10/20/2018 - 5:15pm Told buddy of mine before…

Told buddy of mine before the game it seems Michigan has shied away from MSU when they play, like they play scared and back down when things get tough. This was not the case here. Faced with some adversity on the road in a tie game in the 2nd half they looked like they woke up and become the more competitive team.

This to me was a program changing win cause of that reason. This was the look I was hoping for when Harbaugh came back to town.

10/20/2018 - 5:10pm This is EXACTLY what they…

This is EXACTLY what they wanted to build since day one here, a physical running game with a highly efficient passing game that when it does throw deep it connects. It kind of offense that fits well with their defense.

400 yards of offense in crap weather conditions against an above average defense on the road is solid. Sure they left some points on the field but still very good.

10/20/2018 - 5:06pm Think this team/program is…

Think this team/program is playing the kind of football that Harbaugh envisioned when he was hired. Never looked like this in 2016.

Michigan State has physically dominated this series the last decade. It's came back to even the last two years but today was an ass kicking beat down

09/15/2018 - 5:41pm throw the ball........we…

throw the ball........we have a NFL level QB (only NFL offensive player likely on team). Need to play to strengths.

09/15/2018 - 5:40pm throwing way more now

throwing way more now

09/15/2018 - 5:38pm you have to be kidding me…

you have to be kidding me........need follow CFB closer. Promise you can name 20 teams last year hit hard with injuries and michigan not one of them.

09/15/2018 - 5:04pm thanks as well

thanks as well

09/15/2018 - 5:04pm thank you

thank you

09/15/2018 - 5:03pm huge

huge

09/15/2018 - 5:00pm it's the 2nd quarter…

it's the 2nd quarter........haha. Ever play competitive sports before?

09/15/2018 - 4:55pm worst fan base ever…

worst fan base ever..........waaaaaaa it's 7-7

07/14/2018 - 12:35pm Also what Franklin did at…

Also what Franklin did at Vanderbilt is as good as what any coach has done anywhere in the country.

No coach is going to take a team that recruits in the 50's and win at higher levels there. None would be able to go into Vanderbilt and have done more with the resources he had there.

There's no such thing as getting to elite levels EVER at Vanderbilt. Winning 9 games is the pinnacle at a school like Vandy.

07/14/2018 - 12:31pm Love how Franklin needs to…

Love how Franklin needs to still prove himself without Barkley/Moorhead but no one mentions Harbaugh having Andrew Luck.......this site cracks me up sometimes.

07/14/2018 - 12:27pm Are you reserving judgement…

Are you reserving judgement on Harbaugh considering he had a generational QB at Stanford?

07/03/2018 - 12:11pm But it doesn't seem to hurt…

But it doesn't seem to hurt CFB.........I mean if 10 pct of the NBA teams (3 out of 30) have a shot next year at winning it all then what can we say is realistic in CFB, it's not 10 pct (13 teams out of 130). Is it even 5 pct (6.5 teams)? Not saying I like this either but the point is hasn't seemed to hurt CFB and the popularity it has despite the fact that 95 pct of the teams have NO shot of winning it all.

06/06/2018 - 12:51pm me too............There's…

me too............There's just way too much unfinished business with Harbaugh coaching at Michigan. If Beilein left it would suck but his time there would still always be remembered as a success where if Harbaugh left right now all would say that he failed, left cause he couldn't win, etc....Think many would also feel hopeless about the future of the football program if Harbaugh left today without achieving his/our goals.

06/06/2018 - 12:46pm Hopefully the Pistons are…

Hopefully the Pistons are now close to hiring their new head coach.

I ended up placing a wager online when this whole process started for the Pistons a month ago and ended up getting Casey at +600.

With my luck I can almost guarantee you that they end hiring the other guy now LOL.

06/02/2018 - 8:20am With the start of June- feel like we truly are in the dog days

of the offseason for football

06/01/2018 - 8:15pm I find it hard to believe the relationship JB and Warde have

that he needs to go to this level to squeeze an extra million out for his assistant. I know it's business but not his style combined with would like to think Michigan A.D is a little more easy to work with esp with their love for JB and the professionalism by both sides.

Hate to admit it but think he has obvious interest in this. Let's face a guy growing up a hoops junkie may have always dreamed of coaching at that level. Might be his lifetime dream. Maybe he feels would take perfect situation and this might be it for him in this state, etc... who knows.

06/01/2018 - 8:09pm More like 65 years old

big differene. Might be what he wants to end his career, coaching at highest levels has likely been his ultimate dream at one time in life I'm sure.

