06/21/2018 - 9:56am You rang?

You rang?

06/21/2018 - 9:47am He was #2 in carries among…

He was #2 in carries among running backs but he was #3 in yards per carry in 2014.

06/21/2018 - 8:51am I'm okay with that. We had a…

I'm okay with that. We had a legit shot at Najee Harris. Some chance is better than none.

We have a chance with Zach Harrison. The odds aren't in Michigan's favor, but there's a shot.

06/21/2018 - 7:49am He had 35 carries for 169…

He had 35 carries for 169 yards and 2 touchdowns over three seasons (including the year he redshirted).

06/21/2018 - 7:47am Maybe. But he hasn't done…

Maybe. But he hasn't done very much at Minnesota or CMU. He averaged 16.8 yards/return as a kick returner. We have better guys than him.

I guess that's why he's coming in as a walk-on.

06/19/2018 - 12:15pm Oh yeah, he played one…

Oh yeah, he played one season of college football. Never mind. He must be way more informed than Jim Harbaugh and Co.

06/19/2018 - 9:20am He was a freshman offensive…

He was a freshman offensive lineman in Detroit. Chances of a freshman looking dominant are slim.

06/19/2018 - 4:34am You're making my point for…

You're making my point for me. Matt Pargoff and Brandon Brown aren't involved in the rankings...which means guys who are even less experienced are doing the rankings.

Josh Helmholdt *is* involved in the rankings, and he has less football experience than Pargoff and Brown.

06/18/2018 - 10:15pm Not that it matters, but I…

Not that it matters, but I don't consider Belleville to be a part of Detroit.

06/18/2018 - 10:13pm Yikes.

A large number of…

Yikes.

A large number of recruiting analysts are simply "journalists" who have decided to cover high school football recruiting. There are some (Tom Luginbill, Barton Simmons, etc.) with football chops, but many others have never played, coached, or worked in the football realm.

Think of the guys who have worked at The Wolverine (Rivals), for example. I don't think any of them have done anything beyond playing high school football, except Matt Pargoff (high school coach) and Brandon Brown (middle school coach). Some of them didn't even play high school football.

The coaches know a crap-ton more about evaluating players than those recruiting sites' employees. Recruiting rankings matter, but a lot of rankings are based on how many COACHES have offered. Rivals isn't going to rank a guy with Alabama, Ohio State, and USC offers as a 2-star. On the flip side, they're not going to give a 5-star ranking to a kid who only has offers from Northern Illinois and Syracuse.

06/18/2018 - 9:20pm Well. Um. I'll say this: I'm…

Well. Um. I'll say this: I'm not surprised about his ranking.

There are some on this board who consistently talk about only wanting players who want to play for Michigan. Well, this kid has been working HARD to get an offer from Michigan. He already said they jumped to #1 on his list, which I could have told you would happen if he ever got offered.

It's a bit of an Alex Malzone situation, IMO.

06/16/2018 - 4:01pm A guy who isn't interested…

A guy who isn't interested doesn't visit twice.

06/16/2018 - 4:00pm ...but he's paid his way to…

...but he's paid his way to Ann Arbor, Michigan twice now.

06/16/2018 - 3:55pm What's missing is a) the…

What's missing is a) the ability to click on the "5 new" portion of the MGoBoard, which would take you to the first comment you hadn't already viewed and b) the red "new" stamp on comments you'd read before, making it easy to scroll through a thread and see each one of those new posts.

Now you have to re-read everything. Time stamps don't do much unless you want to spend a ton of time reading numbers and then trying to remember the last time you read that thread.

So...yeah. The board isn't as easy to read.

06/15/2018 - 9:06pm De'Veon Smith was very…

De'Veon Smith was very average. He averaged 4.5 yards/carry for his career with a low of 4.2 and a high of 4.8. Even in 2015 when Michigan had an effective passing game for much of the year, he averaged just 4.2 yards/carry.

06/15/2018 - 2:14pm Without going back to read…

Without going back to read what he said, he did mention Denard Robinson but said he wasn't counting him because it was such a sample size that he played RB. (Or something like that.) Playing RB in the NFL wasn't relevant to his list, though Robinson did play a few games at RB at the end of his career.

06/15/2018 - 10:59am His official visit to…

His official visit to Michigan on November 25, 2017 suggests otherwise, especially combined with his June 14, 2017 unofficial visit.

06/15/2018 - 10:57am You mean other schools make…

You mean other schools make edits, too?!?!?! I'm shocked.

06/15/2018 - 10:56am Then why is he visiting…

Then why is he visiting twice? If he knows ONE HUNDRED PERCENT he doesn't want to play as far away from home as Michigan, then why visit Michigan two times? Furthermore, why do it on his own dime? This isn't an official visit. He's taking time (and money) out of his busy summer to come to Ann Arbor from North Carolina.

