Yeah, the option doesn't bother me, its their tendency to cut block players on the edge that scares me. It's still never called properly and is so dangerous for the O-lineman.
I think Harbaugh has been mandating full knee braces for a few years now, but its still annoying.
So we all thought the Borges Curse would die with Speight...
Him transferring means that borges has never (citation needed) recruited a QB who came to play for Borges and then finished his career as the starting QB (at that same school) right?
Sports Science did a bit on this where they took a Sumo wrestler, put him in goalie pads and had an NHL player shoot on him. The NHL Player roasted him. It works at lower levels, but at the highest level of the sport, the players are too accurate.
That being said, If someone who could LITERALLY cover all 4'x6' net, you'd be in business. If anyone could come close, Andre would be the guy.
Michigan doesn't let teams run and rarely allow good looks early in the shot clock. FSU is above average Oreb, but M is above average Dreb. Both mediocre on the other side (FSU Dreb and M Oreb).
I think Beilein is going to be counting on some productive freshman.
Freshman PG likely wont be a huge contributor off the jump, it takes at LEAST half a season for a pg to be competent in this offense, but DeJulius seems like the type that can put some points on the board early in the season despite being so fresh a la Trey Burke.
Brandon Johns can put points up and so can Brazdeikis. If Johns has a livers style year, and Brazdeikis can be Just a Shooter, we should do ok.
He was using manual genital manipulation to "Treat" all sorts of issues from back pain to muscle soreness etc. There were also accounts of these being done with the lights off and Nasser pleasuring himself while "treating" the children. For decades.
I had a long post put together, but the answer is easy... Stupid, but easy.
Can you imagine an American (a texan no less...) willingly giving up waterfront property for the Federal Government to build a levy system or sea wall?
Markus makes a few good points, schmeared with a lot of angst and B.S., but a few good points.
I used to sell Fords in West Michigan. I was an internet sales manager at a top selling dealership in the GR market. Keep in mind, MOST sales people are good PEOPLE just trying to make a living. The advent of the internet has ruined many bad salesman and been a boone to the consumer. MOST salesmen are volume vs. price sellers these days. Easier to sell 20 cars and make your bonus, then sell 10 and Screw the customers.
That beign said the Finance and Insurance guys can be pretty snakey. Secure your financing prior and only go with dealer financing if they get a better rate and match your prcing for things like gap insurance. The financing is where the majority of money is made in car sales and most sales people get a bonus off of what that guy can get you to sign for.
Markus probably had some bad experiences, which has tainted his viewpoints, but his basics were good.
My advice:
There is absolutely no reason an internet deal made should made over invoice.
Make sure you are familiar with option PACKAGES, not just options. The packages (espeically with Fords) are the way most salesman finagle pricing
Have a budget and stick to it, but don't imagine a moonroof is free. Know the prices. Many forums will include actual invoice pricing for real vehicles and will happily show you what those actually cost.
Submit what you want to a few different dealerships and work with the one that takes the best care of you (not necessariy the same as cheapest. Your call)
Dealer financing CAN be excellent. Most dealerships are able to offer better rates through their connections, but its always best to shop your financial institution to verify this.
DO NOT buy any sort of fancy salt proofing, anti theft, paint protection etc...
DO purchase gap insurance, but get a quote from your financial institution prior to meeting with the dealer. These policies usually cost $200 from your credit union, $1000 from the dealer. If they get you a better rate, don't hesitate to show your quote for GAP. They will match
Extended service plans are not worth it in my opinion, but they can be good protection/piece of mind. HOWEVER powertrain warranties do not cover as much as you'd think (only Internally Lubricated parts)
Anyone else think its ironic that Sam Webb vid at the top of the post is an autoplay video? Not to say it was intentionally hypocrtical, but after recent Twitter posts...
Id rather have funny pictures of my daughter experience things. Fireworks are kind of just fireworks. We have a problem with taking a thousand pics and then never looking at them.
Dangit. The HD one was a revelation last month when I found it. It worked way better than the current one. Add me to the list of people that would pay a few bucks for a good app.
Is Algebra really that important for much of the student population? Trig is more useful in daily life anyway, and unless your major requires math, what is the point of putting someone who is going for a non STEM major through a class with few real world applications.
I'm sure their engineers still need to take the requisite classes, its just the general population that doesn't.
When I played at GVSU, we'd always watch Robert Morris, Chapma (Con Bro Chill at Chapman was a must see at the time...) and UofM at the MCLA championships.
Simon Frasier was like watching Box Lacrosse on grass. Weird but fun. Super fast and all 1 handed.
I agree, sure, some kids come to college on a football scholarship for the education opportunities that they provide. But your kidding yourself if you think EVERY kid that plays college football wants to earn their degree in case they flame out at football.
