Federal spending is much, much more than revenue. Medicare, Medicaid are a huge portion of "non discretionary" spending set to increase as the baby boomers retire. Fun times.
Deductions reduce taxable income. if you itemize you essentially get a rebate of whatever bracket you're in at the top marginal rate. I'm somewhat simplifying since the are limitations. credits are better because they just essentially add a dollar to whatever refund you'll receive regardless if you itemize or not which most lower income people do not. sign me up for some credits!
I graduated from Texas for grad school. Went to the Baylor game. Stadium experience is the exact opposite of Michigan. Game takes five plus hours and nobody shows up. Michigan fans have it pretty good. Although you can buy beer in Texas's stadium.

Been working really hard on my golf game. Down to a 2.6. Playing in a tournament called the "impossible open" this weekend. Partnered up with another one of my coach's students. We're going to try to win the NCGA mid amateur four ball this October in Pebble Beach. We probably won't but the chase is fun.

Agree with you. Their segments are usually right to ten minutes with both a national ad like Flo, who I now hate, and then Sam talking about lawn mowers for two minutes. I just skip them as fast as I can but I agree it is annoying.