06/01/2018 - 8:07pm The best coach in the game though comes from CBB

I honestly do think that Gores thinks this would be a big exciting hire being it's in-state. Problem is most would be furious. Talk about a guy not having his pulse on things,

05/23/2018 - 3:14pm Same here because at the end of the day all anyone

talks about after the season is how over is many wins you had that year.

Nobody is going to go pop up 5 years later and say yeah that 2021 Michigan team had 11 wins but not good enough because 3 of those came against creampuffs.

Instead seasons are almost always looked at and simplified with one number, how many wins you had overall especially years later down the road. Don't need to apologize for good seasons when you play in a very good conference.

05/23/2018 - 3:10pm Exactly- no reason to kill your chances and health of team also

win the Big Ten and almost guarantee spot into playoff. No reason to try and do more. I'd love for this year's ND game to have been replaced by a creampuff. Schedule is murder esp big ten east these days.

05/23/2018 - 3:02pm It's why he's ranked a top pick in mock drafts too

Like it or not there's something to be said for guys with high 5 start upside like he has. There's a ton of can't miss stories out there that do end up missing for sure but this is also the same group that prodcues the highest percentage of superstars as well.

05/23/2018 - 2:59pm Pretty good and ranked in highest 10% of QBs in the country

quite a difference IMO

05/23/2018 - 2:56pm what sites?

just curious as I follow few these closely never seen him mentioned there.

05/23/2018 - 2:51pm Almost no way Harbaugh is placing his faith in a true freshman

in year #4 coming off a dissapointting season last year. Way too much at stake and combined with fact 3 extremely talented guys ahead of him who already know the system. Be surprised Milton redshirt is even burned. There's just way too much to lose.

05/23/2018 - 2:46pm That places him in the top 10% of his QBs in the country

I cannot even believe that's possible.

05/23/2018 - 2:43pm No way

their defense was top 5-ish in the country. The defense won a lot of close games in spite of him.

05/23/2018 - 2:42pm Peters actually had a better QB rating than Lewerke last year

BEFORE the bowl game.

05/23/2018 - 2:39pm the problem is a 12th ranked preseason QB does

have some Heisman aspirations. Think there's a better chance he could lose job to the backup a few games than him being a QB ranked in THE 10% OF ALL QB'S IN THE COUNTRY!!! That's a little ridiculous IMO

05/23/2018 - 2:37pm and added all up it's a below average looking 127 QB rating

overrated

05/23/2018 - 2:34pm His QB rating was an awful 127 which is

less than what Wilton Speight was his first full year as a starter. Lewerke is most overrated QB in the country right now if he's #12.

break down how you want but his numbers were below average when compared to other good QB's on that list

05/20/2018 - 3:57pm The only movie I had to rewind seconds after it was over and

watch it again right away was............."The Usual Suspects".

Too tough for me to single out any great film over all others though I will admit that I'm a huge sucker for sports movies so Rocky 1 and 2 (the best one) along with Hoosiers would be up there for me. Even have to put Rudy close though the whole Notre Dame thing knocks it down a notch.

IMDB lists Shawshank Redemption as the highest rated of all-time movie so I'm sure that will get a lot of votes here. Interested to see what others have listed.

05/16/2018 - 10:08am They basically traded

JD Martinez, Ian Kinsler, Justin Upton and Justin Verlander for Leonys Martin, Jacoby Jones Dixon Machado and Francisco Liriano.

Rest of team is more or less the same nucleus (Iglesias, Miggy, Victory, Castellanos and McCann to go along with same 3 same SP and Greene in pen).

Those current guys all play the same way more or less with Iggy all defense no stick, Miggy productive but injured, Victor washed up, Castellanos maturing as a hitter in his prime but crap defender and McCann just being blah. The nuclues hasn't really changed much.

They just basically took 4 All-Star level players and replaced them with 3 guys who are in MLB because of their defense and not their bats.

Think most would agree that they would take the first group over the other group every day of the week. If Tigers had any of those former guys on this team they'd likely be couple games better and winning this division right now.

05/16/2018 - 9:59am Incredibly they have played just 10 games this year against

winning teams.

Their SOS at ESPN computerized RPI rating is the lowest that I've ever seen for any team this late in the season. Actually surprised they haven't won a few more games considering they were on pace for a 90 loss season at the 1/4 mark (73-89 to be precise). Wonder what the tone would be if they had faced Texas Rangers schedule of 29 games against winning teams right now?

Need to re-visit this question in another month or so get a better idea exactly where they are at IMO.

05/16/2018 - 9:55am They literally couldn't give Miggy away for free at this point

Not a single team in MLB would take on that albatross of a contract. Thing is he can still hit but that contract makes him impossible to trade let alone get anything for him. Miggy will be a Tigers for life unless they find some way to package him with a major asset like Fulmer and even then the return won't be much.

