I so wish I could like this 1,000 x

02/06/2016 - 3:20pm bronx, you nailed it

"It's a school and a team that has to feel overlooked to feel relevant."  Bam.

02/04/2016 - 2:36pm Perhaps some further context for you on Swenson

I was not thrilled either when I read about the circumstances surrounding Swenson's decommit a couple of weeks ago. I immediately thought, as an alum, that this is not how I want my school's coach to treat high school kids. It looks bad and is certainly ammo for negative recruiting, just not how Michigan rolls.

However, there are always at least two sides to every story.  Your comment sounds like you don't know what has been reported about the communication between the staff and Swenson and his family.  Given the nature of the whole recruiting game on both sides, recruiter and recruitee, I highly doubt Harbaugh & Co. left Swenson in the dark until the 11th hour.

02/04/2016 - 2:22pm Actually

The question was from Angelique Chengelis, the U of M beat writer for the DetNews. She acknowledged that she'd had a lapse, was thinking only of Onwenu, and momentarily forgot about Hill and Nordin. She would never write an article or column suggesting either of those things.

11/28/2015 - 10:32pm Better dead than red.

There was less red in the stadium today than the past 3 home OSU games, but not so much less that they couldn't do their insufferable "look, we can spell a four-letter word" cheer. When that happens, I just seethe, but there's not much to do about it when our D is getting ripped to shreds.

Most blocks of red were in the south end zone, but there was an unusual block of red in the north end zone. The athletic dept sent a few reps from marketing to look into how those people got their tickets - all the OSU fans bought them from season ticket holders. That is an utter disgrace.

11/26/2015 - 9:48am She's beautiful!

Congratulations! Let the indoctrination begin.

11/26/2015 - 9:25am Funny,

Funny, I wonder why I've never seen that in a women's rest room. /s

11/22/2015 - 11:28am Apparently, you are correct

Reportedly, Cook is not well-liked on campus. When your 3-year starter, NFL prospect QB is not a team captain, that says something.

10/24/2015 - 2:27pm This ^^^ x 1000

Amen!  The MSU fanbase has always wanted to be the rival we pay most attention to. They were for decades the little brother seeking attention from the big brother, whose eyes were always turned toward Columbus or South Bend. Now they have succeeded in getting us to pay attention to them. But they have always and will always measure their success by Michigan's failure, especially in our head-to-head games. Dantonio's hate for Michigan is just an extension of the same.

Hate isn't the opposite of love; indifference is. I liked it better when we were indifferent to them. Let's get back to that.

10/22/2015 - 10:27am The first rule of Fight Club...

Agree, just better to keep it in the family.  The next headline we'll be reading is, "Beilein denies providing recruits with girls or alcohol".  I don't like the idea that he might even have to address the question.

01/25/2015 - 10:33am Kelly Lytle isn't Rob's daughter.

He's Rob's son.

01/18/2015 - 10:19pm You are a silly

You are a silly goose.

Spencer Hall is a Florida grad and if you read EDSBS, he often says "we" when referring to UF. EDSBS is thus a Florida-affiliated blog, which is what the article said.

Example: his list of "Offseason Reentry Tips"

"8. Measles/mumps booster. It's a long story, but that's the last time we go to the Independence Bowl."

11/03/2014 - 12:11pm I'm a Miss, please :) and

... and you didn't flog Everyone Murders for presuming you were a Mr.?!!  How very un-PC of you.

/s - just for good measure

01/18/2012 - 11:04pm Not true

Romney left Bain in February 1999 to run the Salt Lake City Olympics. Brandon was appointed CEO of Domino's in March 1999.

01/18/2012 - 10:55pm No politics, dude

No politics, dude.

01/18/2012 - 5:56pm Also this postgame Izzo quote from Wojo's column

"Look, nobody picked us to do anything, so there's no pressure."

What?  There are no goals or aspirations of personal excellence unless they're picked to do something? Just... what?  Tell that to the RCMB posters whose heads are in a thousand bloody pieces.

I've heard John U. Bacon's speech in his "Bo's Lasting Lessons" tour, in which he says that Izzo is cut from the same mold as Bo. I really would like to believe that, imitation being the sincerest form of flattery. I keep looking and listening for it, but I just don't see it. I've lost a lot of respect for Izzo because I think he doesn't handle losing well.

01/18/2012 - 3:17pm Work on Stabenow and Levin

For anyone who lives in western Wayne County/11th district, Rep. Thad McCotter is against it.

But it doesn't hurt to call or email and let him know you appreciate his opposition and his constitutents agree.

Work on Stabenow and Levin.

01/18/2012 - 10:28am Agreed. U2 played at Spartan

Agreed. U2 played at Spartan Stadium last summer after Michigan said no because the Regents wouldn't allow alcohol sales in Michigan Stadium. There's no way the NHL would put on an alcohol-free game, so they must be paying a premium for it.

