California bill will make more teams competitive, but will also expose those who cannot coach up talent. Alabama, Clemson & OSU will struggle a little more while everyone else bungles 5* talent.
Not going to lie, it hurts watching 99% of other teams play offense. OSU running a play and getting right back to the LOS with plenty of time to make changes. Their O-Line getting PUSH & not a gentle nudge. They just put themselves in the position to score before halftime.... it hurts.
I've suffered enough just being a Michigan fan for x amount of years. It's nice to watch modern football; hopefully this games resembles the 2017 meeting they had.

Offense works 70% of the year, has rough outings here and there against teams (mostly with inferior talent). Questionable decision/playcalling (running ben mason from shotgun?, mcurry?), inability to get 7 points instead of 3 on a number of drives. Lack of modern passing scheme; imho we should trot out Black, DPJ, Nico 60% of the time. Throwing a two TE set out on the field and calling PA on 3rd and long is offensive suicide in today's game. Offensive line made some strides but not nearly enough this year.
Defense has shown up most of the time and has their WTF moments every a couple games. Scheme needs tweaking and needs better athletes at a number of positions.
We've uttered these sentiments for literally years and have gotten the same results with better talent so there really isn't much to say. We all want it fixed and do not know the answer.

So we need this team to reach equilibrium where we can rely on either side of the ball to win us games. I do not know what exactly needs to be done but I fall in the camp that we need an OC that wants to air it out more than we currently do and Harbaugh has to give up play calling completely. We have the horses .... they need to be let out of the stable. Don Brown needs something other than hyper-aggro scheme for teams with better talent offensively.
the final straw for me was the Manti Teo catfish story, I use to watch pti and around the horn as well but I barely watch those now. glad to see other HGTV fans, I could watch endless diners drive-ins and dives as well.
I'm not taking anything away from the guy but they have three 1st round draft picks on that offenive line. But given the performane of our offensive line the past few years anyone will be an upgrade at this point.
As much respect as I have for Mattison I do not want him back, maybe for recruiting. I would just like to see an eactual pass rush, and not blitz linebackers like hell all game hoping that [Insert QB here] misses one of two players wide open on the slant or hitch.
The only thing that worries me moving forward is if the next coach can whip either Morris or Speight into shape. It pains me to know that Shane was not developed with the amazing arm strength he has, which in itself will be another hurdle because he will most likely be more prone to tunrovers. Nobody has seen much of Speight but he has a year of "practice" underneath his belt but god only knows how he will look if thrown into the fire. At this point I'm willing to accept any QB who can move the chains consistently for 3 quarters, having said that the WR's need to get better as well.
I know our true identitiy is to run the ball 20-25 times and get 400 + rushing yards but if Funchess isn't targeted at least 10 times this game I will be very dissapointed, and I hope our secondary doesn't let Cook go Nova on us.
I think recruits would still be on the fence about Michigan if Hoke were to stay on for another year. Brandon is most likely out as AD this year and the spotlight will soley be on Hoke next season. If he does not get fired this year it will certainly be next year, classes will be comprised of local talent .... recruiting on a national level is pretty much over.
I'm on the Dan Quinn bandwagon as well, with all the pass happy football being played on each level he's been in charge or a part of the Seattle defense for a number of years now. That will help recruiting, and I'm sure he's picked up some (coaching) bits and pieces from Carroll along the way. He is a prime candidate for a NFL HC gig so this is another pipe dream. Either way we are in a terrible position because the coaching landscape is not shifting that much this year, plus the Florida HC gig will be pretty hard to pass up for potential coaching candidates as well.
Funchess, Ryan and Clark will all make it to the NFL, everyone else on this roster is a complete toss up at this point under this coaching staff because nobody on this roster can do things consistently. It would be nice to produce some NFL superstars but we're struggling to produce collegiate superstars at the moment.
Acceptance ... easily, I can forego watching our team play and would be fine checking the box scores and highlights (if there are any) on espn. I have been at this level since the middle of last year.
