|05/16/2018 - 8:02pm||eek||
brian has more hottakes than steven a smith - well, at least the same amount - and the times i listen to WTKA or his podcast can be painful.
i wish ace would stand up for himself more often. i think his takes are more reasonable than brians, but he often backs down when challenged.

|05/16/2018 - 7:57pm||my "unpopular" opinion||
people who hate on lloyd are idiots - especially because he gave us our only national championship in 50+ years.
|03/31/2018 - 7:03pm||These||
Refs are fucking garbage.
The good news is we could not have played a worse half. The bad news is we may not play any better next half.
|03/31/2018 - 6:51pm||What||
Are these refs calling??
|02/21/2018 - 2:49pm||I would die on this hill||
I was at the OSU game this year - and have been for many of the previous years - and all I can think about is Michigan fans would NEVER have the same reception that OSU fans get at the Big House. We're too nice. Teams know it. Fans know it. And it doesn't create a hostile away atmosphere.
I am in no way advocating violence - but there has to be some middle ground between high fives and hugs with away fans and English soccer stadium hooligans, right?
|02/13/2018 - 4:29pm||Price...and also schedule||
I'll fork over a couple hundred bucks for one marquee game a year, but why would I drop a grand or more for season tickets to watch blowouts against Cinncinati, Air Force, Rutgers, or Maryland?
Expansion has killed attedance. Every year you have a couple MAC cupcakes but now you get a couple garbage B1G teams - there's no sense going to those games when its over by the 3rd quarter and half the stadium empties out.
Next year's home schedule is:
That's possibly three but likely only two ranked teams and no rivals. If Michigan's attendance was down this year, it will be even lower next...
I imagine it's the same across the country. College football is turning into the NFL - no one cares about Browns versus Titans because there's no history there. What is the draw for Nebraska to play Purdue every year? Or West Virginia against Kansas State? You can go on down the line...I like my team but couldn't care less who they play about 75% of the time.
EDIT: I just went through the schedule when my brother attended UM from 1996-1999. During those four seasons (96, 96, 98, 99) they played ONE MAC team, Hawaii, and Rice. Those are the only games against mid-major (or less) competition - three over four years.
|02/10/2018 - 11:23pm||Meh||
Oh good let’s add another cook in the kitchen.
|02/08/2018 - 10:02pm||Hate to break it to ya||
But if playing or coaching college football is your only criteria for knowledge of the sport than you might as well stop reading mgoblog....
|01/09/2018 - 12:25am||Kinda||
Wild nick saban in a national championship game pulled a starting qb with a 25-2 record for a freshman who barely played and yet we kept JOK in for the entire MSU game...
|01/08/2018 - 10:49pm||Georgia||
Just threw an 80 yard touchdown from their freshmen qb to a redshirt freshmen WR. Before that, ALs freshmen qb threw a touchdown to a freshmen receiver...
|01/08/2018 - 10:37pm||Yikes||
Two freshmen QBs slinging the ball around in the national championship game. Not a good look for the QB whisperer...
|01/08/2018 - 9:21pm||A little||
Bitter that Georgia is this good this soon with a new coach.
|01/08/2018 - 2:14pm||While I agree with you||
that money at Michigan doesn't matter because we're sitting on a huge pile of it, the opportunity cost of this situation still should be a cause for concern.
There are alot of top-tier OC or OL coaches in the nation that would walk to Michigan for 1.1 Million. There's no reason why we should be settling for someone with less than an ideal track record eating up a coaching spot and not pulling his weight.
|01/01/2018 - 7:38pm||It takes||
A special type of skill to be both so complex that your players can’t learn the offense and yet so simple that the other team knows exactly what you’re doing. ::::::shruggy emoji:::::::
|01/01/2018 - 5:23pm||Hard to see||
Michigan rising from the ashes to have the type of season next year that’ll put them in contention for a championship (Big10 or otherwise...). Right now Harbaugh is what, the sixth best coach in the BIG? Behind Urban, Dantonio, Chryst, Franklin and now Frost - all of who we play next year.
I wouldn’t bet on any offensive staff changes, either. And instead of reevaluating the offensive playbook I think he will just double down, for better or worse.
