I think this is a great…

I think this is a great comment - the assumption is that the offense will absolutely be maintained as is without any new wrinkles or simplifications to account for new QBs or schemes.

It always felt like there was much much more emphasis on ball control than creativity - there is an option to both maintain a strong run identity while making the passing game much more simplistic to follow.  Even last year, it just felt like Michigan often abandoned play action passing, didnt seem to really take as much advantage of JJ with roll-outs as they could have, etc.

I think if you put Orji into situations where he can have more simple reads - use RPOs, play action, and roll-outs where you put defenders in conflict, but let the game come to him more, then it would play to his strengths.

Everyone is also freaking out about spring ball where most of the offensive starters are gone and playing against what should be a Top 5 defense that is LOADED ++ in the front seven with likely 3 guys who are first round players and likely 2 top 5 players being unleashed on a new line and new QBs.

There is not a JJ on the roster - does not mean that it auto-equates to Iowa.

QB was always going to be…

QB was always going to be interesting this spring - having a new QB, new line and receivers - it would be highly disappointing to hear that the defense was having any troubles with the offense.

The D is the strength of the team this year, the O needs to be competent and capable, but they are not going to face a better (or close) line than they do in practice, at least not until at least OSU and the playoffs.

The O will need to figure some things out - which is expected and should not raise a bunch of needless concern facing the other side at the moment.  If it is still that abjectly poor in the fall - that is another issue.

I am pretty sure I either…

I am pretty sure I either had a stroke or OP did...

I would say the bigger…

I would say the bigger concern, in my opinion, is the fact he has been out of college coaching for 20 yrs.  One of Harbaugh's challenges early on appeared to be a number of really seasoned coaches with NFL experience that didn't want to recruit and I am guessing didn't really connect as well with the players as this younger staff did the last few years.

Hopefully they don't trend back towards the NFL ranks across the board as that seems to be a fairly consistent challenge for many of them - they don't want to run across the country recruiting HS kids and never getting any downtime.  MacDonald didnt want to recruit if everyone remembers and he was in his early 30s when he was at Michigan....so add 30 yrs and see if that fire is there.

The Xs and Os I would think would be fine - but do not necessarily like the aging disconnection.

My money would be on the…

My money would be on the Deion making some kind of Showtime statement after moving Toney's stuff - and not expecting the local kid to do anything about it - guess that didnt work out well.

Will be an interesting…

Will be an interesting transition - but injecting some youth and fire into the coaching ranks is honestly a great thing to see.

OSU is definitely jumping even further into the - we can out SEC the SEC - with NIL inducements to recruit and tamper with players try to right the ship in Columbus, so getting the coaching selections right is a critical step now.

Harbaugh, for all of the…

Harbaugh, for all of the presser quirks, does an absolutely great job of never speaking poorly about any team members and always focusing on a positive in any interview I have ever seen.

Would honestly think that…

Would honestly think that trying Orji at a running back spot would be really interesting too - a duo of Mullins and Orji I think would be scary - both are slippery but run with bad intentions with some significant size.

Kid is a freshman - think…

Kid is a freshman - think that play caused some yips the rest of the way and he is going to be a hell of a player as he moves forward.  He is a hyper competitive player and tough as hell for his size - should be celebrating having him on the team!

The level of criticism that is sent towards college kids is at times a bit over the top - players make mistakes, but seeing fans go after them (most who were never athletes, and certainly not at this level) is absurd.

Thaw's statement that he can never forgive himself and transferring schools isn't isolated - its a game, use the message boards to vent during the game if you need to - but some times you gotta let it go.

I would use this for…

I would use this for recruiting - specifically the best development, the best culture and the best D line in the nation.