05/07/2018 - 12:56pm Mike Trout says hello

Trout's career of dominace over the others in the league is 2nd to none in any sport and he's just going into his prime years. Unfortunately one baseball player doesn't have the same impact.

05/07/2018 - 12:54pm in a league with 8 teams and no free agency

and no salary cap either.

05/07/2018 - 12:52pm Jordan was so bad in baseball that he made

Tim Tebow's baseball career look like a success.

05/07/2018 - 12:47pm He's the best of all-time

and there's no debate about it either. Only one's saying otherwise are those folks who live in the 'players were better back in my day' mindset which is simply not true in any popluar sport out there.

Guys today are bigger, stronger, faster so most importantly he's doing it also against better players as well which makes what's he's doing even more impressive. Think that's a factor most don't place enough stock into is you're not going to look as good when the competition is better which is clearly the case based all factors.

For some odd reason though the NBA is the one sport where folks still want to talk about the good old days being better when it's not the case just based on numbers alone. No one in there right mind would ever say this about the MLB, NFL etc....

The NBA also pulls from a HUGE population pool thats WAY more global these days (30% from outside the U.S) combined with kids coming up are now playing AAU type all-star games at way higher rate than they ever did before meaning the overall player is so much better than was back 30 years ago. Add in the advancements in training, nutrition and technology and the players nowadays like in all popular career fields are way better .

05/07/2018 - 12:35pm If you want to get a better understanding how the game is played

these days than get "Moneyball" or "the Extra 2%"............both are excellent reads that go in-depth how most teams these days look at player value, etc...

04/27/2018 - 6:48pm Almost 100% the reason

and Lombardi could get a job tomorrow high up in a lot of front offices in the league.

04/27/2018 - 5:49pm A 6 foot 2 270 LB defensive lineman is kind of like a

6 foot 4 shooting guard. Cause of concern for teams.

04/26/2018 - 4:13pm The Wire is top notch

so is the Shield, Friday Night Lights (the TV show) is surprisingly really good, Bloodline, Wentworth, Homeland, Damages, Brotherhood, Happy Valley, Boardwalk Empire. Billions, Ray Donovan, The Ranch, The Affair, Rectify, Mad Men, The Missing, Prison Break

04/26/2018 - 4:06pm Can't wait for all the negative Nancy's

after each Lions pick (1st round, 2nd, 3rd and so on) telling us all how the Lions screwed up by not taking some guy they watched a 3 minute highlight video on youtube of. Here comes the wannabe NFL GM's with their in-depth analysis as they claim to know more despite working all day in an office and watching some Mel Kiper tidbits the last few months over the guys who study this stuff with a staff of probably 20+ guys year round.

04/26/2018 - 4:02pm Simply not true

In fact they have right around 12th best record in the NFL in the last 7 years combined.

Suh, Megatron and Levy (who was cut and never picked up by another team) thankfully were all let go saving the team tens of millions of dollars. It's not about how good someone is but how good they are in relationship to their yearly salary in the NFL and in the case of each one of those guys they were all overpaid and overvalued.

04/26/2018 - 3:07pm Best thing happened to the Lions the last 5 years is

Calvin Johnson and his nearly $20 million a year salary retiring early. No doubt Johnson was still decent but in a salary cap league overpaying a guy as much as they did with him is a HUGE albatross to try and overcome. Thankfully he left early as they'd still be paying him elite level salary for less than elite level production.

Plus don't think for a minute he left cause of the Lions. He left for the same reasons Sanders did, didn't need to keep playing risking injury, didn't care enough anymore, etc. Can't dog a guy for that but if he actually really wanted to come back the Lions would gladly love to deal him for a few assests. He's had numerous chances to comeback but like Sanders never he has once shown any interest in doing so.

04/25/2018 - 5:22pm Rookie QB contracts have went from being absurd before to now

being a HUGE value pick....... If you can just get league wide average production from QB on a rookie deal who say is making $5 million (last year #3 pick Trubisky) then you can take that $20 million that you saved at that spot and add 3 MORE high quality NFL starters (for example- Darius Slay, TJ Lang and Glover Quin all added up were $21 million last year) and no this isn't a dig on Lions paying Stafford (who I'm huge fan of).

Best example is when Seattle had their big run lot of that was because of all the money that they saved at the QB spot early in Wilson's career. Seems the Rams and Eagles are enjoying that nowadays with Goff and Wentz bringing more to the position than they are being paid. The Bucs and Titans have also elevated their teams with Winston and Mariotta even though neither has been elite thus far but both have been more than good enough to create a surplus of value also.

So what I'm saying is if I'm Cleveland I'd absolutely grab a QB early in this draft. If they get one who gives them average production they will be sitting pretty at that spot.