Sure, a Michigan Degree is an excellent boost in the job market and I'm sure michigan "prepares you for life" whatever that means.
A few million from the NFL gives you opportunities that no degree can.
I wish this would happen for Lacrosse. Brother Rice hadn't lost a game in michigan in 7 years when I was in high school. The State Championship was really just to see who the runner up would be.
I dont think changing an offense reliant on the most efficient shot in basketball with 4 players on the floor capable of making 40% or better is a good idea...
I get your point that he hasn't changed everything, but relying on the 3 ball is a pretty forward thinking strategy.
I'm just going to assume that the author made a mistake. Yeah. Thats it. I mean... they can't really be practicing full formation punting on the first day of spring ball right?
I'm thinking that Magnus means long term. Through college. Wide receivers are hit and miss just like linbackers are. So having a them in the top few in the state before their senior years and calling that one will be better "when all is said and done" isn't really a stretch. Magnus has watched both. He likes both. Antjuan **might** be better.
Playing in the MCLA Div II National Quarter and Semifinals.
Lost to Davenport (in denver no less) two years in a row after beating them twice in the regular season and conference playoffs (both years). Undefeated and ranked number one, we lost to them for a chance to play for the National Championship my senior seaason.
Lost in 4 overtimes. We had to ride 20 hours home on a bus with a 5 hour layover in a hotel parking lot in Chestnut Iowa while our driver got his mandated rest.
BUT, there was a Mrs (yes.. mrs.) America contest going on at the hotel that weekend. So I had that going for me. Which was nice.
Probably not the same time as you, but one of my favorite memories playing Lacrosse was a scrimmage between GVSU and UofM's club team the year before they went Varsity.
UofM blew us out in the first quarter but we played them even the rest of the game. Scrimmage sure, but UofM had to keep their starting goalie in.
I think this would be a bigger issue if we didn't have Mattison on board. Having the previous DC on board during a transition really eases the pain. The usual issues are terminology and style and with a great defensive mind like GM manning the trenches, I don't think there will be too many issues with that.
Even if there are, a few meetings between the staff and differences in terminology, style and scheme can likely be hammered out.
That being said, lets hope the LB corp isn't a flaming pile of poo.
As it turns out the "city" of Rockford isn't that much bigger, about twice the size.
The school district has something like 10000 though. The highschool averages something like 600 per class, but sends very few football players to D1 schools despite the success of the program.
Fun Fact: Braden tried lacrosse out (as a junior in HS i think). He played midfield if I recall correctly.
There is a crazy high percentage of MSU fans in Rockford... Went to highschool here and it seemed like everyone was a state fan. I wonder if its changed lately
While I don't think hes a great coach, he's at least servicable.
This gives the new GM an easy scapegoat after year one as well. If things go great he looks like a genious, if the season goes poorly, he can fire the coach (who will then have had three years and a "fair" shot) and hire "his guy".
Win win. Lions aren't going to be great next year in any case, but they might make the playoffs as a wild card team. I can't imagine a new coach would do any better next year and Caldwell probably wont do much worse.
Thats definitely the reasoning they were putting up on SportsCenter this morning. Weird situation I guess, but it's not like Lovie Smith is a hotshot/up and coming coach.
A top 5 offense with a rookie QB in year one (GRIII?) isn't unheard of but it is definitely not the norm. Good job by the OC to make such an impression on his boss's boss and (maybe) get that promotion.
Either way, who cares... its Tampa Bay... Go Lions? Yeah... damn.
Man, I get that Keenan is exciting to watch, but how come Kenneth Dixon isn't getting more love? They mentioned that Dixon set the record in his bowl game, and that Reynolds is trying to set the record again today.
Isn't it way more impressive for a tailback to get the TD record (rushing/receiving td's) vs a QB (rushing/receiving/passing td's)
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. How was this not even a storyline on ESPN leading up to this game?
I just have the page open on the right side of one of my screens that is tilted away from the traffic a bit. Boss doesn't really care as long as work gets done but going half screen leaves mostly just the text.

Isn't Frey known for taking borderline TEs and turning them into excellent OTs?
That rule states "one or both feet on the ground"
So Mcray's foot in the air shouldn't have prevented the call from being made.
Of the skycam view is that they show the band at halftime! Or at least they used to.
Eh, this was supposed to be a response. I messed it up. Herbie is fine. I like Spielman better. WatchEspn skycam view is best view.

Funny headline nonetheless!
I just turned off AdBlock for MgoBlog. Sure I see some ads, but they are easily ignored for the good of the site.

Its times like these I REALLY appreciate working from home. Hasn't started snowing in Grand Rapids yet. Drive safe everyone.

Why aren't we better at soccer?
Short answer: Dave Brandon.
Cant remember the specifics, but the section of JUB's book was pretty interesting regarding the coaches at UofM.
