I was once a Balas fan. After this season he’s been wrong so much I’ve moved on. Even today is article on Herbert leaving it looked like he completely stole all the info from Josh at Rivals.
Which one of you would actually turn down triple your salary? Come on. He gone. And as other posters pointed out it actually builds his resume enough to take our DC job when it comes open provided he has some success at Ole Miss
I subscribe to both sites and find them both valuable for different reasons. As most know Sam has a lot of access to the program but that comes at some cost. There are clearly times where he’s being used as a propaganda piece for the program. So there are times when you need to keep that in mind. I don’t mind it because he gets good info for it. Sam gets good info on recruits and is fun to follow when recruiting gets going.
Rivals has figured out how to build a better community. They don’t shut down every discussion immediately like you will find that happens at 247 which is the reason for this post. I love the fact that I can get into discussions on various Michigan related topics very easily at Rivals. For whatever reason it’s hard for that to happen at 247. I appreciate Brandon Brown as he has worked hard over the years and has clearly gotten himself more access his info is legit. Recently he’s even beaten 247 to the punch on some recruiting stuff.
As far as non recruiting related stuff rivals has a deeper insider pool than 247. Sam tries to control the flow of info for all that stuff which I have no problem with as not controlling it can lead to fake insiders. But I appreciate hearing from folks that are members on the rivals site that clearly have access. 247 has all but eliminated those folks.
Basketball wise they are about equal. Umhoops runs them both out of the gym with content and is a great subscribe for basketball stuff. I will say Balas was ahead of Webb on basketball on info under Beilein so we will see how things change with a new staff.
My pastime is following Michigan sports so for a couple hundred dollars a year I don’t mind subscribing to paysites for all the reasons above. I love mgoblog as well especially the UFR and support this blog by purchasing swag and the preview mag.
You hit the nail on the head my friend. Let’s all be honest, they spent billions on getting the rights to these movies. They are going to get their money back 10 fold.
This is Smart on Disneys part. They get all the movie liscenses they need and they go regional ok sports. I think the Sports business is going more regional and ESPN will need that to succeed.
I think Newsome will give it a go in the Spring and Fall camps based on what I’m reading. Probably won’t know definitively until opening day next fall.

Is Dean Pees from Ravens. John will need to make a move after this season, Jim wants coordinators with NFL experience for recruiting purposes and most people want to work for Jim right now. I have a hard time seeing us get someone with no Harbaugh ties. If he can't nab an NFL guy he will just promote Jackson over anyone else on the list in the college ranks.
What specifically was able to help Will Hagerup? I know you mentioned he got help through the counseling center and sounds like some AD staff. Could you go into more detail about how they helped him? Describe a bit what the counseling center is.
Did Brandon want Hoke to sit Gardner for Morris before Minnesota game? You seemed to imply that strongly.
It seemed to me with all the hand holding Brandon had with Hoke that he really didn't get a fair shake to lead his teams. Do you think with a leader like Hackett he truly could've succeeded? (I believe after reading your book Hackett was right when he said he wished he could've lead Hoke sooner) Also, do you think Hoke is smarter than many give him credit and kinda played up the lovable dumb teddy bear image that it seemed Brandon tried to create? (It takes some strong leadership to go to Bosch oops I mean Burger the way he did) In that Morris presser Hoke did a good job of making Brandon look pretty bad in all of this too, to me he was no dummy there.
Do you think Brandon could benefit from the same counseling Hagerup did? Sounds like he has some major daddy issues and his drug of choice is money, power, fame, cuffs, and houses named after him.

in the right direction. There were a lot of improvements. And despite our terrible QB play we were moving the ball. I think we are gonna see some nice moments this season.
I'm not a student anymore and $295 would even cause me pause to think about for a student that's a lot of expendable income. I don't need to go to all the games. I can just pick one or two that I really want to attend and probably save $. The rest of the games I can watch in my favorite sports bar with my closest friends or in my case on my HDTV with BOSE surround sound.
Obviously the product on the field affects things but you are also competing with all the other venues to watch games. Brandon should think about upgrading the facility even more to create an environment that can compete. My guess is that this is the case across college football, my assumption based on the fact the NFL is dealing with this same issue.

Love the fact that we are landing recruits in areas of need and dominating the state of michigan. It seems if we can just get guys on campus they will commit to us.