I'm not saying he's going to commit to Michigan, but you're going on feelings rather than evidence. You say he WANTS to play close to home, but he is COMING to Michigan for a second time. Actions speak louder than Sky Panther's words.

06/14/2018 - 9:27pm Wow. So now Harbaugh is…

Wow. So now Harbaugh is receiving criticism for bringing in walk-ons, of which there is an unlimited number. This is a fresh concept. The team could conceivably have 130-150 players, and you're concerned that one more of them will be a QB. We've got about six walk-on fullbacks, but the problem isn't Brian Chu or Peter Bush or Spencer Dickow...it's Jeff George, Jr.

06/14/2018 - 2:36pm It's not too often that 6'7"…

It's not too often that 6'7" quarterbacks pan out.

06/14/2018 - 2:36pm Saying "We have a chance"…

Saying "We have a chance" with so-and-so means you have a chance. It doesn't mean it's GOING to happen. You can't say, "We didn't get Player X, so we never had a chance." It's not the same thing.

I have it typed up but I just haven’t published it yet.

Yeah, he's a good prospect. I would gladly take him in this class.

I mean, he's planning a visit. That's all anyone said.

Seconded. Some board posts/responses can be skipped if I know certain users posted them.

I had the same problem as yesterday, and I wasn't going to try logging in until I saw somebody post something about the issue being fixed. So thanks for letting me know that I can log in again.

The coaches were going hard after him and Michigan was a consideration, but it's not like Oklahoma pulled an upset on us or anything.

Josh must have spent a little too much time hanging around the program during the Tate Forcier Era...

Like I said, he should stay through this year and re-evaluate next year.

The dude had a lot of issues throughout his life, so this isn't too surprising. Still sad, though.

06/08/2018 - 7:45am Truthfully, any QB who's in…

Truthfully, any QB who's in his 3rd, 4th, or 5th year and not starting should at least consider the idea of transferring. It's going to be different in every situation (if you're #2 as a redshirt sophomore, and the starter is a 5th year senior, then maybe you wait), but you're not going to make it to the NFL if you're a college backup, Matt Cassel notwithstanding.

My advice to Peters would be to stick it out this year and try to graduate in 2019, which would give him two years as a potential grad transfer.

06/07/2018 - 2:14pm If you're physical, you can…

If you're physical, you can get away with being a half-step slow. If you're fast, you can get away with being less physical. You just have to embrace the tools you have and work on the ones you don't.

IMO, when you have to say "I'm really, really fast"...well...that opinion might not be shared.

06/07/2018 - 11:13am It's interesting to me that…

It's interesting to me that all these guys are going to different schools - Duke, Michigan, Stanford, and Nebraska. These schools are all over the country and only Michigan/Nebraska are even in the same conference. It seems like they're actually looking for the best fit rather than being tied to their region, state, family influence, etc.

It might be a pain, but I like(d) the app(s) better, at least when they were working. I'm not a huge fan of "mobile-responsive" sites only. They're kind of annoying to navigate on a smart phone. (I know TTB doesn't have an app, but I would develop one if I had the time and resources.)

Are Kate Upton avatars allowed again?

06/03/2018 - 8:50pm There are videos all over the

There are videos all over the internet of these types of fights. They're pretty crazy. I've been watching them with odd fascination for a few years. I just can't really wrap my head around that type of fanaticism, along with a lack of care for your own safety. You get 50 people from one side who knock out 45 people from the other side, and suddenly you have a ton of dudes ganging up on the 5 guys who are left standing. It's nuts.

06/03/2018 - 1:59pm I can confirm that two of the

I can confirm that two of the departures are Shea Patterson and Rashan Gary.

Not sure about the third.

06/02/2018 - 1:08pm Well, Trent Dilfer ranks

Well, Trent Dilfer ranks himself in there, which bumps everyone else down a notch.

But for real, I think there are 24 quarterbacks invited to the competition.

Brady Hoke.

I think we had 13 linebackers on the roster at one point during his tenure. He was trying to roll out a 0-11-0 defense, but a couple of those guys just didn't develop quickly enough.

There isn't one. Generally, the staff members are recruiting their own position groups within the state. Ryan Hayes (Greg Frey), Karsen Barnhart (Ed Warinner), etc.

06/02/2018 - 12:56pm Again, the OP specifically

Again, the OP specifically mentioned Metro Detroit and Tyrone Wheatley. People have named Donovan Peoples-Jones, Ambry Thomas, Jalen Mayfield, Ryan Hayes, and Aidan Hutchinson as counterpoints to the OP...and the only one that makes sense is Hutchinson. And even then, Hutchinson's not necessarily a great example of in-state recruiting, since his dad was an All-American legacy at Michigan.

06/02/2018 - 11:04am Tyrone Wheatley was here

Tyrone Wheatley was here then.
