05/02/2018 - 3:49pm Totally agree

Stafford has had zero run game and needs to consistently carry the team on offense, and still manages to put up impressive stats.

02/23/2018 - 3:10pm Plenty of open looks

Our receivers were getting open, so I think they were executing well enough. When your QB can't make the right read given only two options, idk what else you can do.

02/13/2018 - 12:02pm That pitch would actually make sense

Anderson has said many times that a big reason he's transferring is to play against elite competition.

02/09/2018 - 11:02pm Thank god

There’s still sane people on this board. They’re few and far between.

02/06/2018 - 1:29pm Okay...

So because one class isn’t meeting your expectations, Harbaugh and co are not good recruiters? Never mind his previous excellent recruiting classes at Michigan and the complexities that go into recruiting each year. It’s like everywhere here has amnesia.

01/11/2018 - 12:49pm People here are crazy

I don't understand the idea people have on this blog that any team regardless of age / experience / talent / injuries / any other factors can achieve a near perfect season as long as they have the right coach.

Also, there's this other nearly universal idea that any team that isn't curb stomping all opponents by year 3, regardless of any of the factors listed above, is entirely because of bad coaching.

It is mind boggling to me.

12/24/2017 - 12:30am Agreed

I'm actually pissed he didn't just end taxation all together because I'm being forced to pay money that goes to all kinds of services I don't use. Like isn't that so heanously unconstitutional?

10/08/2017 - 12:38am Holy shit... there's

Holy shit... there's reasonable people on the board right now?

02/02/2017 - 2:46pm Hello Post?

Is Ace putting up a hello post for him? Punters are mysterious and I want details!

09/17/2016 - 8:51am 27-10 Michigan

27-10 Michigan

07/01/2016 - 2:54pm Past his prime?

He had the second highest point total of his career last season, and his highest two seasons ago... Not saying he'll maintain that over the next six years, but I def wouldn't say he's past his prime.

06/03/2015 - 5:35pm I think that, policy aside,

I think that, policy aside, if you're going to take visits after commiting to a school, it sends a pretty clear message that you're not 100% committed.

02/05/2015 - 8:01am Because of the attention paid to football vs. hockey

Think about the fan and media response to football recruiting vs. hockey recruiting. The scrutiny and pressure is much more intense.

02/03/2015 - 12:16pm Bummed about Clark

Chris Clark is one of those guys where if he was coming to Michigan, he probably woudn't have waited till signing day to announce. We've seen this "strong interest early - not commited (or decommited) but still interested - doesn't commit" situation with other top recruits in the past. Hope I'm wrong on this one.

12/02/2014 - 11:39am Job Satisfaction > Money

There comes a point where money isn't really a deciding factor... when you're already a millionaire, taking a job you don't want to go from rich to slightly more rich isn't appealing. If he wants to coach in the NFL, he's not going to consider coaching in college regardless of how much money we throw at him.

09/28/2014 - 7:40pm No joke

Swap it with a slightly smaller / sleepier kitten and that would be the best mascot ever.

09/20/2014 - 6:21pm Yea! I'm sick of him turning

Yea! I'm sick of him turning the ball over.

03/28/2014 - 9:03am I've never understood the Walmart Wolverine thing

1. As a U of M Alum, I hate the term itself. It implies that U of M fans who didn't go to Michigan are poor rednecks who couldn't possibly become anything like they're U of M attending bretheren. I know plenty of U of M grads who flamed out, and plenty of people from smaller schools that are rocking their lives so hard.

2. WHY I WOULD DESPISE YOU FOR LOVING THIS THING THAT I LOVE. It's easy to love U of M if you went there, but if something draws you to U of M fandom without attending U of M, your fandom actually impresses me a little more.

01/08/2014 - 3:19pm I'm looking at the registration rules online...

... and I'm not seeing this. Do you have a source for the rule change?

EDIT: I see it. Man, that is confusingly written. So an alumni can sign up a bunch of non-alums, but for those non-alums to actually be able to attend they need to buy memberships? Yikes.

