Did not realize how many options were out there with “Creed” so just to clarify, the band.

05/15/2018 - 12:20pm So I'm in the market for a

So I'm in the market for a new car and have been looking at options for about 6 months. My only real request is a compact/smaller SUV as I need the addtional space with 2 kids but don't like driving the larger SUVs.

My gripe is that they all suck. They all look the same. Which would be fine if that consistent appearance didn't suck. They all have this curved, modern look which just isn't my cup of tea.

My first car was a 2001 Jeep Cherokee and honestly if I could find one of those repurposed with today's technology I would overspend just to get it.

03/05/2018 - 9:48pm 3-4?

Can someone with more technical football knowledge than I have explain how Hurst would translate in a 3-4? From my pedestrian understanding DT's in a 3-4 are typically more of the space-eating, run-stuffer type a la just curious if he's a fit in a 3-4?

Asking as  Giants fan who now sees an opportunity for him to fall to the early 2nd RD and the Gmen's new DC seems to favor the 3-4.

01/09/2018 - 12:32pm Re: Pep Hamilton

Didn't know where else to drop this and it's by no means thread worthy but Pep's name is getting a lot of talk as a possible offensive assistant if Steve Wilks (Panthers DC) gets a head coaching gig.

Just internet rumors, but since there had been a lot of talk about him possibly landing an NFL gig on here in the past I figured it was worth a mention.

01/04/2018 - 11:55am My completely amateur

My completely amateur observations...

  • Strong arm - this is the first thing that popped off the screen and kind of surprised me
  • Accurate on the move
  • Keeps his head downfield when things break down
  • Seems to scramble to extend the play, not just take off an run
  • Varied his touch on the ball when needed
  • Didn't always hit a guy in the hands but put it where they could get it
  • Will be great to watch some of the deep throws connect like those

After this year one of my biggest concerns is the ability to read a defense and go through progressions. I don't think I really saw much of that in this film. It seemed like he either saw his number 1 target and launched or began improvising. His success will all depend on his ability to comprehend the Harbaughffense mentally.

12/23/2017 - 7:21pm This should be required

This should be required reading for everyone complaining about a 8/9 win Harbaugh season.

12/15/2017 - 5:26pm Well that I agree with. I

Well that I agree with. I live in the Baltimore area and there are a lot of PSU fans around. I drove past a car the other day with a “JOEPA” license plate which I found to be extremely distasteful and was shocked that even existed.

I view that more on the individual than the institution but if the institution either fosters that mindset or is primarily made up of individuals with that mindset than I completely agree.

12/15/2017 - 4:53pm I don’t understand this

I don’t understand this generalized labeling of an entire institution based on the actions of individuals who have been removed from the situation. I’m considering online education for a masters degree and the PSU program is on my list and what happened doesn’t remotely impact my decision. It’s still a very well respected school.

12/03/2017 - 12:47am They don't have two top ten

They don't have two top ten wins let alone two top 5 wins. Both Bama and OSU have two wins against top 25 teams and bama didn't get blown out by an unranked opponent.

11/10/2017 - 10:10pm Does the announcing team

Does the announcing team really impact your viewing experience that much? I'm not asking to be snarky - I just cannot remember a game where I finished watching and thought about the announcing team (whether good or bad).

10/16/2017 - 2:34pm I'm not in Brian's head or

I'm not in Brian's head or anything but I think the point is that it can't get worse than what we saw Saturday and it's not completely out of the realm of possibility that Peters is a better game player than practice player...but you don't know that until he plays.

This year alone you can look at UGA and UA for examples of backups who have been given a shot and have severely out performed the starter. Last year it was Darnold. It does happen.

I tend to side with the "trust the coaches" thought process more often than not but as the article mentions, if we're going to maximize the run game moving forward to protect the QB it might be time to roll with the first with the higher ceiling.

10/09/2017 - 9:11am I said it in a thread

I said it in a thread yesterday and I'll say it again...there are too many cooks in the kitchen with the offensive gameplan. It seems like JH, drevno, and pep all have a say and you're left with some inconsistent hodge podge of an gameplan that is highlighting the weaknesses on O (youth/inexperience) rather than masking it.

10/08/2017 - 11:24am Have they ever clearly stated

Have they ever clearly stated who calls plays? I remember JH usually gives some coach speak about everyone has a say...perhaps that's the problem.

You have three OC-level influencers with Harbaugh, Drevno, and Pep. Maybe there are just too many cooks in the kitchen and it's keeping this offense from creating a consistent identity.

Has anyone on here cut cable? How do you watch sporting events like Michigan football, college football in general, NHL, and NFL?

12/08/2016 - 9:09am I think this is a pretty

I think this is a pretty solid hire for both of them. Houston has a history of having effective, innovative offensive minds as their HC that go on to get opportunities at P5 schools if successful (Briles, Sumlin, Herman).

Anyone ever notice how coaches who fail in college rarely get second chances at the same level but NFL coaches routinely get them, and some come out better for it (Belichek, Coughlin, Carroll)?

