Speaking of posters, last year a user offered to send posters to out-of-state individuals on the blog. If this offer occurs again I recommend against it. I paypaled him the money for the shipping costs and never received a poster. Buyer beware.

07/10/2017 - 12:16pm One unintended consequence of automated vehicles

I was reading an article the other day (can't remember where) and they brought up the point that automated vehicles, if they truly significantly reduce the number of deaths and injuries each year would cause a significant shortage of something. This something would be transplantable organs. A large percentage of transplanted organs such as hearts and lungs come from those injured in automobile accidents. Obviously the lives saved from autonomous vehicles would vastly outweigh the negative of a reduction in viable organs for transplantation, but it was just an interesting view for a potential consequence.

01/15/2016 - 6:20pm Third year medical student

Third year medical student here. Stage IV would represent a distant metastasis (spread of other part of the body) of the disease. Generally at this point clinical goals are not curative and merely to control it as long as possible. Once it spreads somewhere you will likely always have some cancer cells in your body. However, depending on the specific types of cancer and the grade of the cancer (essentially how aggressive it is) it can alter the prognosis. It could be months or it could be several, several years. Some can be controlled. Others not as much.

What is this infatuation with Manning? He had a ridiculous amount of talent and experience in the secondary and complete squandered it. He's a good recruiter, but so was Hoke. Give me a good coach that can develop talent and teach proper technique over a former LB who can recruit but doesn't know how to teach proper coverage.

12/03/2014 - 6:20pm In no way would I keep

In no way would I keep Manning unless he was solely a recruiter. He's a LB coaching DBs. Did you ever wonder why our DBs performed so poorly in coverage early in the year? The talent is there. The coaching is not. They played coverage like a LB which doesn't work against actual receivers on posts and flys. Do not want.

10/30/2014 - 11:58am No EntryMy junior year,

No Entry

My junior year, welcome week a group of us, while quite intoxicated, were strolling up and down state street watching the prototypical large groups of freshman attempt to find parties. It was quite hysterical. We stopped by charlies and got even more hammered. Tried going to pizza bob's for shakes (would recommend) but they were closed. We drunkenly huddled up blocking the entire sidewalk in front of pizza bob's and decided we should sprint to pizza house from there because they had shakes and we're still open. Out of nowhere right as we are about to break someone yells "quack." We all begin slowly quacking like the mighty ducks until it culminates in us yelling "GO DUCKS!" and sprinting towards pizza house. As we are sprinting some random gent named Thomas joined us. We get about halfway there until we realize the seal really needed to be broken. We went into EQ hammered drunk and underage at the time. Extremely drunk and obnoxious accidentally use the women's bathroom. From there we head to pizza house with Thomas still with us. Get there and down 4 orders of feta bread with Thomas. Quite a fun night although we never heard from Thomas again.

I sincerely hope this isn't a "you scratch my back I'll scratch yours" in the terms of political alliances. Yes, you obviously need allies in politics, but posting a profile endorsing another candidate when you, yourself are running in the future seems a bit sketchy to me. I wouldn't want this to turn into a source of political contributions for various candidates. This is a very popular and (Id like to think) powerful blog in reference to michigan and using it for endorsements seems too slippery of a slope to me. I have nothing against the candidate presented or Brian's presentation of him I just hope this won't slowly devolve away from the Athletics of the school.

Would you rather:

Regress in basketball next year and be swept by all our rivals, but our football team beats MSU, ND, and Ohio en route to winning a B1G championship and going to the rose bowl

Or

The football team performs like the past few years but the basketball team wins the B1G and goes to at least the final four.

04/25/2014 - 4:04pm My senior year of college

My senior year of college (2012-2013). I lived in a house on Tappan Avenue. Well just as the semester was beginning, at the corner of Tappan Avenue and Hill, there was a giant multi house party complete with security and a band playing. My friends and I attended said event. At said event there were tons of michigan players from various sports including recruits. (I recall shaking Shane Morris's hand and seeing LTT). There were also members of the basketball team present, in particular Trey and Mitch. Well at one point during the night we observed Mitch and trey walk behind a couple of portopotties. About ten seconds later they walk back out from behind said portopotties and blow smoke into the air. I cannot speculate as to what kind of smoke it was but it was clearly Mitch and trey. The party was later broken up to what I remember as about 20 cop cars and SUVs. A week or two later I see trey has been suspended for the opening game against NMU for a "violation of team standards." Putting two and two together this story does not surprise me at all.