12/21/2013 - 5:43pm It provided a little insight

It provided a little insight into a Michigan recruiting battle. That was the point.

12/06/2013 - 9:38am Heeeeere he is

The biggest douche in the uuuuuuuniverse. In all the gaaaaalaxy, there's no bigger douche than heeeeee.

12/01/2013 - 12:12am I'm mostly a lurker...

But I really want to get in on this thread. I love all the writing and insight from Brian and everyone else on this blog. Ignore all the haters and trolls.

07/12/2013 - 2:20am Surreal

This looks like a still from a movie

06/20/2013 - 4:06pm Don't be so sure...

I'm not sure what people's' perception of a film program are, but the SAC major at U of M was pretty demanding if you wanted to do well academically. You had to learn a huge scope of film history, internatioinal cinemas, techniques, theory, etc., and use a ton of critical thinking skill. We also had to write a ton of three page papers... Papers where you've written 5-6 pages, and it seems impossible to make your argument more succinct. I also did screenwriting, which double my workload.

Anyway, not saying it's tough like engineering or something (cause it definitelty is not), but I could see it being tougher at times than the B school coursework (judging from my B school friends and working there as an undergrad). I imagine that at USC, which has a very respected film program, the requirements can be pretty tough.

EDIT: Man, totally forgot about the screenings. Those killed your week. I had upwards of 9 hours of screenings a week at times.

05/23/2013 - 3:29pm I guess everything needs a /s

"It's an illogical argument that tries to equate correlation with causation."

The fact that you preceived the Cass connection as an attempt at serious evidence. lololol. I'm sorry, but I don't think you're ready for this blog.

02/25/2013 - 10:59am I would like to see moar references you don't understand

"my perception is that the front page content has become increasingly more difficult to read with numerous bizarre allusions."

I'm 25 and have been reading this blog since the beginning of undergrad. My perception is that little is stylistically different. Brian is still busting out constant, hilarious content.

Citing one headline you don't understand as evidence of "numerous bizarre illusions" makes me want to punch you in the face is not evidence. If you want all your content delivered as flavorless mush because you lost your tastebuds years ago then go somewhere else. If you're so intellectually lazy and devoid of humor that jokes and illusions prohibit you from understanding the article then go somewhere else.

The style of this blog is EVERYTHING and you are not allowed to groundlessly attack it. Your decreased consumption is a good thing.

12/07/2012 - 1:22am The hexagrams pointed to one thing...

11/20/2012 - 12:20pm aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

10/08/2012 - 9:24am Might want to soften your tone a bit

Everybody has addictions. Just because yours aren't as noticeable or detrimental as drugs and alcohol doesn't mean they're not there. To say you have "no sympathy" for millions of people suffering with addiction and that they're all stupid is unbelievably insensitive, judgmental, and does nobody any good.

08/20/2012 - 12:21pm 25% better

If my math is right, he will throw ten thousand touchdowns.

05/10/2012 - 9:34pm Thank you kind sir

I can finally let go of these feelings :D

I think anybody that likes this song is taking crazy pills. Yes, Zoolander crazy pills. I can't think of a song that has a more cheesy, nonsensical chorus in all of music.

DISCLAIMER: I know none of the other words to this song. Maybe those other words explain the following questions.

It breaks down like this:

"For those about to rock" - nonsensical

Poignant questions:

  • What are people doing before they're about to rock?
  • Are they doing something salute worthy?
  • Is the act of about-to-rock more salute-worthy than the act of rock that is going to follow?

"We salute you" - cheesy (also nonsensical)

Poignant questions:

  • Why are we "saluting" those about to rock?
  • When you honor a rock musician, do you salute them?
  • Is this rock musician your WWII Veteran grandfather?

Summary: Expressing honor for rock musicians by saluting them doesn't make any sense. That'd be like honoring Mother Theresa by punching her in the face.

04/11/2012 - 8:27pm more please

Nothing gets me more excited for Michigan football than digital engagement cycles.

02/01/2012 - 12:05am Yes!