12/08/2016 - 9:02am I had the same thought

I had the same thought initially, but I think they were pointing out that Ty was fired with a better overall win pct. while Kelly was extended with a worse one.

This isn't going to be a popular opinion but this call was not nearly as egregious as Harbaugh made it seem.

At first glance...these are very clean.

I actually don't mind the number change, even in the 4. It's different, but not drastic and still looks traditional and clean, not too flashy.

03/03/2016 - 9:49pm Things comes off as petty.

Things comes off as petty. Smart took a shot at the whole trip to FL by insinuating some shady stuff was going on...I have no problem with Harbaugh firing back at that. But lunch tweets seemed pretty innocent to me and to call out Butch who was just piggy backing off of Bielma and MD just seems like going after low hanging fruit.

Doesn't really change my opinion of Harbaugh, I'm extactic he's the coach and applaud 99% of the things he is doing to push the envelope. Just didn't care much for this particular response...but like I said, Harbaugh don't care (nor should he).

03/03/2016 - 7:40pm I don't know...this might not

I don't know...this might not be a popular stance but I'm not a huge fan of this one (not that Harbaugh cares or anything). I didn't really think the lunch tweets were negative towards UM so it just kind of comes across as an overreaction on Harbaugh's part.

02/23/2016 - 4:57pm Not to come on here and hawk

Not to come on here and hawk my own agenda - but I have a signed Desmond Howard and Woodson jersey I've been meaning to part ways with. I recently moved and forfeited the "man cave" to the kids so I have a bunch of stuff just sitting in a box in my garage. If anyone is interested in purchasing let me know.

And if this sort of thing is not cool I apologize, just seemed fitting with the rest of the thread.

Yeah...apparently it's not the first time the AD has promised something and not followed through.

12/04/2015 - 5:24pm I think it's worth noting

I think it's worth noting that one of the criteria the UMD AD laid out for a new coach was (I'm paraphrasing) "we'll have a fun, exciting offense!" - it's actually one of the reasons this hire has been met with some angst in the area.

It could be that this was a stipulation or part of the initial discussion. I'm just speculating.

12/01/2015 - 10:19pm Not to highjack the

Not to highjack the thread...but if I'm Dan Mullen, I actually think the MD job would be a pretty good jump forward from Miss St.

The in-state and surrounding recruiting is comparable, especially when you consider competition and while people say MD is a black hole because of in-division competition, it might be worse in the SEC west.

It's actually a pretty good fit IMO.

11/21/2015 - 7:45pm Does it have to be a B1G

Does it have to be a B1G team? The new playoff structure confused me.

11/21/2015 - 7:36pm I've been keeping an eye on

I've been keeping an eye on this as I'm already going to be at the Rose Bowl for an unrelated reason.

My thought all along is that if UM made it to the B1G champ game they'd go to the rose regardless because they would either be a 2 loss champ which I don't see making the payoff or they loose to Iowa and be runner up.

However, after today, I wonder what would happen if UM beats OSU, MSU goes on to obliterate Iowa...would the Rose bowl take a 2 loss UM over Iowa?

Navy pants no would look so clean.

10/13/2015 - 1:20pm It has surprised me a little

It has surprised me a little bit how much the UMD fan base is buying into this idea of being Oregon-east. Living down here in the Baltimore area and being surrounded by Terps and that flag I can say there is definitely some optimism about MD football if Plank gets involved financially.

I do think MD has some intangibles that could breed success since there is good football talent around here. But regardless it's going to come down to coaching and who is hired. They can throw money around if they like but most importantly they need to build a program and an identity.

06/19/2015 - 9:04pm Bells brewery

I've been waiting all week for this thread. After years of reading these threads and hearing about Bells beer I was ecstatic to find out that it was coming to MD and so far it has not disappointed.

I sampled two hearted at my liquor store and took home a 6 of Oberon and Amber ale. Delicious. Smooth too. I'm so pumped to have a go-to brew for every Michigan football game.

Any other Bells favorites? What do they role out with in the fall and winter?

The arrival of Bells has been pretty big around here this week, heavily advertised at stores and they sponsored a block party/tap takeover thing outside of my office.

05/12/2015 - 9:38pm Here's a solution with a

Here's a solution with a Michigan Football story...

So when I was 10 I was fortunate enough to be able to go out to Pasadena for the '97 Rose Bowl. After eating dinner at Wolf Gang Puck, I woke up on gameday with a stomach bug that had me puking up Four Seasons pancakes.

Regardless, we ventured to the Rose Bowl to take in the pre-game festivities. After a while the stomach thing got worse and I had to lie down. My dad, who was always full of weird solutions to things, went around to tailgaters to get two cups and some Coke. Apparently the first tailgate he found with Coke made him proove his allegiance to the Wolverines before helping him out - luckily he succeeded. You pour the coke back and forth until its flat and drink it flat (its the syrup I think).

By the time kick-off rolled around I was good to go...short story long, flat coke works.

I had Opus wine at a Christmas dinner a couple years ago which goes for like $250 a bottle and I can honestly say I prefer Yellowtail which is like $12 for a double-bottle. The Opus wine was almost too smooth, it had no flavor.
