The big problem is that the school has no authority over the people in question. They can punish the players who take money, but can't do much for the bagmen. If the NCAA were to punish a school in this way, I think you would see schools talk more seriously about leaving the NCAA.
I'm sad he's still around. As much as I hate the thought of losing a coach like Tressel, his mistake is just too big to overlook. If the university is going to keep him around, I think a one year penalty and vacating 2010 is pretty reasonable. I just really hope this was a one time thing for Tressel and not a pattern that is being uncovered. It's not worth winning if your doing it the wrong way.

Even though we may hate the other team, the respect for the opponent is great. Like the dead schembechlers donating the entrance money from their shows to Bo's foundation.
Season based probabilities are poorly controlled and poor predictors. You don't have more than a sample size of at most 100. Position and time based probablities seem to control much better for the important factors.
And it still sounds like some of the cara logs are gone and can't be audited. Which still doesn't mean anything, it just looks bad. I really can't imagine this will lead to anything. It just seems like yet another distraction.
I'm a buckeye, but I really hope Minor can play. He's looked great and really adds another dimension to the offense. I bet he plays and has a good game.
Did they say that the CARA reports were created and not filed? My reading of that article was that they didn't receive any reports for a while. When they did get reports, there were no compliance problems.
