Lets also remember Eno Benjamin thought Michigan was his dream school and we never gave him a committable offer too.  Man imagine if we had AJ Dillon and Eno Benjamin as Soph or RS freshmen right now.

Also agree. He was huge vs OSU last year. Played his heart out. And love seeing him grind like that

07/02/2018 - 1:18pm I see this as Ohio’s version…

I see this as Ohio’s version of the DPJ recruitment. They were our biggest threat for him and pushed till the end giving all of us some anxiety but in the end we were relieved he chose the home squad. And in hindsight there wasn’t any doubt.

05/26/2018 - 6:53pm I don’t care about how many

I don’t care about how many as the distribution. If he has 5 or 6 of those against osu I’ll be happy

12/21/2017 - 7:19pm Urban is not underachieving

Urban is not underachieving yet.  His 2017 class was epic, and this years is shaping up well for them.  The next 2-3 years are what concerns us and 2018, and 19 are when those classes mature.  Next year's game should be an all out war with our 2016 peaking against their 2016/17 ones.  I expect Ohio to have a good year next year with their big year being 2018. The big thing they have going for them next year is they get us at home, which is the big thing we have going against us, and we learned just how much home-field advantage they have after last years game.

11/27/2017 - 7:38pm This will be an unpopular opinion, despite being true

I see us going into The Game 11-0 as a real possibility. However, what worries me is Ohio State's roster. JK Dobbins was their 7th!-highest rated recruit at #46 nationally. That class will all have a yar of experience under their belt too. We're in an all out war with Ohio St.  I was encouraged by how close we played them this year, but as we look at our potential to improve next year, we also have to take note of the beast they're building down South.

good call. I would to if i were reading it. just updated it with info from 247.

10/29/2017 - 5:47pm How many times here have you

How many times here have you seen people cite hokes o line recruiting plus bad luck as an explanation for our o line struggles this year? Strong recruiting provides talent and depth so unfortunate circumstances don’t have the impact like they’ve recently had. Also, maybe a 3 star hits for a 5 star that fizzles out. But we don’t seem to have much of either

10/29/2017 - 5:45pm You’re right on. Also you

You’re right on. Also you have to look at the distribution of talent. For 2018: dB recruits are great, linebackers are great, d line has potential we are in the thick of it for high level dts. Qb, good, rb we have a hole but are in with guys, o line we have just two committed and it really doesn’t seem like we have many (Any) serious targets. Wr we can afford to be thin on but are recruiting our top targets. TE were good with. So It boils down to us not having numbers in the class and also not even getting a lot of interest. I’m not star gazing here, we don’t have numbers or seemingly interest. Highly rated players would be nice, but also tenacious recruiting would be nice as well

10/29/2017 - 4:33pm It’s not him who we blame at

It’s not him who we blame at all. It doesn’t even seem like our coaches made an honest effort to keep recruiting him. He was and maybe still is set to visit for the osu game. But our in season recruiting for 2018 has really left me wondering. We’ve only had a lot ofofficial visitors for the state game, and honestly I can’t imagine that being fun for anyone there. Only 1 official visitor came yesterday (Haskins, rob out of Missouri). I’m waiting for Harbaugh to resume recruiting with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind but the 2018 class may be too far gone at this point.

10/23/2017 - 4:46pm glad this guy found the time

glad this guy found the time between marching with a tiki torch in Charlottesville, and shooting into crowds in Gainesville to get a twitter

10/22/2017 - 2:49pm My thesis is that our defense

My thesis is that our defense is good enough to cover for a developing qb. I don’t think jok would win us a game that bp would lose us. SO I’m with you

10/22/2017 - 11:25am Yea when their 2017 #1

Yea when their 2017 #1 recruiting class are all 3rd years, the 2018 one they’re putting together are 2nd years. They are a machine, we have some serious catching up to do and I hope the sense of urgency and tenacity to outcompete them is real in Schembechler hall because that’s the best shot we have

10/22/2017 - 11:05am Good point. It would make me

Good point. It would make me very happy to see us have 3-4 o line recruits per home game and pursue them relentlessly. Taking time and trusting the process only works if you continuously bring in talent. Add in that we are in a dog fight to hold onto Ekiyor erodes my optimism even more.

10/22/2017 - 10:59am Ekiyor visited bama again

Ekiyor visited bama again yesterday. I hope harbaugh is waiting for him in his living room when he gets back.

10/15/2017 - 11:14pm Lest not we forget that

Lest not we forget that Harbaugh himself struggled to get PT and considered transferring

"I remember my own career, I thought there was a time where I wasn't going to play at Michigan and was told that and called my dad," Harbaugh said today on the "Jamie and Stoney" show on WXYT-FM (97.1). "It was like deja vu reading what Wilton was saying. That happened to me my sophomore year."

Yes I know, freep. but it explains well the insanely risky gauntlet that college qbs go through to have a chance at making it.

10/14/2017 - 10:01pm the problem is the lack of

the problem is the lack of garbge time we've had this season so we can't see what Peters can do. Speight couldn't get us garbage time in September against cinci, or airforce. JOK got us 2 mins of it against Purdue. Our lack of game data makes this a huge circular argument.

