I haven’t been able to watch this team. Too frustrating. Such a letdown after watching a great season of football. Hoping for some transfer portal success heading into next season.
I thought during the race they announced it was the hottest ever, but watched Indy TV this morning and they said it tied for second. It was hot and I'm glad I sat under cover! My 44th in a row. Can't wait for the 103rd running!
I could not agree more. I'm sure the AD and coaches would love to see the stands full, but the ones it really hurts are the players. Anyone who has played any type of sport at any level knows that having an enthusiastic crowd provides an emotional lift.
We should be filling the stadium early on Saturday night and cheering on the players. If we want to have any type chant against the administration go for it, but get behind the players. Little of this is their fault.
Sitting in Copenhagen Denmark, I was almost glad that the game would start at 1:12 a.m. so I had a good excuse not to watch (or listen) it. Then I read on facebook where other Michigan athletes and coaches sent the team off to Rutgers and I felt good for the team. So today I wore my M hat all around Copenhagen and will at least listen to the game. There have been few games I have missed over the past 40+ years and I'm not going to deliberately start now!
One other thing that crossed my mind when reading the facebook posting. Instead of boycotting games or wearing red, maybe we should figure out a way to fill the stadium when the team comes out to warm up and show our support for them. I think enough messages have been sent to the powers that be so whatever is going to happen with coaches and administrators will happen, good or bad. We need to show the team we support them!
I think MSU would be the class of the conference today, but I believe Michigan and Ohio State have more improvement potential (emphasis on potential). If both of those teams can improve then later in the season it becomes a lot closer. If they do not then MSU probably cake walks, but if the other two progress forward it could be anyones to take come late October and November.
Growing up 5 miles from ND last night was misery, but I'm trying to keep things in perspective.
Our chances before yesterday of national elitism (playoffs) were next to zero. Now they are zero. No difference in reality.
We have five winnable games ahead of us, which could provide significant experience and momentum. We will have to execute better than last night, but week to week improvement means we have a very good chance of being 6 - 1.
The coaches are the coaches. Last week seemed to be one where the team showed improvement, although against a lesser opponent. Yesterday, ND played a good game, especially in the first half, and we just seemed to never get things going. Credit some of that to ND, but also it seemed like the players were just off a little last night. Hopefully we will see some tweaks this week, which means someone is paying attention to reality.
Overall ND is insignificant to us anymore. I can't imagine one game is going to turn the tide in recruiting. The Big Ten is not invincible if you look at each game through the first two weeks of the season. We have as good a chance as anybody if we can make week to week improvement and put this game behind us.