01/17/2012 - 10:22pm All in

for the posbang! Go Blue, great win!

01/15/2012 - 5:47pm I can't believe this doesn't have its own thread yet

Since I can't start one. But does a real Michigan man do this?

01/15/2012 - 2:45pm Wrong.

Brandon was never going to offer either Harbaugh or Miles. At the time, LSU was under investigation by the NCAA for Miles' recruitment of a kid out of Sacramento, for which the NCAA found major violations last summer that cost LSU 2 scholarships and a year of probation. With Michigan being on probation, Brandon wasn't touching Miles with a 1,200 mile pole.

Brandon did his due diligence on Harbaugh too and found baggage too big to bring to Michigan. So he never offered Harbaugh either. Harbaugh made it clear that the NFL was his goal, and the 49ers obliged.

Brandon made only one offer, to our current coach. Hoke wasn't #3, he was #1.

01/15/2012 - 2:15pm It's more than etiquette, it's about NCAA regs too.

You would be wise to read and learn about the NCAA's definition of "booster" and "representative of the University of Michigan" in the Athletic Department's compliance page on the mgoblue website. If you give any money to the athletic department, you're a booster. You can't contact recruits or their families (email, phone, etc.) beyond saying hi.  Here's the link:

01/15/2012 - 12:47pm Bull. He threw Michigan under the bus.

Bull. He threw Michigan under the bus to boost his credibility with his new employer and its alumni and donors, and he did it in a public forum. Sorry, that's not what I would expect from a "Michigan man". He also wouldn't have done it if Bo were still alive, because he knew damn well that Bo would have been on the next plane to Palo Alto to kick his ass. Jamie Morris told Harbaugh to "lose my phone number."

And you're right, the story was almost ignored nationally ... almost. It was not ignored in Ann Arbor or the Detroit newspapers. Hart may have revived the story, but that wasn't the first time that anyone at Michigan had heard of it.

01/15/2012 - 12:45pm Save your prediction

Harbaugh is a helluva coach, no doubt, but he has a closet full of skeletons that Michigan wants no part of. And if Hoke is here for 10 years or longer, Jim will be in his late 50s, early 60s by then.  Presumably, he'll continue to be successful at the 49ers and will be making the kind of money Michigan could or would never pay him.

12/18/2011 - 2:04pm Stop armchair doctors

Restless legs syndrome is not just an expression, it's a real neurological condition that causes an uncontrollable need to move the legs to calm sensations of creeping, tingling or pain. How completely irresponsible for anyone here to speculate that Coach suffers from what can be a debilitating medical condition.

He was bouncing his legs, which lots of people do. His hands were in his lap, so his arms were bouncing too.

Quit the unqualified, armchair diagnoses. It is destructive.

12/13/2011 - 11:40am There is a season

Time and place. Nothing wrong with visiting where you've been but not at the Bust. The Bust is for celebrating the seniors on the team and to give them their M rings, which Desmond should know. Many of those seniors were brought to Michigan by Rodriguez, and for that, we should be grateful.

Just because 21 had a platform doesn't mean it was appropriate to use it. This wasn't the time or the place.

12/05/2011 - 10:05pm Hoke = classy

Headline redundant.

11/28/2011 - 1:39pm No luck on that play

Hemingway was the intended receiver.  Koger saw something in the coverage and changed his route.

11/28/2011 - 1:28pm MA, NTSH

double post

11/28/2011 - 1:23pm You mean Herbie the Buckeye?

Herbstreit is a Buckeye, and also an ESPN colleague of Meyer. Of course he's going to hype Meyer.  Funny how he broke the Miles to Michigan story in 2007, but uttered nary a peep about Meyer to OSU.

I think Meyer's immediate success will depend on whether the NCAA has any credibility left whatsoever. IME, it has none since it took the failure to monitor off the table.  If the NCAA has any cojones and spanks OSU for its casual, I-dare-you-NCAA attitude, which it should, then Meyer's recruiting might be handicapped for a couple of years. Time will tell.

11/28/2011 - 1:11pm You don't remember it

but Martin lined up several times on the end of the line and drop into coverage. I noticed it on OSU's last two drives in the 4th.

11/28/2011 - 1:03pm Cupboard bare? Cupboard emptied.

I hate falling back into this argument, but if you read Three and Out, you should understand that Lloyd didn't just leave a bare cupboard, he helped empty the cupboard. He told Ryan Mallett to leave, he told Justin Boren to leave, he told all of his players after Rich was hired that he would sign transfer papers for anyone who asked.

Lloyd never supported Rich, either publically or privately. He let players come to his office and vent about Rich. Unlike Bump Elliott, who told his players to quit whining and not to come to him with their complaints when Bo was hired.  When asked in interviews, Lloyd never said "I support Rich Rodriguez", he said "I support the program".  That was not true anyway. He did nothing to quiet the dissent. Thank goodness Brandon made him "retire" when he was helping another DI school find a head football coach while on Michigan's payroll.