This game was always going to be meaningless but oh boy that was basically worst case scenario heading into the offseason. This team was so bad that they effectively put Harbaugh on the hot seat within three months.
All this while we just watched OSU finish something like 12 out of 13 years with 3 losses or less...
|12/04/2017 - 3:52pm||What the hell?||
6:31 PM EST tipoff? Does no one work anymore??
|11/27/2017 - 2:34pm||Then||
Harbaugh could have reviewed the play. Not doing so meant he probably did not want to spend a timeout if he didn't think it could be overturned.
|11/25/2017 - 5:59pm||JOK||
Was a fifth year second string QB who has been in the system for three years. I think we can expect him to play better or look glaringly at player recruitment and/or development.
|11/25/2017 - 5:28pm||Confused||
If any criticism is supposed to be mocked with impunity, who is responsible for player development?
|11/25/2017 - 5:27pm||He||
Brought in JOK, who has been on the team under this coaching for three years...
|11/25/2017 - 5:02pm||Thats||
The worst part. Not just QB play that lost the game - defense came up short too.
|11/24/2017 - 12:16am||Classic mgoblog||
Getting our hopes up over a throw away press conference quote...that turns out to be the wrong quote. Yay!
|11/24/2017 - 12:01am||We’ve saved||
All our RPS for this game - all pepcat all day!!!!!!!!
|11/21/2017 - 2:15pm||This is a bit revisionist.||
Speight at the start of the year was not the same as Speight the first 3/4 of last year. There was something still...off...about him. When he left the Purdue game he was 2/4 for 10 yards. JOK came in and did so much better that the scuttlebutt after that game was that JOK was an actual viable quarterback. There was talk during the offseason that JOK closed the gap against Speight, too.
People talk about losing our starting QB like he was a Heisman contender. Not all starting QBs are created equal and yes, we lost ours for the season, but he wasn't playing at a very good level to begin with.
Everyone wants to say "but look we met our minimum expectations." They plug their ears and close their eyes and become equally as annoying as those on the other side of the spectrum saying Harbaugh should be fired.
The reality, IMO, is somewhere in between those extremes. Yes, there are legit reasons why we've played poorly, some of which ARE attributed to Harbaugh's decisions. That doesn't mean he's a terrible coach or should be fired, but it does mean he has some things that need to be changed this offeason.
|11/20/2017 - 12:03pm||Uhm||
We finished 3rd in our division, lost the bowl game, and were ranked #10 to end the year. I don't think the poster was "mad" about not having a perfect season, but last year was ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ relative to our talent.
|11/19/2017 - 8:06pm||No rain||
In the forecast. That’s basically our only hope for the weather to be bad enough to turn JT into garbage.
|11/19/2017 - 8:51am||That’s||
A very dubious claim to hang out hat on but I’ll bite: MSU this year is worse than us. That’s a bad loss.
|11/18/2017 - 4:41pm||Sounds like||
Some here are stuck waiting for that pepcat halfback pass
|11/18/2017 - 3:58pm||Besides||
A couple hot take idiots who is saying fire Harbaugh?
|11/18/2017 - 3:56pm||Haven’t been||
This Meh about OSU week since the RR years...
|11/18/2017 - 1:11pm||Shooting themselves in the||
Shooting themselves in the foot again. Yeesh. Defense deflated. Special teams playing like shit. And the offense is garbage.
|10/27/2017 - 12:25am||I thought||
The consensus on Cole two years ago was he was an above average left tackle that struggled against elite pass rushers? This notion of him out of position was not what was discussed at the start of the year...
|10/26/2017 - 1:20pm||How is this list||
actually supposed to make anyone "relax"? At best, we're a middling young team only ahead of such college football luminaries like Pitt, Ill, and Duke?
And I hate comments like this:
I doubt a Jim Harbaugh Michigan is sitting at 5-2 with talent like Bryce Love, Sam Darnold, Stanford Olinemen, or Christian Kirk suiting up for the Maize n Blue.
