I'd be tempted to put OL Dan Gibbs on that list as a guy that could get offered if we strike out with Garnett, Kozan and Diamond.

For TE, I think McNamara and Brown are pretty much off the board. If we lose out on Grant, J.P Holtz is probably the next guy to get on campus for a visit.

The ideal situation would be landing Garnett, Grant and Reeves, and then taking Yuri Wright in February as the 'best player available' option. (You could swap Reeves and Wright around, but if PSU hires a coach soon, Reeves' decision will likely come first).

Dee Hart

The rollercoaster ride that was Dee Hart had a pretty disappointing ending. After being the early favorites, then out of it, then to having him commit, only to see him bolt for Alabama, that was pretty hard to take. Perhaps moreso because at the time we badly needed a RB like him for the RR spread, and he could have been a real impact freshman. Of course now his recruitment doesn't seem like a big loss because we need bigger RBs, and we won 10 games this year without him....

Personally...

I didn't consider him a stud recruit, to me, that's a five star guy. Zettel was a good prospect, it only seemed like a great loss because he was an in-state guy who we appeared to be 'in' on. Wind back the clocks a year, and we were desperate to keep hold of any in state talent, which is why Zettel to Penn St hurt at the time. Fortunately now we are in a better position, and currently own in state recruiting.

hmmm

Whilst I consider most of the commenters on my blog to be highly knowledgable people...I doubt there is much going on here. Michigan is full at DE unless Mario Edwards or Noah Spence randomly come calling. When you have this few spaces left in a class you only take positions of need or absolute studs, unfortunately Zettel does not fill either of these requirements, plus there would be the issue of him transferring within the Big10.

Not Midlands...

I go to university in Bath, I'll be in the campus library (for high internet speed!!) watching it on ESPN player. go blue!!!

Questionable

On a global scale, Barcelona vs Real Madrid is probably much bigger than Michigan-Ohio State. Here in England, I'm probably one of only a handful of people who will care about next week's game, whereas Barca vs Real is watched all over the world by pretty much anyone who loves "soccer".

But if you're talking about just American sports, or how just  the American population views the rivalry, then Michigan-Ohio State is number one.

Regarding Grant

People's view of Avram Grant is way too harsh. Think how easy it is to score a penalty kick. Well if John Terry had managed to do it, we'd all be hailing Grant as a great manager, and one who gave Chelsea something that even Jose Mourinho couldn't manage, a CL title.

He was set up to fail at Portsmouth with their financial troubles, and although he sucked at West Ham, I still think he was good for Chelsea. Even if he inherited a good team, it still takes a lot to bring them that close to the biggest club competition in the world.

Really?

I used to believe in Arsene Wenger's tactics, but then when he brings on Nickolas Bendtner I really have to doubt him! Arsenal's refusal to pay money to sign a decent striker (and goalkeeper) has cost them the league many times.

Chelsea are stupid...

Being English, I've obviously followed the EPL for a very long time, and this firing is just another verse in the terrible leadership of Roman Abramovhic. Ancellotti is a great manager who's won multiple Champions League titles (the trophy Chelsea seeks the most) at Milan along with many other trophies. And yet they fire him because he went one year without a trophy?

This is almost as bad as when they fired Avram Grant, who, whilst he isn't the greatest manager, was one penalty kick away from winning the Champions League.

Note: John Terry missed a penalty to win the CL in 2008 vs Man utd

It was also Abramovich who fired Ray Wilkins, a great coach at Chelsea who basically told Abramovich that his plan to buy Torres was a load of crap and wouldn't work. After they fired Wilkins, the team went on a streak that basically cost them the league this season, and they went on to buy Fernando Torres for £50MILLION!!!! He scored 1 goal....in like 15 games.

Conclusion: Chelsea are stupid.

Wow

Congrats to Jonas, but I literally couldn't believe it when I heard his name announced

Yep.

oops, double post

Yep.

Diamond is still very high on Michigan even after RR was let go, so the commitment of Bryant can only help matters further. Diamond is already a top100 player on scout, so he could be a great pickup next year.

General View

The general opinion is that McClure is deciding between UCLA and Cal (distance factor). Michigan still has a chance, especially with Hoke going for an in-home visit on Monday; but the Cal schools are the probable leaders right now.

Not having a DB coach probably hurts his recruitment too, as that's who Stefan would be spending most of his time with.

Agree

I think with Stonum and Hemingway leaving next year, we need one outside receiver in the the class, and Flowers seemed to be a good option for that.

Flowers Update

Word is that Michigan has pulled out of the race to sign Hakeem Flowers, so don't get your hopes up tomorrow. Hoke probably doesn't want to take a WR in the 6 remaining spaces.

