Been sick for a week so I'm drinking really strong tea.  I'm no poet, but these guys are summing up my feels at the moment

Ah Pahokee the Arrakis of Michigan football.

I really hope Milton pans out, the above videos were a ton of fun to watch.

*looks at top of recruiting profile* OK, this kids a tackle prospect.  *Watches video of a tight end as he repeatedly high points balls and generally looks pretty smooth getting down the field*  Huh, so we're really going a different direction with the whole offensive line thing.

05/01/2018 - 4:34pm Damn I miss Ashley's.

Damn I miss Ashley's.

04/25/2018 - 11:33am Still go.  It's worth it even

Still go.  It's worth it even with a wait.  Plan to get there at opening, and just be laid back about the fact that there's going to be a bit of a wait.  Call ahead and book the fiery furnace hike. Stop at the Moab brewery after you're done.

04/25/2018 - 10:50am I love Arches in Moab, but

I love Arches in Moab, but it's gotten extremely crowded over the past 4 or 5 years.  There's frequently a lne 20 to 40 minutes long just to get into the park and now there's talk about limiting access.  So yes whilst it's one of the most beautiful places on Earth it's being runed because now people know it's one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

Touch fouls need to never be a thing ever again! Also I woke up my two year old. So I've got that going for me which is nice

How dare you even suggest.

12/15/2017 - 3:29pm Saw it law night

Took me a while to figure out where I'd rank this one.  First off, just to get it out of the way, it's really damn good.  The opening crawl had me worried that we were just getting an Empire remake, but it seems the director made some conscious decisions to subvert that right from the start.  There was a shocking amount of character development for most of the main trio.  For the somewhat darker tone of this film it had a suprising amount of actually funny moments.  Benicio Del Toro's performance was amazing.  Visually, it was the most impressive Star Wars movie. There were about 3 moments in the movie that I won't spoil but they are the prettiest damn scenes scenes Star Wars has ever given us.

It's also not perfect.  Damn is it long, and it drags in the middle to the detriment of the plot.  It loses a lot of the tension it so carefully built in the 1st act by having the second act take at least 20 mintues too long to get from point A to B.  This is probably a personal taste thing, but I watch Star Wars not for the sparkling dialogue so much as to see people kicking ass with lightsabers and the dialogue to lightsaber ass kickery ratio was way off. As good as Benicio Del Toro was Laura Dern was just sort of there.  She wasn't bad, but she was certainly not the highlight of this film.  and there's a thing that annoyed me plot wise, but it's way spoilery so I'll refrain.

Overall, this was the best Star Wars movie since the OG trilogy came out.  I'm looking forward to going back and seeing it again.

12/08/2017 - 3:20pm This SIR, is the internet

For instance did you know that I'm a skilled neurosurgeon and also have a PHD in Electrical Engineering!  Ok not really, but I am a lawyer, or am I!  I actually am a lawyer though... but maybe I'm not!  No, seriously though I'm a law talking guy.

11/17/2017 - 12:11pm He only has

He only has 850 rushing yards this season.  I mean that's... sort of alot considering that Evans has over 550.  yeah ok I'm convinced.  WHER STAR!

10/30/2017 - 4:18pm Blocking

At 5:48 in the highlight video you can see Onwenu execute the rarely used Force push technique on 17.  More coaches need to teach these kind of fundemental basics of blocking.

09/27/2017 - 12:35pm Assignments

Bush -> running back

Mettelus -> tight end

Hudson ->QB

Gary -> take on yet another double to free up everyone else

Michigan thinks a screen is going to either a tight end leaking out or the crossing running back.  Running back is ended by Bush so lets give him a check mark on his assignment and maybe a smiley face next to that.  Tight end never leaks out. Mettulus might have stuck with him for half a tick too long, but otherwise covers his assignment.  Gary moves two blockers back collapsing the pocket so let's igve him a check mark.  Hudson flows poorly here getting caught up in Gary's double initially leaving no player on the edge to force the ball back inside.  He is fast though and fasts his way over to eh QB a couple yards beyond the LOS.  Check minus.

09/23/2017 - 7:50pm Chris Evans

09/21/2017 - 4:45pm I'm not sure it excuses his actions

But I'm also of the mind that at some point actual structural damage to someones brain might relieve them of culpability for their actions.

I mean say one day you have a whole and healthy brain and you act one way and the next day portions of that brain are simply dead and now you're acting differently and so much so that it's to your detriment.  I think it would be a pretty dick move for someone who was aware of your disability to hold you as responsible for the actions you took on day two as they would have on day one.

09/15/2017 - 12:13pm Serious Talk

I love these posts.  I look forward to the MGoBBQ posts.  BBQ in all it's many forms is a passion of mine.  HOWEVA, Could we please post these damn things closer to the end of the day.  I'm on Mountain time and haven't had lunch yet.  I am dying over here.  Help me out just a little bit!

08/30/2017 - 11:29pm The corners will be. I mean

The corners will be. I mean you can't lose two NFL draft picks and replace them with underclassmen and expect that to go smooth, but I'm not certain safety isn't going to be about on par with last year plus there's now a Glasgow there which is comforting.

08/30/2017 - 1:48pm Ahhh

Now that's some reassuring content right there.  Also, dang man, I recall Chase Winovich coming in for mentions here and there, but he didn't seem like Bosa levels of productive. This pleases me.  I am pleased.

08/29/2017 - 11:57pm Ugh

So I come home after a long day and think ahhh, finally I've got some time to read the O-line preview. Surely this year will be good news. Let's take a look... welp, hell.

Just once I want the O-line preview to start thusly: These aren't men. No, these battle tested veterans haven't been men for some time. Gaze upon Titans.

