he would beat Fed in the semis but now its pretty wide open on that half of the draw. Mathieu took Fed to 4 sets and I think Fed is pretty vulnerable but will find a way to get into the final again. Still, noones beating Nadal. The guy is amazing.
|05/19/2009 - 7:13pm||Agree with you on 6-6, 7-5||
Agree with you on 6-6, 7-5 being the realistic/acceptable expectations for this season. They are also "meh" outcomes in general. My biggest concern was keeping the 2009 recruiting class in tact following a 3-9 year which we obviously did. We won't go 3-9 again this year and I don't foresee any major recruiting roadblocks following a 6-6 year, especially coming off a 3-9 year.
Biggest game of the year? imo, the first one at home against western. We need to win that game and get off to a good start.

Ya at this point I'd rather be an 11 or 12 seed----then we wouldn't see a 1 or 2 seed until the sweet 16. I think its better to be an 11/12 than anywhere from 5-10 at this point.
By the way, it feels so good to talk about this subject. It's been too long.

|01/31/2009 - 10:05pm||Us vs. them||
If I read too much more on here, I’m gonna blow up. Seriously, I’m about to go on a rampage.
It boggles my mind how so much of the media jumps dumps on Michigan. Jay Bilas–obviously still pissed about the whole Amaker thing.
Absolutely absurd. JB needs to get control of his team? Really? We’re up 1 point on the road in a game we’re not suppose to be in squarely on the bubble—yeah like Manny Harris tried to knock Kramer out. Do people not think before they speak.
I wish I was Eric Puls. I wish I was on the team. Because I would do everything in my power to fire everyone up. This is absolutely ridiculous—we are a bulleye and its BS. I would turn this into fire and desire in that locker room.
Sheryl’s article really bothers me too—obviously Manny is saying all the right things. No doubt Novak’s call influenced what happened today. “We had two things go against us.”—I mean, I guess Manny. But shouldn’t that piss him off? Shouldn’t that light a fire in him? Shouldn’t this fire up the team.
Let’s go boys! Enough of this shit. Boy I’m fired up tonight. I realize this post didn’t make alot of sense but I’m fired up now.
And another thing—-
I live in Cleveland so I can’t go to many of the games. Those of you that can go—make sure you do everything you can to help create a home court advantage. The dance is still very do-able but we have to win at home. So jump around, scream, yell and get loud. This team deserves it and they need our help. Everyone should take it personal. Everyone should take what happened today personally. This is our team. Enough is enough.