10/08/2017 - 2:12pm Cincinnati, Air Force,

Cincinnati, Air Force, Purdue: I calculate 3 minutes of total garbage time. We didn't really have many chances to see what our offensive depth can do

10/08/2017 - 11:55am This is good to hear

Considering this was the biggest recruiting weekend of the season so far and will be until we play ohio

10/08/2017 - 12:47am this was a huge recruiting

this was a huge recruiting weekend for us too. Im sure the palyers we had from California and Georgia loved seeing us lay an egg in shitty weather. Oh and we havent really had many recruits on campus this year and our next big weekend will be OSU. things are swell

09/25/2017 - 3:22pm I wish that i thought i was

I wish that i thought i was delusional, but the only way I see Harbaugh leaving is to hold public office.  I don't see this as a totally non-viable scenario.

09/25/2017 - 10:35am He wont be the last this season either!

"Chase Winovich is the seventh Michigan Player to earn Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors since 2004, and the third defensive honoree (Brandon Herron, LB, Sept. 4 2011, and Jabrill Peppers, Sept. 18 2016)

01/08/2017 - 7:05am Could he have been pushed out?

Interesting, albeit unlikely thought.  0hi0 is in serious number crunching mode as they currently have 93 players on scholarship (including their commits) and the limit is 85.  Could they have urged Brown to go pro so they could free up a scholarship? I know, I know why sacrifice a bird in the hand for two in the bush, but it's a thought.

Here's the 11w breakdown of their scholarship situation,http://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football/2017/01/79009/ohio-state-has-plenty-to-shake-out-before-national-signing-day-with-its-scholarship-situation  But i'm sure urban will sneak and sleeze his way to 85 somehow leaving a trail of bitterly disapointed players behind.

01/07/2017 - 9:08am 2 years ago didn't we go

2 years ago didn't we go after a great wr coach who ended up going with Oklahoma? Was it Dennis Simmons? I remember him being a rising star and a hell of a recruiter? I also really like Vince Marrow at Kentucky but I think he's the te coach? Any thought on those guys?

01/06/2017 - 3:06am Najee, but only because I

Najee, but only because I want Jabrill to go to the NFL be successful, make his money, be a great ambassador for Michigan, and get out without any serious injuries and his faculties in tact.

Apparently Poly prep out in Brooklyn has a great coaching staff, maybe one of their coaches could come over?

I'd love to see a commercial during The Game next year of this scrolling across the screen and end with, "the Michigan difference"

Build a wall, brick, by brick, by brick

12/12/2016 - 7:15pm The game doesn't come down to

The game doesn't come down to that if we impose our running game throughout 4 quarters, get first downs, and extend drives. The running game follows the o line.

12/12/2016 - 7:12pm If I'm an elite running back

If I'm an elite running back or qb, you know what I'm looking at when I'm deciding? What sort of investment my team is putting into the o-line. Elite rbs aren't a factor against elite defenses without an o line full of bad mamma jammas. Look what bama did to fournette the past 2 years. I'm no coach but my basic philosophy in football is give your qb time and take time away from theirs.

12/07/2016 - 4:33pm Schemes and personnel groupings

I feel that it's not so much trick plays as varying formations and personnel groupings. Our defense comes to mind in how DB hid blitzes and subbed in and out linemen for different packages and allowed the players to go full steam more often. I think we see this on offense as well with our multiple TE sets and will only build on this with the more talent we have coming in. We also saw this against Ohio in that we had to game plan against where and how they lined up Samuel in order to get him mismatches. Also how our opponents would try and get talented rbs in 1on1s with our inside backers.

12/02/2016 - 8:51am Jeffrey Okudah

They are also close to landing the number 1 cb in the class, Jeffrey Okudah. And yes, some of their 5stars or high 4 stars may bust, but hey so may ours. If BB had committed to us there would be a 100 comment post and a posbang thread. They are reeling in a monster class full of talent and are the biggest threat for DPJ. We're in for a war in years to come, here's hoping our blocking and schemes are able to neutralize their talent.

10/17/2016 - 1:38pm 1) Ambry Thomas 2) what do new offers say about current recruits

1) Ambry Thomas is one of the two players I'm most excited about landing, but I don't see his name mentioned much in weekly posts, how hard are we recruiting him, visits etc and how is he trending?
2) what do our recent offers during the bye week say about how we feel about our current recruits. Saw that a few db offers and OL offers went out?
3) and yes defense, not seeing much on dl and linebackers where do we stand?

08/16/2016 - 3:35am Federer/nada/djokovic

Need to be in the conversation. Tennis is in an absolute golden era right now and when all is said and done these guys may end up being 1,2, and 3. So they belong on the list of greatest athletes ever. Nadal definitely fiercest competitor and I'd have him play for my life any day. Djokovic is something like 130-11 since 2015 and is 49-6 against the top 10 in that time span--just insane. Federer has won 17! Majors in the best era of men's tennis in history. Nadal with 14 and djokovic with 12.