Earlier TomVH said he wasn't hopeful for Flowers' announcement, this is why!!

really

Would you really want to take seven DB's in this class? I know our secondary sucks, but that's way too many imo

Frank Clark

I'd take Frank Clark in the six, mainly because he can play LB or TE, both of which could be argued as positions of need

My thoughts exactly. The

My thoughts exactly. The surprise will be him telling everyone he's eligible for a Michigan offer

He's committed to Michigan

He's committed to Michigan the program. He's insisted the last couple of weeks that he's still solid, he's just waiting for a DC to be named; thats it. Sure he's visiting Miami, but that's just a precaution for....

Unless they bring in a DC who pulls his offer (unlikely), Kellen Jones is going to Michigan.

Jones still describes himself

Jones still describes himself as a solid commit; once a DC is named and he talks to each member of the new staff, he'll lock down his recruitment. Don't be worried at all about Kellen Jones.

I'd bet my life that Kellen

I'd bet my life that Kellen Jones ends up in Michigan's class.

New leader

I know he loved his recent visit to UCLA, and he's close with Brett Hundley, so I'd guess them, your thoughts?

Im....

a humble blogger with random recruiting insights here and there, links below.

FWIW, Hoke has been in

FWIW, Hoke has been in contact with Frost, trying to set up an unofficial before signing day

Lucien Update

Devin Lucien isn't really that high on Michigan now.

He's deciding between Michigan and Miami for his final visit, and he's pretty sure it's going to be Miami; he was upset that Chris Singletary was the only one to get in contact; not Brady Hoke.

don't get your hopes up

don't get your hopes up there, he had a choice between Michigan (the school) and Stanford (the school), and we know how that turned out.

Blake's dad

I've heard his dad mention at least twice that he wants to make sure Blake is right for the new defensive scheme. I agree that it shouldn't make much difference to a CB, but I guess they just want to be certain that he'll fit in.

He told Auburn he was

He told Auburn he was going to pick Michigan, so they gave up and allocated his scholarship elsewhere. Then RR got fired and he switches back to Auburn, which catches the Tigers off guard. *They told him before he committed that they might not have room*

Hoke HAS been in contact with Frost, and there's a chance he'll visit Ann Arbor unofficially to meet with Hoke. If this happens, I think Frost will pick Michigan on signing day or just before. If the visit doesn't happen, then it all just depends on whether Auburn finds room.

Countess will go blue

Countess is purely waiting for a DC to be hired, and then he wants to hear that Michigan still wants him and that he'll fit in the system. If Brady Hoke/new DC tells him this, he'll re-affirm his commitment.

yeh

Greg Brown is Michigan's early enrollee

This is good?

I wouldn't be overly worried about Pitt. Michigan is still his leader even with the coaching change, so if he gets on well with Coach Hoke on his return trip, then expect Bryant to commit to Michigan later in the month

slim

Given that he's probably never heard of Brady Hoke, I'd say our chances with him are pretty darn slim. He wants to stay in the south.

Crawford Decommitting

He decommitted BEFORE Hoke was hired. But then Michigan was still a finalist.

Now he's dropped Michigan completely.

Tabb gone

Well Tabb has dropped us too. If I were Brady Hoke I'd be going after Frank Clark for Tight End and then whilst he's in Glenville, make a play for Cardale Jones, as we really need a QB in this class.

Let's go Baltimore!!!

Let's go Baltimore!!!

Agree

Not excusing what the fan did, because he took it a too far, but Crawford is a smart kid, he should know that he shouldn't be saying things like that about a future teammate. I'm sure he's frustrated about not going to an AA game, but he should just be happy for Blake; who is a talented player too.

Woolfolk at FS

If the young corners continue to progress, won't they consider putting Troy Woolfolk back at FS? He's started around six games at safety for us, and in theory he has the speed and tackling ability required at the position? I'd feel a lot more comfortable with a 5th year senior back there; no offence to MRob.

Ed Reed

We need a Free Safety, someone who reads the game and has that ballhawking ability, no one does that better than Ed Reed.

Err Hi. Good to be here

Thanks to the guy who linked my blog, glad you liked the post.

I'm pretty darn sure that Michigan has stopped recruiting Cyrus Hobbi, just unsure of the reason why. Most likely option would be that he dropped us, due to the uncertainty surrounding the program.

Ricardo Miller is pretty big now, going over 220lbs. The idea is to play him in a TE/Slot position to create mismatches on the field.

With the Safety position, Lyons is more comfortable closer to the LOS, where Sheldon Royster is the opposite, he's the true deep safety (however reviews say that he needs some tuning -i.e not a impact freshman). Fortunately word out of practice is that Marvin Robinson is performing well at FS. Win!

You can question my information all you want, but my site is a blog, I say what I hear. And I listen to pretty good people.

Thanks. Go blue.