Did I miss something here? There is no rule saying Jim Harbaugh can't go out and find young talent. Those players you mention by name are Soph or Juniors - why should I feel better that USC, Stanford, and A&M found better underclassmen?
|10/22/2017 - 2:36am||When has Brian been right??||
When has Brian been right?? Honestly he prides himself on his football acumen- but between RR, hoke pooping gold and tonight. When has his predictions spotlessly worked???
|10/20/2017 - 3:55pm||In all seriousness...||
PSU is a great matchup for this team and the game will come down to a handful of coinflip plays. If we catch a break or two, it's very easy to see us pulling out a close game ala PSU last year on this same field against OSU...
|10/20/2017 - 3:53pm||I predict||
we win, thus obfuscating the fact that the team still isn't very good. People jump back on the bandwagon - predict B1G Championships, Playoffs, etc., only for us to lose to some crappy team within the next few weeks.
And the circle of life continues...
|10/13/2017 - 12:58pm||I never||
Understood the lalas hate. I don’t think he would be a good coach per se but as a talking head he is nothing but entertaining. He’s also a Michigan guy (the state) and was a very recognizable figure of the USMNT 94 team that - I guess - kind of started the soccer fad in the US? Is that safe to say?
|10/11/2017 - 7:38pm||Exactly||
The best soccer player in the world is 5’7 and weighs as much as a leaf. Our athleticism isn’t the issue.
|10/09/2017 - 1:00pm||The Hoke stuff -||
Is my new favorite MGOBLOG tradition: debating blame for a prior coaching staff. Been going on strong since 2008.
|10/08/2017 - 1:05am||And||
He won five big ten titles and oddly enough his national championship was in .... year three.
|10/08/2017 - 1:01am||100% true||
He also gave up his wal mart khakis for lulu lemons.
|10/08/2017 - 12:55am||Except||
Lloyd won a national championship, went 10-3 against MSU, and was basically .500 against OSU (not eeking out a wine every five years). I think we all would take Lloyd at this point
|10/07/2017 - 11:55pm||This is||
A dumb comment.
|10/07/2017 - 11:38pm||1-4||
Against our rivals. With a better chance of going 1-5 instead of 2-4. Not on the hot seat but the leash is shorter and the it’s time to cut some of the cute stuff. Like the Amazon series seems fun but now you realize there’s a reason that Saban or Bellicheck doesn’t do HBO Hard Knocks
|02/24/2017 - 4:27pm||burying the lede||
Wait - what is this about players almost getting into fist fights with coaches?
|01/11/2017 - 11:53pm||He recruited||
Irvin and Walton.
He's also been their coach for four years.
They are now seniors. Playing worse than ever before.
|12/31/2016 - 12:04pm||I mean||
We played Wisconsin Colorado and Penn State in the start of the season - not exactly cupcakes. We also played Maryland in November - not exactly the start of the season either.
Iowa isn't exactly a world beater, we lost to them. And almost lost to Indiana - once again, not a world beater by any stretch. The argument that we played better teams at the end of the year doesn't necessarily hold water. It seems like we just faded a bit down the stretch...
|12/31/2016 - 2:10am||Come on man||
This seems like the classic backup qb syndrome. At one point this year harbaugh mentioned speight as a possible heisman contender and no one laughed him out of the room. I'm not saying speight is the answer but pining the seasons failure on him seems rather revisionist
|12/31/2016 - 1:15am||Well, no.||
And this is getting off topic but he pooped gold with what we thought was going to be his success here:
The prognosis now is much better than it was in January. Hoke will be able to shovel early missteps onto Rodriguez's grave—already the tallest mountain east of the Rockies—and ride out the awkward transition from the spread, at which point he'll have a roster full of guys who are qualified, a career record worlds better than Rodriguez's, and a talent advantage over his division opponents. From there it's a matter of grabbing that goddamn win over Ohio State and seeing what happens. It's hard for me to think we'll be as good as spread terror du jour in any particular year, but let's whine about that bridge when we get to it.
|12/31/2016 - 12:40am||No wonder Mike Scott Hated you||
Don't think he's comparing the coaching acumen of Brady hoke and Jim harbaugh as much as he is making a statement. At one point on this blog there was a tag that said "Brady Hoke Poops Gold." We loved Brady too at one point...