So when Rich said the talent wasn't what he expected, he was right. He lost at least two offensive starters who would have made a huge difference in 2008.

11/27/2011 - 4:07pm Wasted energy

Not the OP's point, but what this thread has devolved into is nothing but wasted energy arguing over the same points that have been hashed and rehashed ad nauseam.  I wanted Rich Rodriguez to succeed, but the fact is, he didn't, at least not enough to keep his job. He did leave behind a bunch of great kids, some who he recruited and a few that Carr did who didn't bolt after Carr retired. To his credit, Rod told every player to a man to stay and play for Michigan.

Regardless of who is to blame for all the BS that RR had to deal with, and there's plenty to go around, he didn't win enough games in a short enough period of time to persuade the athletic director that keeping him would be in the best interest of Michigan football.

We now have a head coach who loves Michigan in his soul, not because he took a job, but because he knows how special Michigan is.  So let's leave the Rodriguez era to Michigan football history and look forward with hope that the Brady Hoke era will rival that of the Schembechler era in success and duration.

11/26/2011 - 11:23pm There it is!

Aahhhhh. That's what this feels like. I'd almost forgotten. Congratulations to Team 132 and their senior leaders for a great victory at home and thank you for restoring the natural order.

11/26/2011 - 10:53pm A new little Wolverine to

A new little Wolverine to indoctrinate, nice! Congrats! He's beautiful.

11/23/2011 - 9:44am Nice, Forever

Thanks! Vote early, vote often!

section 38 - that's ok, let's give him all the help we can.

11/23/2011 - 9:41am Are you a Buckeye Troll?

Judging by your avatar, you're not, but why would you post a link to a video that is clearly slanted to OSU and says, "F*** Michigan" at the end?

11/23/2011 - 9:26am Vote for Kovacs

Don't mean to threadjack, but since I got stripped of 1000 points, can't post myself. Jordan Kovacs is a semi-finalist for the Burlsworth Trophy, awarded to the most outstanding player who started his career as a walk-on. You can vote once a day from the same computer.

11/20/2011 - 1:46pm Too much red two years ago

The amount of red in the stadium two years ago and those -uckeye fans doing their cheer in our House was a disgrace. We cannot have a repeat of that scene. But Nebraska didn't have a showing anything like that. Ohio will have a lot of fans there, but we do have to try to keep them out. The most disappointing thing to me was seeing red in the student section.

11/20/2011 - 12:21pm Denard was comfortable

Denard was comfortable because he got into a rhythm that wasn't interrupted halfway into the first quarter.

11/13/2011 - 12:34pm You missed the point

No one is gritting their teeth through an 8-2 season. The teeth gritting was disappointment at RR's firing and RR's opponents getting their way, but recognizing that the important thing for the team was not to let that cloud our support for Michigan's coach. We supported RR because he was Michigan's coach, not the other way around. His detractors couldn't bring themselves to do that even at 5-0. They enjoyed the wins, but could never give credit or support to the coach.

11/12/2011 - 9:09pm Not just a different email address

You have to vote from a different computer each time, too.

11/11/2011 - 10:31pm Because Gary Schultz was a

Because Gary Schultz was a vice-president of finance and business with oversight of the university police. I can't be certain, but that usually means some sort of audit responsibility, make sure the police department is operating properly, reporting its operations properly and accounting for its budget. Schultz wasn't the director/chief of police and had no day-to-day law enforcement responsibilities.

11/06/2011 - 12:39pm That's right

Denard doesn't throw well on the move.

11/06/2011 - 12:29pm Dude

/s = "end sarcasm" = Roundtree not a problem, there were at least 2 missed pass interference calls on him today where the defender had a hold of him and prevented him from stretching out his arms to make the catch.

11/06/2011 - 1:10am Not so bad

if they were Twin City socks...

11/05/2011 - 4:19pm A question I've asked myself all season

How does the 2010 B1G OPY need to "learn how to pass?" Is this a problem with changing philosophies, trying to turn Denard into a pocket passer, or does his QB coach suck? Look at the strides Denard made with Rod Smith from year one to year two, and look at the regression this year from where he was last year. Is this a system thing?

And hell yes, scrap the platooning or whatever the frick it's called of Denard and Devin. Every game since Minnesota, Denard hardly has a chance to get into a rhythm when they bring Gardner in. Gardner will be fine when he's the #1 QB, but fergodssakes, let Denard do what Denard does!

I keep trying to remind myself this is a transition year, but it's not getting easier.

11/05/2011 - 4:10pm I said this on the LiveBlog

Rich Rod was right. "How do you stop Denard?" "Put him under center."
