While it appears most of the posts are focusing on Harbaugh or other factors, the simple reason Michigan State won that game is they clearly had the best player on the field in Walker. He every bit looked like the best player in the country.

He lived long enough to become the villain.

I wouldn't hire Brady Hoke to be the custodian at my school...although he looks the part.

Can we please put the Wildcat to bed as a viable option?

ESPN+ had a great in depth…

ESPN+ had a great in depth article after the Wisc game about what exactly was wrong with Michigan. They didn't really place blame on Gattis, but rather the mix of what he's trying to do with what they have. They interviewed some big ten assistant coaches who were obviously anonymous. More specifically, they said the following was the main problem

  • Patterson is not good at making reads and the offense is predicated on it
  • Harbaugh doesn't want him running, which again, the offense is predicated on it
  • Their receivers, while big and athletic, don't fit the scheme which requires faster, quicker receivers.
  • The receivers just can't get open
  • Offensive line has been bad

In short, instead of really adjusting the offense to the talent, he's trying to cram the talent into the offense. It's similar to what RR did his first year when he had Threet running the zone read.

This. I had a feeling this…

This. I had a feeling this game would be a Hoke-esque unsatisfying victory. It wasn't. Any victory next week will be satisfying, but a 21pt or more domination may restore some faith in them being actually "good".

I tend to agree. The fact…

I tend to agree. The fact our wins were lackluster against Army and MTSU (who's only win was a struggle over a bad FCS team Tenn St.) is not a good sign. Rutgers, as bad as they are, would only be 8 to 10 pt dogs to Army on a neutral field and woule be favored against MTSU.

This team reminds me of a Hoke team that who's wins are unsatisfying, close games against inferior opponents and losses are potential pummelings by good teams. Michigan will win, but I could see a tie game at halftime ultimately ending in a 14 or 21 pt win.

This looked eerily similar…

This looked eerily similar to a Hoke team loss. Even the first play on offense that gained about 60 to Bell was a broken play. Follow that up with a timeout because the play clock was about to run out. Then a Patterson overthrow on sure TD, then a fumble.

This encapsulates pretty much the offense. There is no plan. The "slow huddle" no huddle offense that still snaps ball with under 5 on play clock basically just makes them look completely confused. I feel like every play, players are looking perplexed at sideline waiting for call, then they snap the ball with half the players not really knowing what the plan is. Just look completely tentative.

When you run a no-huddle the idea is you confuse the defense because of the speed/efficiancy at which you are calling plays. Instead, the defense has the advantage because they are still snapping the ball with 2 or 3 seconds on the play clock so our players are just as confused.

It is amazing to me the coaches can feel comfortable walking into the game with that plan. Behind closed doors the players have to be thinking "WTF is going on here?"

The offense is very…

The offense is very disappointing. It is nothing really different except Patterson is in the shotgun. The play calling was predictable and there is nothing innovative about it. It is the slowest, in terms of efficiency, "no-huddle" offense I've ever seen. They still let the play clock run down to 5 seconds most times.  The situation reminds me of when Nussmeier got here everyone was hoping it would open things up...and that was a disaster.

I'm hoping this can just be attributed to some delay in picking things up, but it's worrisome.

Going back and reading these…

Going back and reading these really makes you realize how insignificant most of the recruits are that everyone perseverates on each year. Shovoderick Beaver? I remember the disappointment when he decommitted.

If his name were Eddie Jones…

If his name were Eddie Jones or Eddie Smith the average fan wouldn't even know who he is. Always felt he was oddly overrated.

 I remember the hype…

I remember the hype surrounding him when he entered the program

The production of 90% of recruits never match the hype that surrounds them.

Welcome to Michigan.

Welcome to Michigan. Nevermind the absolute worst weather you've probably ever experienced.

(No subject)

His weird throwing motion

rules out he has "talent" to me. He looks like Uncle Rico when he throws.

Rawls was also only the #86

Rawls was also only the #86 ranked RB recruit (Phil Steele #) while Green was #2. Green ranks up there with Morris and Grady as biggest disappointments ever simply because of how highly he was ranked.

Never Produced

Career he had less than 300 yards from scrimmage, never scored a touchdown, and although always looked like he had potential to break a  return, he never did.

Yeah...I signed up just to post that.