Totally forgot. My brain is at ease.

01/31/2012 - 11:55pm Wait...

Does that mean he doesn't like our chances with Diamond?

01/30/2012 - 7:51pm ^ Yes

More towards Ace. Either way, I can't believe so many people jumped on my use of "we". It was more calling out the perception that it's ok to declare his commitment when he directly said he has not commited.

01/30/2012 - 4:08pm Out of respect for the kid

Shouldn't we withhold the 'hello' post for now?

01/29/2012 - 11:10pm Where is Kozan anyway?

His dinner's getting all cold and eaten...

01/18/2012 - 12:07am O_O

09/23/2011 - 12:46pm I don't have any direct

I don't have any direct experience playing civ, but EU is really really in depth. If you like like civ  i'd deifnitely check it out. Also, Hearts of Iron is a title from the same company that's a WWII strategy game. It's a lot of fun; it's actually what I played first.

09/21/2011 - 1:26pm EU2 <3

Yes; this is the only sports blog to ever mention Europa Universalis. It's also the first mass-audience anything to mention Europa Universalis. But dear god is that one of the best games ever created... if you're in to 2d graphics and running the government of a country over many centuries. I know that's not everybodies thing.

08/30/2011 - 4:57pm One more thing to add is that

One more thing to add is that Catholic Central (and Godin) blew up Dearborn For(d)son. Typically being Dearborn's best team, it either means CC is that good or Dearborn football is not so good. Probably a lot of both.

08/29/2011 - 3:42pm Unexpected yet excellent

Unexpected yet excellent news. It has to mean something (if only a little something).

08/26/2011 - 1:56pm You're right; it was 2008!

You're right; it was 2008! And if the space was so private, they would have just kicked me out. You can't honestly say that as an undergrad high off our only decent win of the year, hanging out on the field with a chance to check out the locker room, that you wouldn't do it. You'd stop and say, "NOPE! THAT'S PRIVATE!" and walk away.

08/26/2011 - 1:38pm Rushin the field is good times

My favorite U of M football moment came at our darkest hour.

After our improbable comback against Wisconsin in 2007, chants of  "rush the field!" were being shouted all over the student section. Me and a buddy of mine got the front right as the final seconds ticked off, and when the game was sealed, people started hoping over the rail. The guy in front of me wouldn't go, and after some proding on my part, he finally jumped. And was immediately nabbed by a security guard.

With the guard occupied, I jumped myself. "HEY YOU!" he shouted, and pointed at me. I ran towards the tunnel and hung out there for a second. After it was clear he lost track of me, I went to the corner of the field, where the team was celebrating near the student section. It was surreal.

When they were done, I followed them into the tunnel. But instead of leaving, I followed them into the locker room. I had a student shirt on and clearly looked like I didn't belong, but nobody questioned me. I watched RichRod talk to the team after the game. Michael Phelps showed up briefly, said "hi" to a few players, and was about to leave the locker when I shoved my hand towards him and said "Michael Phelps!". He robotically shook my hand.

My favorite part was when everybody got down on one knee for a prayer, something that was obviously routine to everyone in the room. Slowly and awkwardly, I got on one knee myself. I just looked so out of place, but nobody cared. Once RichRod was done talking, I conspiciously walked around with my flip phone out taking video of the locker room, took a gatorade out of the fridge, and hung for a bit. Then I left. And that's my story.

08/18/2011 - 3:08pm I was so very, very confident

I was so very, very confident this was an onion article. So very confident.

08/16/2011 - 2:25pm they're*

08/16/2011 - 2:07pm really?

Are we really going to insult the intelligence/preferences of a recruits mother? Recruits read these boards, remember? We have no idea what the Diamond family's decision process is or how mama Diamond's preferences will play into it. And if he does go blue, this kind of conversation sure is welcoming.

08/10/2011 - 4:37pm I haven't gotten them either

I haven't gotten them either

08/09/2011 - 5:27pm Jesus

Way to beat a dead horse people. Is anyone going to answer the question?