Instead of a veritable yakkty sax compilation of missed assignments I want to see a DT wet himself presnap out of fear.

Just lie to me if you have to Brian!

07/24/2017 - 12:23pm Kid Friendly?

I live in the area and this sounds like a great time. I'll have an almost two year old in tow though.  Is this fine establishment kid friendly?

07/14/2017 - 9:02pm Ozzy

But Sabbath's first couple albums Ozzy, not solo Ozzy.

07/11/2017 - 2:18pm Highlights are worth a look

Competition caveats apply of course, but highlight tape is like a Khaleke Hudson level of impressive, but in lineman format.  It's a fun watch either way.

05/25/2017 - 12:55pm D-line preview should include this .gif

This is the returning starting D-line for this year minus one Glasgow.  I'll grant you it's a pretty big minus, but still our starting D-line should be ok guys.

03/29/2017 - 11:12pm A few things

1. If you'e not good with gore don't cut the umbilical cord it looks like something straight out of the Alien franchise.

2. It might be too late, but if it's not, cook a few big batches of food you like and freeze that.  Seriously, fill your freezer to capctiy with meals that all you have to do is take them out of said freezer and unthaw.  You will not feel like cooking once kiddo is back home, and you will be shocked how hungry your wife is.

3. No one is gonna talk much about this, but at 3 in the morning when you haven't slept much at all in the past 5 days and your kid is screaming and you've done everything you can.  WALK AWAY.  You're a Dad, but you're also a human being and everyone has a different tolerance level for how much they can take before they reach a point where they are overally frustrated.  It's OK.  You don't need to be superman, and more importantly you can't be superman because you're just some guy.  Put her down in the basinet, and take 2 minutes to go get yourself together.

4. Have a male parent you can talk to.  If you don't have a guy you're super tight with right now recruit one ASAP.  There will be times when you're going to want to talk to someone who is in or has recently vacated your shoes.

5. A lot of these are survival tips kind of stuff, and I don't want to make this seem like your life is over or an abandon all hope kind of deal.  Yeah there's some down side here, but the positives outweigh it all.  Your child is going to constantly amaze you.  You're going to reach a point one afternoon where you look at her and realize this little girl is the best thing that happened to you.  It might not be that first week or month, but it'll happen.  You're in for a long stange trip.  Enjoy the ride.

03/19/2017 - 11:18pm This just feels right man

Grayson Allen couldn't personally deserve this more.

03/19/2017 - 2:27pm Our bigs

I'll take them against anyone whose left in the tourney

03/15/2017 - 12:35pm Please No

Please don't brine your brisket people.  I mean yes do brine the hell out of your brisket if you'd like to have amazing corned beef.  If you're making corned beef, go with god, and 5 days of brining (which I guess if curing techincally).

However; as mentioned above, and I can't stress this enough, if you're smoking brisket you don't brine.  You do rub, and make sure that rubs got a good amount of salt, and make sure that rub stays on for a while prior to the smoking process.

I'm so sorry I can't help myself when it comes to BBQ.  I have a real problem and I need help.

03/13/2017 - 3:09pm Lodo's

There are two Lodo's bar and grill one is in lower downtown that's the one you want.  One is not in lower the lower downtown, don't go to that one.  If it's nice sit on the patio up top.

03/09/2017 - 4:12pm Yeah OK

I'll concede Minnesota is a tough out.

03/09/2017 - 3:34pm Beat Purdue

The rest will fall into place.  Seriously though, if we get past Purdue on a neutral court who is left in the B1G that we can't take?

02/14/2017 - 2:28pm Just Enough

So that DUI's become a thing of the past.  I imagine the governement will find some way to make it illegal to sit behind the wheel of an autonomous vehicle while drunk so long as you possible could have been operating in non autonomous mode.  So I guess it's full autonomy or nothing?

Seriously though if the move to autonomous vehicles makes DUIs a thing of the past I'll sing its praises.

12/21/2016 - 1:44pm This is all well and good

But do we know if he's going to sit out the bowl game to prepare for his 5th year?

12/16/2016 - 1:26pm Change the Setting

To the South Pacific and it would have been a really good WWII movie.  Setting it in the SW universe and tying it so directly into the fabric of a New Hope made it an outstanding watch.  This was the grittiest Star Wars by a long ways, and I don't mean that in a, wasn't that a crappy gritty reboot way.  It felt like a good war movie that just happened to also be Star Wars.

I really like the everybody dies at the end style of narrative.  It kept continuity with a New Hope and still showcased why these one off stories can be sucessful if a thoughtful approach is taken.  That beng said, K-2SO stole the show, and I was genuinely dissapointed that we aren't going to get to see more of Alan Tudyk (guy dies in like all his best roles).

Quick Hits:

- Darth Vader man... that was impressive.  Most impressive

- the bad guy was a bit too foppish

- Jedi-light got a bit grating in the middle but did redeem himself in the end

- That being said Jedi-light's buddy was awesome

- Forest Whitaker should have had a bigger role

10/17/2016 - 2:35pm Campus sex assault discussion

That was an encouragingly thoughtful portion of the podcast.  It sort of came out of left field, but it was extremely interesting.

Brian: If you have the oppurtunity to speak with any other regents I'm sure there are a number of mgolawyers who would be happy to provide some questions for you relating to the adminstrative process surrounding these cases.

09/02/2016 - 5:15pm I'm Ready Now

The words are done and they were wordsy and good.  The sentiment is there, and it's postivity for the sake of positivity.  I can get behind that.

Now I'm ready.  Michigan football is hours away, and the season starts soon, and I'm good and ready.
